“Well,” he finally said. “It would nice to get to civilization, if there is any here. And if there isn’t any, we should find food and other necessities and set up camp in a good spot. And if there are enemies, I’m going to need help fighting them.”
He wasn’t allowed any weapons in jail - for obvious reasons - so he doesn’t have any right now and if he did have some, they wouldn’t be much use to him because he isn’t much good as a fighter.
So, if a fight came, he would need the help of someone with weapons and the ability to use them in order to survive it.
