[ Ferdinand's father may have been a corrupt, self-serving noble unworthy of his titles or lands, but if nothing else, the man saw to it that his firstborn son was bred to take his place one day. Ferdinand does quite well when it comes to being polite, even if he struggled in his youth to show empathy to those around him. He can tell that this man, this Valmont, would not be terribly out of place among the ranks of the nobility in his own world, though first impressions are simply that.

The tea he has selected carries some light, floral hints, pleasant to the refined tastes of his home of Fódlan. It actually surprises him how universal some of the most common flavors of tea are, that even here, in this strange world, he's still able to find a decent rose petal blend and something that resembles bergamot. ]

I may not be familiar with this England that you speak of, but if it has an understanding and appreciation of tea, then my opinion of it could not possibly be any higher. You can tell a lot about a person by their taste in tea, and I feel that the same holds true with nations as well.

[ He's gotten to know quite a variety of people just by sitting across a table from them. While he's genuine in his desire to make a good first impression to his neighbors, this also helps him to get know and understand them a little better.

Once the water is properly heated, which doesn't take long thanks to the futuristic efficiency of these unusual stove, he turns off the heat and and brings it to the table. Each teacup has a single silken bag, and he pours the water carefully into both cups before setting it on the cushioned cloth on one side of the tray he brought. They'll still need to let the tea sit for a minute while it brews, but there's no reason they can't enjoy the aroma. ]

If I may ask, what brought you to another country? I'm certain that couldn't have been easy for you.
