Whether for magical purposes or aesthetic ones (although knowing Tevinter culture, very likely a heavy emphasis was given to the latter), the patterning drawn on his skin is quite striking. Fenris has always doubted they were created to enhance his features particularly, but Danarius had liked showing him off to intimidate his rivals and make his friends envious to possess such an exquisite prize.
