You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

The Mirror has Two Faces
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I think drinking alcohol made in a bathtub was a good idea? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel. Destination: Prismatica.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A. Find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B. All apartments have been officially upgraded with special mirrors in the master bedroom that allow you to modify your features using a chroma-powered side panel. You can change your hair color, clothes, add animal parts, and even reduce or augment any feature of your body. Play around with it and see how you look! Sometimes, the mirrors will glitch and give you access to another person’s mirror, letting you see inside their apartment and catch them unawares. To their (your?) horror, you can hear them as well as they can hear you. Hopefully, you’re not caught doing something you shouldn’t be!

Knottingham Forest
Level 2, Greatmoon Groves | top

The whole city receives an invitation to watch a once-in-a-lifetime outdoor play in Level 2’s Greatmoon Groves. It will be performed by the renowned traveling fox thespians from Amegahara.

It’s been a whole month since these fox envoys came to Lunatia. The Amegahara foxes ended up staying in the city longer than expected because of the fiasco last Vulpus Astra. Aside from needing to smooth things out with the Lunatian government, they also need to regain enough chroma to travel back home.

The locals aside, wanting to make up for their carelessness from the past month, they’ve primarily put together this play while keeping in mind the Moonblessed who were most affected. Though the Conclave of Amegahara and the Oracles of the Sinless are not affiliated, the Amegahara foxes regardless wish to apologize for the wrongdoings of the Sinless because they’re still their kin.

They hope everyone can move past it. Eager to show the real beauty of their culture, they encourage all to attend and bear witness to a truly tantalizing feast for the eyes. All Moonblessed will receive VIP seating and special service. The play does not start until the evening, but don’t worry, there’s more entertainment prepared around the groves!

A. Trending online is the Tree of Knots, a large tree with low-hanging branches covered in thick ribbons of various colors. It's such a hit with the locals that there are long lines for those who want to take Prismagram-worthy selfies.

The Amegahara foxes will explain that knots are sacred to their kind as they represent deep passion and eternal bonding. Participants are encouraged to work in pairs to loop a ribbon around a branch and then pull either end to ring around the tree. The bigger the knot, the better! Once a knot is secured, the two Moonblessed may find themselves, well… stuck together. Their hands will lace, and they will not be able to pull free for an hour. Enjoy the quality time spent with a friend and/or stranger… Hope you don’t have to go to the bathroom any time soon!

B. Cozy up with your fellow Moonblessed at the comfortable VIP seats facing the stage. Plates of delicious food and drink will float around to serve you until the show is over!

Under the moonlight, the play tells the tale of the Queen of Loch Drasta. The aloof and sheltered queen is seduced by a winsome village maiden named Peirene, only able to meet her when the night is upon them.

Special effects spellcasters make illusions of stars that encircle the audience, their bright glow emitting a comforting warmth that may lull audience members into a peaceful trance that lasts well after the show has ended. Those affected may find themselves feeling intoxicated. Strange — they haven’t even had a single drop of liquor! They’ll be prone to feats of reckless abandon or be charged by feelings of either elation, desire, or happiness. Possibly all of the above!

Preparation H
Level 1, Lunar Scientia Headquarters | top

It’s almost time for the Conclave of Amegahara to return home and they will be taking the Oracles of the Sinless with them. Though, it seems they’re not the only ones heading out. As part of the ongoing efforts to bridge relations between all cultures, any willing Moonblessed will be invited at the end of the month to travel together to Amegahara, the Oasis in the Nothing, to give them a chance to learn more about this world. It’s also a volunteer experiment to see how their special moonlacing will affect their dead environment.

It’s said that the Amegaharans developed their own culture and technology independently from the Prismals of Lunatia, as their lands are separated by a large ecological wasteland created by the Calamity—dead lands which they call the Nothing. In order to traverse this dangerous territory, appropriate equipment developed by the Amegaharans will have to be used given that the Nothing is inhospitable and impossible to breathe inside of.

And so, to make sure nothing goes wrong, a proper testing and training session in Level 1’s Lunar Scientia Headquarters will be underway before the big trip. The Amegahara foxes warn that the current calibrations are for their kind, so it will likely be incompatible with the Moonblessed at the moment. Part of the test procedures is to find the right configurations, so brace yourselves.

A. L.I.F.E. or simply “LIFE” is a special form-fitting full body suit and helmet that are capable of providing ample chroma to keep the wearer alive through the most hazardous environments, such as toxic air.

One of malfunctions may potentially cause suffocation by squeezing the wearer’s bodies too tight. Another is that it might drain chroma instead of providing any. Stay with someone nearby to help you strip and moonlace with!

B. Another piece of technology available for testing is the aerial mecha suits called GIGA, which require at least two to three people to pilot one. Similar to LIFE, the suits also have a few noticeable glitches. Sometimes, the flight function stops completely, making it impossible to hover more than a few feet off the air. Other times, the emergency function suddenly ejects pilots straight into the ground. A neural cord that is supposed to affix itself to the pilots’ central nervous systems has also been coming out from the bottom of the seat instead of linking to the back of the pilots’ neck as designed, making for a particular uncomfortable seated experience.

As always, please take note of all glitches and errors and report them to your nearest Lunar Scientia employee!

( she's not as well-travelled as some people she knows but river has seen many cultures and species over her time, enjoying taking part in their varied traditions. particularly when they bring people together.

she'd appreciated listening to the tale of the tree, stepping towards it to look closer and had even joked with someone before tying a knot with them.

except their was no releasing from the knot with them. she tugged a second time, considered dislocating something to get out of it but it wasn't quite that dire yet )

They managed to leave this out.
( preparation h / b )
( it had certainly been a while since she'd had any kind of suit on though this one was very different in style. thankfully. they'd gotten a group together, finding jobs for each of them on the mecha before setting off.

it had started off fairly uneventful, the mecha travelling for maybe twenty minutes before it jerked. it didn't stop, they still seemed to be moving forward but they'd dropped closer to the ground, now only a foot above it )

I take it that's not supposed to happen?

( though she knew it wasn't and she's already trying to take a look from where she's sat )

The Mirror has Two Faces

A.
[Even for a strange as school could get it wasn’t this level of weird. New planets weren’t really on their list of things. Even if some students might desire that for their performances. Ritsu was pretty sure it wasn’t the case with Knights. Leo might talk about aliens but he didn’t think he would actually come in contact with them or piss them off enough to bring them all here. Of course being alone did kind of set off some bells. He knew he wasn’t asleep though so that was a start.

In the new apartment he had yet to check for a roommate, instead he decided to find a comfortable spot to at least rest his head while he tried to figure out some kind of plan of attack. A low grumble under his breath he drapes an arm over his eyes as his legs hang off the edge of the couch. He has a nice build and is clearly tall but also seems a little more fatigued than someone might expect someone to be after arriving.

As he shifts on the new napping locations, he mutters to himself.]

B.

[A smirk on his face he watches as the person on the other side of the mirror explores their room. Curious he was playing with giving himself some cat ears, being cat-like was something he was used to being called. However this seemed much more fun. Red eyes watch the other person move until he takes it upon himself to check if they can hear him.]

Didn’t know this place was so willing to let us see how another person lives?

[Chin resting in his hand he lets out a short yawn before he straightens up, obviously waiting for their reaction for them to discover the location of the voice.]

Knottingham Forest

A.

[Almost fixated on the tree he found himself working one the loop, rather proud by his progress. Even with the partner he has, he was curious what Maakun might think about something like this? It would be a fun thing to do with him when he arrives or if he was already here. As he finished the knot he looks at the work before he finds himself holding hands.

A sharp look to his gaze he looks at his hand now attached to the other person as he tries to tug it. The other person was stronger than he thought. Ritsu pouts a little and then throws a look now at the persons face.]

You can let go. [A small tone of annoyance in his voice now. If he had to he would drag this person, the evening was his playground and he didn’t want this person to stop that.]

B.

[Full and relaxed the idol finds himself perhaps a little too relaxed as he leans back into his seat. The show was okay and the food was tasty but the sudden feeling of intoxication wasn’t something expected. With a new lightness and heaviness to his body, he can’t stop himself as he let his head rest on the lap of the person next to him. A smile showing fangs offered to the person he reached for their hand to place it on his head.]

Praise me, a little. [A happy yet playful hum to his voice, he shows no sign of moving until he receives some kind of attention from the other.]

and they were roommates (mirror, a)

[Her head still feels fuzzy from the tranq they'd needed to knock her out with.

She has no idea where she is, and has taken in the information she's been given with a sort of sharp-eyed, wary paranoia. This wasn't right. There was no watch, none of the others, this mission did not fall in line with every other mission she'd been pushed into. She feels stronger too — case in point where she lifts a bed in the room she's in and flips it over, looking for something.

Is this your room? Well, it's an absolute wreck now. The strange woman inside is pale-haired and serious, wearing a dark coat with a sword taller than her floating at her back. The design panel has been fiddled with to the point that the couch looks more like some unrecognizable abstract figure; the blinds and curtains flicker erratically.

She's ruined the panel too, so there's that.

There's a curious floating device near her — it looks like a rectangular metal box with an antenna and two arm-like appendages. She's talking to it, and entry into the room reveals snippets of their conversation.]

— Nothing here. Scan again.

No other Circle members have been detected, A2. Status of Unit 9S' black box: unknown.

[...

In a sudden burst of irritation, she kicks at the bedframe and it dents at the force of the blow.]
Waste of time to be here, then. C'mon.

[Is she going to fix the havoc she wreaked?

Nope. Better catch her before she breezes by you to fuck up the next room!]

knot wanting to be here (knottingham a)

[The more things changed, the more things stayed the same: she still hates missions. She's assuming this one is like the others: get to know the locals, stop their planet from being ruined or whatever, fail and watch everyone die again (or die herself), win, whatever. Go back to the Circle.

She does not want to help, but she doesn't want to be here, but the alternative troubles her, and she too is made uneasy (though she would not admit it readily) by seemingly being the only one here.

She doesn't know who is on the other side of the ribbon, and she doesn't care. She's half paying attention, too distracted by how uncomfortable and wrong all of this seems, and simply wants to get it over with.

She hasn't talked to anyone out of sheer spite.

The knot is tied, and she glares silently at her partner when their hands are laced together, trying to yank away.

... It doesn't work, and so, after a moment, she yanks hard enough to hurt. She is a slight woman by all appearances, but she seems to be unusually and incredibly strong.

She's going to keep doing this without saying anything. Enjoy your new partner, buddy!]

not drift-compatible (preparation h, a.)

[She doesn't need to breathe, she tells them, but the humans do, and so it is with reluctance that she volunteers to test the weird suit.

It fits, which is something, and she gets about five minutes or so of peace in it before she suddenly feels so faint that she wobbles, unsteady, in place.

... She refuses to ask for help because she's just like that, but her hands shake as she tries to divest herself of the suit, and they slip in the attachments without getting any headway. Maybe it'd be best to approach. Should probably do so with caution, though. She bites.]

[When Raven wakes up from an unintended sleep she's both furious and scared. Furious because she let her guard down. Scared because what if Salem got a hold of her.

When there's no sigh of her, her henchmen or the Grimm, she calms down a bit to get herself out of the crystals. She puts on her mask as soon as she is able to, to even better hide her emotions.

She starts looking around, hand over the handle of her sword - ready to fight if she needed to.]

The mirror has two faces

Government Center

[Of course Raven would also fight against being medically examined. She made a fuss that was likely heard, attempting to fight her way out. Needless to say it's a fight she lost, which makes her mood even more sour.

In fact her mood is so sour she's just going to sit around waiting for the next phase, to happen. She's tempted to just turn into a bird and hide, but maybe just wearing her mask is enough to drive anyone away from talking with her.]

Glitchy mirror

[The living spaces weren't bad, at least. Raven retreats to her own as fast as possible, to have some privacy and go over everything she had been told and about the current situation in general. She puts down her mask in front of the mirror and sits down on her new bed, holding her head in her hands.

Those with glitchy mirrors may just see said mask in their mirror. Raven doesn't even pay attention to it right now.]

Tree of Knots

[What better way to explore the new place than as a red-eyed raven. It gives her shelter and lets her look around to get used to her surroundings. Having an area like this is perfect for her to just sit on a tree or other places.

She's also boldly sitting on a branch of the Tree of Knots, watching people tie said knots and likely laughing at their misfortune on the inside.]

THE HOLLOW KNIGHT | HOLLOW KNIGHT

[personal profile] instilled 2019-08-09 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
▶ arrival
The Hollow Knight had been disoriented upon waking. Coming back from the battle with Her hadn't been something it had expected to happen. Being forced to exist, free to move its limbs and raise its nail to protect itself, had been a shock. Having two arms after one had rotted to the infection so long ago was staggering. Not having Her burn through it had left it almost unsure what to do. The world was silent, and beautiful, and free.

It wasn't until the Moon Knights, as they had called themselves, had found it that it had truly accepted that it was back in its corporeal shell, and separate once more from the united Void. It had been uncertain, because what was its purpose, if not to contain the infection? Or was this a second chance, with their tests and their questions asked to a voiceless being meant to prepare it to go through it again? It was sure that She had been defeated, that its sibling had come and relieved it of that hellish, failed sacrifice.

But if The Hollow Knight was back, it could not be certain that She was not, also, and that it would not be called on once more to fulfill its necessary duty.

The thoughts were racing, and all the way down to this Planet Prismatica, it did what it could to silence them.

Do not think.

▶ THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES

A - Neighbors
Moonlacing. That was what it had been told. Chroma had to be produced, and to do that, moonlacing must be practiced. Touch, primarily affectionate, was what produced that. The Hollow Knight knew that it could not be affectionate (do not feel), but it could offer its hand in assistance to this.

Having a space to itself left it uncomfortable in a way it couldn't describe, so as soon as it could, it left the accommodations and made its way slowly down the corridors, head bowed so that its horns did not graze the ceiling. Occasionally, it stopped at a door, about to raise a hand to knock and introduce itself to the people, as instructed, but it faltered each time, uncertain.

It must not have a self to introduce.

If anyone were to open their door early in the morning after the new arrivals were situated, there was a good chance that they would find themselves face-to-carapace with an eight-foot bug, all slim black carapace, serrated white horns, and a cracked mask with black, empty eyes.

At very least, it would twitch in surprise just as much as them.

B – Mirrors
The mirror in its accommodation was distracting. The Hollow Knight spent a long time with its face pressed against the glass, feeling inside of itself for any indication of the captive light. It expected to see the burning orange light of Her as She stared out from its eyes, or to have it spill out from the crack in its mask.

And so it stared, and watched, and waited, for any indication of the bright blaze of orange light that it was sure would come.

It could be caught at that, just staring into the mirror, intense despite the blankness of its features, when the mirror switched to show it inside someone else's room, and someone else inside its.

Or it could be found tearing at anything orange it had found in the décor of the standard room, stabbing it with its long, cracked nail, apparently oblivious to the colour-changing panel.

▶ KNOTTINGHAM FOREST

A – Tree of Knots
The Hollow Knight was, in part, the child of the Root, who had been filled with a desire to propagate and spread her seed. That there were people that would use a tree in their ceremonies for passion and bonding was not, therefore, much of a surprise to it. In fact, the Hollow Knight had been almost eager to take part, briefly forgetting that it must not feel eager, and accepted the ribbon from one of the foxes.

There it stood, holding one end of a bright red ribbon in its slender hands, looking towards the tree that it was to knot the ribbon around. The branches were already festooned with beautiful knots of bright fabric, and the Hollow Knight was looking forward to tying this one around one of the branches.

It turned its head back to the other person who had drawn the red ribbon, levelling them with its blank and empty stare. After a moment, it raised one of its arms and pointed at a branch, slightly higher than the others, and as of yet not decorated.

▶ PREPARATION H

Anal – L.I.F.E.
Going inside the GIGA suit had been out of the question. Unfortunately, using one of the L.I.F.E. Suits had almost been that way, too. The Hollow Knight was not a small creature, and even if it had been, its prominent horns would have been awkward to fit a helmet around. However, the Research and Development team had modified one for it, and it walked into the testing room, dressed in the body-forming suit and holding the helmet in its hands.

It nodded to its companion as it came in, to acknowledge that it had left them waiting. They were already in their suit and helmet, and it didn't want to leave them behind, so it slipped it over is head swiftly, and tried not to think about the last time it had had something custom-designed for it to wear.

Do not think.

When it was fully covered, it nodded again. All was ready.

THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES / A

It's a sunny day, and here you are, just trying to get to your apartment. Suddenly, a rustling, and the sound of flapping wings. A flock of doves comes rushing overhead from one of the upper floor windows. Unfortunately, with birds in flight comes bird business in flight, and there's a healthy wet plop nearby. Hopefully one is standing under something and not the escaping birds.

There's also annoyed cursing in a language not the common tongue, shouting from said open window, and a fancy Lunatian birdcage flying out to hit the ground below.

"Trash! Trash! A high-tech alien planet cannot even make a cage for a man's collection!"

Enjoy the new, crazy German bird dad neighbor.

PREPARATION H / B

This older, rather formal looking gentleman (?) seems more keen on observing than taking part. True, he did sign up for it, but why waste an educated man of science to do the testing when there's other volunteers to do it for him? He's clearly not actual staff, even if he's stolen a notepad and a fancy glowing pen he keeps clicking while waiting.

"Don't worry, I'm a doctor. Go on, now. If anything happens, Chroma heals."

He smiles, but it doesn't feel right - there's no kindness there. Nothing to be said for who this is, why they're watching you get undressed and into the suit, or where that Chroma will come from. Not him, most likely - he didn't agree to that!

[A: THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES]
[Being a legendary hitman with a penchant for choking people out and stealing their clothes (for disguises) doesn't necessarily mean Agent 47 ALWAYS chokes people out and steals their clothes (for disguises).

Too bad this is exactly what he's done.

After his exam on the moon's government center, 47 managed to bash the doctor in the head with a steel tray. He dragged them into a nearby closet, then ditched his fine black suit for scrubs and a surgeon's cap that hid in the bar code tattooed on the back of his head.

So. If you're wandering around the government center, feel free to talk to the medical staff. Especially that one really intense-looking bald dude, who definitely belongs here, who definitely isn't looking for some kind of escape.]

[B: KNOTTINGHAM FOREST]
[Unfortunately, government staff found 47 out after a good couple hours and tranquilized him. So here he was, in Lunatia.

During the Queen of Loch Drasta play, one of the special effects spellcasters looks slightly off. He's dressed in the same hooded robes as the others are, but with an odd lack of any fox-like features. He also doesn't seem to be doing any magic, despite following the movements of the other Amegahara perfectly.

Weird.]

[ now, alucard doesn't take kindly to experimentation. of course he doesn't: he's spent decades locked in a goddamn basement at the hands of his masters, and while the medical examination doesn't reek of that he still struggles, and still ends up nerfed. which is humiliating, and hisses air through his teeth like a vaguely vicious deflating balloon the whole time.

he's still working out the effects of the--what, is it a neurotoxin? he has no idea. anyway, he's still working out the effects of that as he explores where he's meant to settle in, hours later, flexing his fingers. this place is so--calm, and even the days alone in survival mode were not enough to drain all the aching energy to fight out of him, having been pulled from the promise of the fight of his life.

now he's promised an apartment, which is fucking wild, but he'll take it. he picks one that's kind of dark and gloomy and not really--furnished that much, with just a bed (no coffin, huh? figures) and the basics. whatever, it's fine. he still has a chair.

but he spends a lot of time lurking out in the halls, too, looking around for anyone he might recognize. he moves easily through milling people, shifting them aside as needed with an idle touch of his hand to a shoulder or side or arm. apparently he's never heard of the concept of personal space. ]

Excuse me.

[ as he passes, or definitely if you're standing in his way so much that he can't just brush past you. look at him, trying to be polite.

he ignores the whole mirror thing, because he's not into mirrors as a whole (he can see himself in modern mirrors, of course, but that's beside the point), but when he's in his unit he's mostly just sitting around or kind of exploring. there's little untoward to see, unless a 6'6" vampire being a weirdo in a dark room is untoward to you. ]

knottingham forest

[ alucard is interested in the fox people. they're cute, and odd, and he has a fondness for odd things. he chats a couple up, flirts, grins a little too sharply, and goes on his way.

the tree of knots is... interesting, but he doesn't look like he's about to participate. he watches, curious, and becomes well aware of the potential consequences, which he thinks is kind of funny. he's pretty chatty if you pause by him long enough though, and at one point will idly gesture to the ribbons. ]

What do you think about this whole thing? I see people doing it with strangers, which is interesting considering the connotations of eternal bonding. What if you end up hating them?

[ with a wry grin.

later, at the play, he's settled in comfortably, though he never partakes of any food. he always has a glass with him though, of deep red wine, since he hasn't been able to really get ahold of any blood. he's not very hungry, thankfully, but that doesn't stop him from casting short ravenous glances at people that pass him.

he enjoys the play, making idle commentary in lulls about the nature of a night-time romance. if that annoys you, definitely tell him to shut up, he might listen, or he might get more annoying. ]

[ travel? a bitch LOVES travel. so like, sure. he tries to explain that he's indestructible and can't die, but like, apparently his struggles as an immortal vampire mean NOTHING and he still has to try some shit out.

the LIFE suit works, at first? or like, it probably does, because alucard doesn't notice any real changes. but a little while into it, he starts to feel...tired, and realizes something is wrong. he's not used to this whole chroma thing yet, but mixed with that draining, exhausted feeling, the suit starts squeezing down on him. which, he doesn't need to breathe, but it's still uncomfortable, and reminds him of his straitjacket, and he can't just phase out of it--

--he rips the helmet off, letting it clatter to the floor, and looks to--you, yeah, you, because you're nearby. ]

--Give me a hand, would you? I need to get this thing off.

They stepped out of the home they'd found here, and suddenly their eyes were filled with a sight both welcome and absolutely startling.

They weren't entirely surprised to see someone they knew here. Not after Grimm had shown up. But if the Knight's eyes could have widened from the big, round holes in their mask that they were, they would have, and significantly.

Immediately they scuttled over, though they knew better than to approach from behind. They would have had a hard time not attacking anyone who did that, and their sibling... oh, they didn't even want to think about the self-control it would take them not to jump to that very natural reaction.

Natural for them, anyway.

Instead, they moved to the side, as far from where their sibling as they could. Fortunately the Hollow Knight was skinny, and they would hopefully give them enough space to avoid triggering their defensive instincts until they could recognize them.

Once in front of them, they stopped and just stared up in the face as impassive as their own, thinking only one thing.

Sibling.

Mirror has Two Faces

[Nemuri wasn't always vain, but there were times that she definitely could be. And these new mirrors definitely gave her a reason. Apparently they were new, not that she knew the difference, considering she'd just found her apartment that morning after waking up in the crystals a few days ago.

She wasn't fully convinced this was a long hangover dream, ok.

But she'll definitely be playing with the mirror, trying on different animal ears and outfits. Anyone who appears in her mirror will be met with a surprised face and a shout.]

What the hell?!

Tree of Knots

[Yep, Nemuri got sucked into taking a look at the tree that was trending online. She was pleasantly surprised to find it so colorful, and not just something where clickbait had managed to overtake the trending charts. She took a few pictures and listening to the foxes explain the meaning behind it.

Picking up some of the ribbon nearby she turns to someone standing nearby.]

Feel like helping them out?

Pacific GIGA

...This reminds me of a movie I saw once...

[But it's real, and in front of her, and damn huge. Apparently she was going to be piloting this giant mecha with one or two of the other moonblessed to see if they would function correctly for the big trip ahead of them. From what she heard, there were some glitches they might run into, and were supposed to tell the employees about what they find.

She sighs and rubs her forehead before turning to the co-pilot standing nearby.]

( arrival/fly me to the moon )

[When Siebren wakes up, he realizes that something is horribly wrong before he even opens his eyes. The sounds are all wrong - there are no hums and whirrs of fans and cameras. He had only been in Talon's care long enough to just be able to recognize the ambiance of the base, and the change is palpable.

When he wakes - well. When he wakes, the sight of the stars above him is a comfort, at first. But Siebren has spent his entire life studying the stars, the mathematics behind them, and these are not his stars. The crystals surrounding him quiver before rocketing into the air, shards suspended around him like floating daggers. They only float for as long as it takes him to sit up before they clatter to the ground again, but now that he's upright, he's the one floating.

His heart is pounding in his ears, horribly out of time with the Melody. The Melody is playing again. He hums along to it idly as he floats aimlessly above the terrain, bare feet occasionally grazing a crystal embedded in the earth. None of this is familiar. None of this should be here. Perhaps none of it is. The thought is horrible and nauseating, but the sight of the stars on the horizon brings him back down to Earth - so to speak.

The first person he comes across is treated to an old man, floating about half a foot off the ground, wide-eyed and even more disoriented than should be expected from someone who just woke up on a foreign moon.]

Where... waar is dit...?

( the mirror has two faces / a)

[His life, Dr. De Kuiper thinks, keep growing more and more bizarre.

Now that he has gotten a proper explanation of where he is and what has happened, it's quite fascinating. But as much as he argued that the Prismals should keep him contained, that the risk is too great and he is too dangerous to leave loose, he's given free rein to pick out an apartment unit.

So if you choose a unit up towards the top floor, you might find your neighbor standing outside, obliviously cheerful despite the fact he still has no shoes, or even socks. Not that he needs them - he hasn't stopped floating since he regained consciousness.]

The technology here is fascinating!

( knottingham forest / b )

[It's been far too long since he's been able to take in anything culturally. It's been constant work and experimentation since he... well. Going out for a night on the town was absolutely out of the question. So a free show with VIP seating and food is too enticing for Siebren to ignore.

He takes in the show in awe, almost entirely enraptured with it and unaware of the consequences.

Once the play has ended and he's been filled with a strange elation, he leaves the stage and heads to the nearest space where he can clearly see the sky. He pulls up the earth to make a floating chair made of rock, reclines back, and starts to intently watch the stars, unaware that it's something of a strange sight to see. He'll give bystanders a warm smile and even gesture for them to join him. On the grass, unfortunately - he can only do one rock chair at a time.]

I: Arrival
[This place reeks.

Urie has more or less become accustomed to the scent of a city, but Lunatia is an assault on the senses that he definitely has never experienced. It's foreign and almost overwhelming, the scent of unfamiliar things overlaid with something muskier and- beneath all of that- blood. Blood he's used to, the rest not so much.

After only a minor scuffle when they had first tried to get him onto the ship he's gotten busy doing some exploring and recon. Kidnapping definitely is the last thing he needs to be dealing with right now given what he was trying to manage back home, but he's not going to sit around and mope about it. Instead he's jumping right into investigating what he can around Level 2, his attention so focused on making a mental map of locations that he isn't quite watching where he's going and bumps into someone.

He's fairly solid and barely stumbles but whoever he ran into might not be so lucky.]

... Sorry.

II: Knottingham Forest A
[Superstition and romantic symbology (or romance at all) have never really been his thing, but apparently even just listening idly to the foxes talk about the Tree of Knots was more than enough to convince them that he definitely wanted to participate.

So here he is, holding onto the other end of a ribbon across from a complete stranger after being bustled over to join in with a fellow Moonblessed.]

We don't have to do this. I won't be offended or anything if you want to leave since you just got roped into this.

[He didn't want to be here in the first place, after all.]

III: Preparation H A
[Urie's definitely signed up for more dangerous experimentation in his life, so he figures that this can't be that bad. It's beneficial anyway, and he wants to understand the full extent of what sort of things are available to him here. Not to mention that helping out and ingratiating himself to the locals is beneficial for a myriad of other reasons, so he's donned one of the LIFE suits and agreed to their testing.

Things seem to be going off without a hitch until the suit suddenly constricts hard, and if it weren't for his durability and regeneration it might have bruised a rib. Fortunately(?) the most it does is constrict his airflow, making him double over in shock for a second.

But the half-ghoul is quick-thinking and flexes before grabbing at the collar of the suit and just... Ripping it open with his bare hands, gasping to catch his breath when that loosens the material.]

I... Would say they need more fucking testing.

[But between using his strength and the malfunctioning suit he's suddenly low on Chroma and it looks like he might topple over.]

[ It's easy enough to hide out in the closet when the other woman finally wakes to... tear the entire place apart. Wang Yi doesn't see exactly what's going on, but she can gauge the damage being done just beyond the door. Furniture is being thrown (she tries not to think about a similar situation; her village pilfered and burned. This is nothing to that extent, but damned if she allows someone to wreck her space), and she is speaking to something that has the voice similar of what she's heard through the intercom— all of which is foreign to her, but she knows she isn't going to let them leave the room without giving her some answers.

Waste of time. C'mon—

That's her cue. Wang Yi bursts from the closet just as the woman moves to leave and shoves her against the opposite wall. She underestimates how heavy the woman is; she has to put her entire strength and body weight against her only to lightly press her in place. But Wang Yi is strong, too; her tridents' sharp edges threaten to break the skin under her chin. ]

[The room that Ritsu sees is definitely more lived-in than any of the newcomers', decorated with darker curtains and candles. A collection of beakers and chemicals are laid across one desk while another is piled with books a few trinkets that look quite esoteric, most notably a crystal ball set on a little cushion.

Natsume is seated at the latter table, flipping through a book and taking notes until that familiar voice crosses his ears. He sits up in clear surprise, looking to and fro before finally turning to the mirror. For a moment he just blinks in bewilderment before smiling, closing the book with a practiced flourish before smiling to match Ritsu's own expression.]

Said wearer appears to be a knight straight out of a medieval fantasy. He's tall for a knight, and he's clad in silver armor and a white mantle. In addition, his right hand -- no, his entire right arm appears to be made of silver. Lastly, he has a sword sheathed at his left hip.

Bedivere stops walking when he notices that he isn't alone. As unusual a sight as a human is when their surroundings are nothing but crystal, the fact that she's wearing such an odd mask only makes her stand out all the more.]

The Hollow Knight was still too unused to the world around them. Where before it would have caught sight of something in its periphery, it was too used now to staring at nothing very much. By the time it had seen its sibling again, its gaze had been misted by clouds of orange light.

That was why the Knight appeared to have come out of nowhere for it. The Hollow Knight stopped in its tracks, staring down at its sibling. There was no expression on its unmoving face, but the shock jarred its long and slender spine, causing its carapace to creak ever so slightly as it tensed the segmented joints of its fingers.

But it was a shock soon melted, because there was its sibling, still as small as they had been that day, long ago, when it had chosen to follow King and (Father?) Wyrm instead of returning to help them. Still as small as they had been when they entered the Black Egg and relieved The Hollow Knight of its misery.

The Hollow Knight slowly bent its knees, sinking down and curling over until it was on a level with them.

It reached out, trembling slightly, and offered the hand that it had not, so many long years ago.

A. Mirrors

[Enji selects an apartment unit toward the back of the building where he hopes there aren't many people coming and going. Privacy and silence are two things he requires out of a home, and while it is smaller than the luxury apartment he is used to, it will do. Becoming the #1 hero hasn't changed him to the point where he has become a diva.

The belongings that he has with them are few, so his first moments in his new (and hopefully temporary) room involve undressing as he walks around to inspect the place. He stops in front of a mirror, and inadvertently touches one of the settings buttons which gives him black hair, and touching it again makes it appear blond. Enji squints curiously at the mirror, shifting through different looks with that signature scowl on his face.

Resting asshole face is clearly this guy's deal if anyone happens to be watching from the other side. They'll have an eyeful of an upset-looking, half-dressed middle aged man looking like he's trying to learn to use snapchat filters for the first time.]

B. Knotting Tree

[Whatever is going on isn't something he's familiar with. The festivals at home look nothing like this, so when he's pushed by a crowd of fox-like creatures toward the tree with ribbons, he's doing his best to resist without causing physical harm to either of them. It's clear they're non-threatening in their approach but Enji absolutely hates fanfare like this.

Still, he's used to having to do things he would rather not out of obligation. Part of being a hero was having public appearances and getting familiar with a community. He's unsure if he's going to be in this place for long, but whether he is home or anywhere else, he doesn't stop being that. So he goes along with the knot tying without much fuss since it's easier to go along with than to continue to be ignored as he tried to not so politely decline.

Whoever ends up his partner in this will quickly notice that Enji has absolutely no idea what he is doing and he doesn't appear to be the most approachable either.]

C. Out and About

[Enji arrived in his costume, and although lodging was provided to them, clothing was not. You'll find him wandering around the shopping district of Level 2, going from shop to shop trying to find clothing that would fit him, not cause his eyes to burn, and hopefully not be terribly expensive.

Or maybe you'll spot him arguing with a store clerk over not being able to understand exactly what chroma is or how to obtain it.]

iris moon; mika is an iris, so beware.

( this is just the worst. being separated from all he knows (from his dear oshi-san, more importantly), brought to a completely foreign place, with his body burning up with a need for something he doesn't quite understand, and with certain features that should never belong to him. mika kagehira adorns long rabbit ears that match his hair color, though one of them is crooked and broken, and the other seems to be missing a tiny piece at the top. he looks poor and imperfect, which isn't much of a surprise. it doesn't bother him that he's not cute, that these ears aren't prim and proper; it bothers him that he has them to begin with, because valkyrie doesn't have a rabbits motif. he does, the traitor from the unit, and it's ironic how destiny works. maybe this is their punishment. maybe this is his punishment.

nevertheless, through ups and downs, the boy is settled well in his new "home" (it isn't home, it does offer him that feeling of safety, that known warmth), and inspects himself in the mirror that for him isn't new — it's his first time here, after all. there are tears at the corners of his mismatched eyes that threaten to fall but never do, and his hands manhandle the ears that again, do not belong to him. they should never. )

Hhh, w-what's up with these, I don't want them... Why won't they come off... ( no matter how much he tugs and pulls, they won't budge. no matter how much it hurts, he doesn't want them. )

Oshi-san... I hafta find oshi-san... He's probably real scared wherever he is... nnnnah, I hate all of this! W-What's up with this weird place!

( though it's a mystery how those tears have yet to fall from his eyes, amidst his slow-descend into panic and despair, the mirror in front of mika has changed, showing his breakdown to whoever was lucky (or unlucky) to see it. )

knottingham forest.

( though his feelings towards this place have hardly subdued, there's nothing the idol can do by staying locked up in his room. he has to walk around, talk to others, gather information, find a way out. during all of this, he comes across the fabled tree of knots; despite all, its sight is one to drawn mika in. he finds it beautiful, rightfully so, with all its colors and knots. it helps shoo away his current concerns as he approaches curiously, and though he was previously wary of the foxes that try to speak to him, he listens. deep passion and eternal bonding — he thinks of shu, and forbiddingly thinks of someone else, too, who no longer deserves to be in his mind. this is something mika wishes he could do with his oshi-san, something to represent their forever bond, and how unlike someone, he'd always be with him.

he holds a red ribbon close to his chest, taking close but slow steps towards the tree. he doesn't have anyone to tie it with. he doesn't know anyone here. it makes no sense of do this with strangers... but he still looks, every now and then, around his surroundings, left and right, as though friends or classmates would magically appear. at times, he stares at random people that catch his attention either because they seem friendly, or perhaps because they're a curious person. it's easy to notice, too, how anxious-looking mika is.

if you're a kind soul, or drawn by how fragile this high school boy looks, then come help him? )

[ The Hollow Knight stiffened as the door was opened, curling its raised fist to its chest and holding it there, unsure of how to stand now that it had been caught about to knock. The creature that had opened the door was another of strange-looking bug, but different from the Moon Knights and the Doctors. A sub-species, perhaps?

At the question, The Hollow Knight gave a slow, uncertain nod. It was used to anyone that spoke to it to know it couldn't answer (althought some, like that young Stag Beetle at the Station, had tried anyway), and it hesitated before raising its hand to its throat and up over the lower portion of its mask.

That was how the mute bugs of Hallownest had indicated silence, wasn't it? ]
