[If he notices any brusqueness in the way the vendor sends them on their way, he gives no outward sign of it. Only hands off one stick to Fjord, keeps the other for himself. Sniffs it tentatively as they continue to make their meandering way through the thronging streets.

They slip past a group of animated Prismals, lost deep in conversation, Julian's coat fluttering out behind him like dark wings as he steps nimbly to avoid a collision.]


Lively place, isn't it?

[The way he says it, it's clear that it's exactly the kind of atmosphere he enjoys.]

But look, you should be careful what you say, you might end up living to regret it. [Again there's the flash of his crooked smile, a continuation of his unguarded openness.] My sister frequently tells me that I don't let anyone else get a word in edgeways.

[His sister, Asra, others-- and so, despite the teasing edge to his response there's a suffusion of warmth in his words that suggests he appreciates Fjord's sentiment. Having someone say they like listening to him talk? There's something to be said for that.

He pauses though, to take a bite of his food. Chews it, swallows, brow raised.]


Oh, it's not ah, not too bad actually. Try it, tell me what you think.

[He says it as he tries to make sense of the string of words the other man just compiled into a sentence. Purple tiefling?]

And no doubt, if I saw someone like the man you're describing I'm sure I'd remember him. I'll keep an eye out. Be sure to say hello. I suppose it's something of a relief, isn't it? To have someone familiar about, when you find yourself in a strange new world.
