Snake was a little startled by the complete lack of push back or lecture for it, but he shook it off. It was too much of a fucked up situation to dwell on odd behaviour just yet.

Instead, he drew up the memory of old land nav courses. It wasn't the easiest terrain to keep track of with so much flat, purple dust and none of the familiar stars, but from the shape of the spring he still remembered where he'd come from at least.

"I came from that direction, so in the interest of avoiding any more exotic insect bites, probably best to keep heading this way." Not exactly the smartest answer, but 'keep moving in the opposite direction' was the best idea he had currently.

So he may as well start walking. Frankly, travelling with Otacon wasn't going to be a stealth thing or moving particularly fast anyway, so Snake felt he could get away with not putting his cigarette away just yet.
