[ This is how it was supposed to be, wasn't it? Meeting like this, her hand in his as they walked down the aisle. None of the rest of that was supposed to happen. Everything went wrong. They were set up to fail, played with like puppets. Their hopes and dreams plucked and then cut like strings. They were used; all their memories, all their lives, tainted. Noctis burns with anger, is choked by grief and shame. Now they're finally together, they can actually talk again at last, and he can't even be strong enough to find the words. Luna always had to be strong for both of them. She's been through so much, done so much for him, for everyone, even after she was gone, and he still couldn't save her.

He tugs her hand and wraps his arms around her, holding her tight. Why did things have to be this way? He's tried for so long to move past these feelings, to accept what happened, but every time he sees Umbra or the pressed sylleblossom, her trident or the ring on his hand, or any of the thousand things that remind him of her, the pain feels fresh. He should've been able to do this without her, take the crystal's power, banish the darkness from their star, but he can't. He can't do anything without her. And now, she's here, and he still can't do anything but hold her and cry, and choke out the words. ]

I'm sorry... Luna, I'm so sorry...

[ All the things he wants to say, all he regrets never telling her, and that's all he can get out. ]
