The reference never failed to get Snake to smile a bit.

Snake was however in no position to appreciate the time difference between them. He had seen Otacon cry many times, only sort of got more comfortable with it, but far from better at handling it.

Strong emotions on his part or anyone else's were a massive stumbling block for him, and even really understanding the emotional gravity of it all wouldn't help him approach it better in any real way.

All he could really think of was redirection and distraction. Clapping his working hand down on Otacon's sodden shoulder, Snake squeezed it in a way he guessed might be reassuring.

"We need to get out of here."
