Ling looks over again as Sizhui asks for his hand. There's no good reason to refuse, though, and if he's going to have to do that "moonlacing" thing, he would much rather it be this than something actually indecent. Besides, Sizhui is a friendreliable someone he knows: he could do worse in a partner. More importantly: Ling can't lose his spiritual power. If this is what he has to do, isn't that only a minor inconvenience? He can at least try it once, and see how it makes him feel.
