"It's familiar to me." She comments lightly, allowing room to carry on or drop the subject entirely. Meeting someone new always means testing waters and as intense as she can be, she can be just as casual. It's part of the occupation to slide into different roles and adapt, after all.

"Then you'd be the first coming from there that hasn't. A lot of people like you and I are from Japan here -- I'm Nikkei myself. My grandmother was Japanese, but her husband wasn't." She can't be sure about his timing, but the only reason she'd think to ask or talk about it is because she was 'behind' a lot of people herself. "It was 2009 when I was back home."

She'd met some people from the twenty-seventies and that was quite the trip. But the technology here overall is either a little behind or not that much further. It's just the integration of it.

"Take it you're of like mind and don't trust how generous they are easily? Be nice if it was that innocent, though." Damned if it wouldn't be.
