If you're not sure why something's happening and technology has yet to provide an answer, a lot of people turn to magic and gods.

[ of course, with the amount of people running around with weird ears and tails and such, maybe there's something to be said about the prismal's gods, who certainly affects things more directly than a mysterious dead lady. ]

I'm not saying that's the actual answer, but it suffices for some when they're not sure. And hell, sometimes the answer is magic. It's caused enough problems where I'm from.
