Who’s to say the ancient ones aren’t the same as the modern ones?

[ Because that was really going to be the answer he was looking for.

But even if it wasn't, it still made perfect sense. Sure, extraterrestrials were fairly commonplace in their world. No big deal; nothing groundbreaking to see here. But that just meant that aliens — and maybe even aliens from the same ET races — could have been visiting for thousands of years. And could have been the ones responsible for this too.

This could all be an experiment. Maybe Gotham had been part of the experiment.

And if they were going to talk about alien zoos, well, the zoo theory was clearly the answer to Fermi’s Paradox.

That and the guy with the weird hair on Ancient Aliens was totally believable.

But now, with the way Joker asks if she’s been watching the History channel again, Harley looks a little guilty, like she’s been caught with her hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Wide-eyed and just a touch apologetic. The argument that it’s the History channel (and therefore quality television) has sort of gotten weaker lately. So has the stand that everything on there had to be true; if the History channel's lying, then the world would devolve into chaos.

Which, okay, chaos might have been an important part of the whole clown schtick, so maybe that wasn't such a terrible thing.

Still, she opens and closes her mouth like she’s trying to come up with a good answer. One that’s less disappointing than the one he’s come up with. ]

I watch it while I paint my nails?

[ That's actually true. Plus the narration lulls Bud to sleep when he's being ornery. ]

But, okay, I think aliens make the most sense. Ancient or not. Right? Or... or an alternate dimension. Maybe both. Maybe Supertool knows some inter dimensional aliens. That would be perfect.

[ Or they're still hallucinating. Granted, he could still be a hallucination at this point. Somehow, though, she would have thought Joker would have been more delighted to see her if she was imagining him.

Speaking of... ]

Hey. Have you been... you know. Seeing things? Because...

[ Because she really wasn't sure that her hallucinations were the product of a lack of Arkham's finest cocktail of drugs. ]
