Lisa Frank's LSD Fun House
anytime, anywhere on the moon Iris | top

Everything is darkness except for dim lights sparkling in the distance, a faint gleam that greets you as you start to unfurl from your dormant state. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Throat parched and skin dry and aching, you grope your body in alarm to make sure your possessions are still in place. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers only rewards you with an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

A ⬤ As you traverse the near-barren landscape, you feel something sting your skin. It's small and subtle at first, then you finally catch sight of it: an elegant, crystalline mosquito buzzing around from the corner of your eye. However, a pest is still a pest. After a while, marks near your welts begin to form strange patterns on your skin, mimicking ancient runes. Each rune has with it a particular side-effect that may hinder you on your journey:
The Mark of the Enchanter: Hallucinations, hallucinations galore. Your character will see everything and anything their imagination can conjure and will have difficulty separating reality from fiction.
The Mark of the Destroyer: Limbs start to cease their function, causing you to stumble or try and get around one-handed. Other certain body parts may be affected as well. Look at the bright side: you can stop worrying about jiggle physics and hiding your fear boner.
The Mark of the Sinner: Your hunger, your thirst, your fatigue and your desire are at an all-time high. Your impulses are rabid and uncontrollable. Maybe you experience only one of those symptoms. Maybe you experience them all. All you know is that you want relief now.

These effects will eventually clear up with a bit of accidental or purposeful physical contact with another person, making you wonder if there was anything wrong with you at all.

B ⬤ Hunger starts to gnaw at you vigorously. Perhaps you consider hunting the moon's creatures to sate your hunger. That's when you see it: a thick, meaty, juicy meal on legs. No, we're not talking about Alex Louis Armstrong. A wild silver-white pegasus runs across the purple landscape, its hair billowing in the wind as its hooves smack loudly against the ground. Try and shoot it, and you may find your efforts curtailed by its legendary rage. Eyes aglow and wings beating up a storm, this pegasus is no dainty horse. Two thousand pounds of pure muscle swoop down and charge at you, all blades and ammunition deflecting off its impenetrable skin. Taming appears impossible; it will buck anyone away and leave a sizable horn- or hoof-shaped hole in them for their efforts. Hunting it, however, should be easier. Relatively.

C ⬤ Or you may decide that you'd like to take a drink in the prismatic waters. A small pond can be found just a few miles away from where you first awoke, but gazing into it reflects what appears to be a window into your own world. You see the faces of loved ones or at least someone very close and familiar to you gathered around your prone body, shaking it frantically as though to try and rouse you, yet your image lies frozen and unresponsive, not even a whisper of life running through you. Did you die in your world? Is this your afterlife? The questions start to pile up along with the gnawing dread that you may never return home again.

Camp Nowhere
anytime, anywhere on the moon iris | top

Time moves strangely when you're trapped on a moon with no sun to guide you. Hours feel like days, and days feel like weeks. Travelling has rendered you weak and tired. Luckily, a few crystal formations in the shape of a cavern may offer you a small place refuge as you decide to nap. You notice a few artifacts left over from previous explorers.
D ⬤ A comm unit abandoned within the cavern will display the former owner's idol obsession. As you tap the buttons indiscriminately, a holographic screen will appear, and you will see a fabulous recorded concert featuring three bubbly young ladies in animal print, singing to you about something called Cordis, a cat, and a bag of gems. Does this make any sense to you? Probably not, but the beat is catchy. You may even find yourself tapping a foot along to it. Don’t worry. We know it’s plastic love.

E ⬤ There's a small cooler-like container of preserved powdered food bags labeled with only the word “Edible” that can be safely consumed. Although the powder tastes as bland as you’d expect, it’s oddly filling, sating either hunger or thirst. But who will be the first — and the bravest — to try eating them?

F ⬤ A strange, pointed instrument is among the effects found in the cavern. It's silver, long, and thin with a curved end and a light. When you grip it with warm hands, it seems to vibrate enthusiastically and comes in three settings indicated by a frowny face, a neutral face, and a happy face. What could it mean exactly? No one knows, but you can fiddle with it to your heart's desire. Just don't ask yourself where it's been before. You don't want to know.

Interstellar Action Force Assemble
prisma, iris | top

Over a day has passed when a group of people find you worse for wear. Some are full of uncertainty and fear while some are full of curiosity and excitement. They claim that they are scientists from the planet Prismatica here to investigate the sudden appearances of rainbow crystals in the skies. That means you and the others they’ve located within the area. You are all a surprising find to them, and they are quick to load everyone in their transport vehicles for examination and questioning.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why are the pegasi so ill-tempered? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They do have questions on their own, so it’s only fair to trade. They tell you about their world as they poke and prod you, trying to understand what you are and how you came into their land. If they’re not trembling in fear, some of them may ask you odd and invasive questions in return, such as what the rate at which your body achieves thermoregulation is, how long your refractory period is, and if you would be willing to submit various kinds of body fluids to them. It's up to whether you wish to comply or protest.
G ⬤ If you react violently, you will be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. They came prepared, so have fun with that! In any case, conscious or not, you’ll be brought into one of the transport vehicles. If you choose to peacefully cooperate, you’ll be provided any necessary first aid and a refreshing drink to help you recuperate after the rough time you had for the past few days. Each transport vehicle has a few small rooms to rest in, but due to the limited space, you’ll have to snuggle up with someone else on that bunk bed. Unfortunately, the moonshine fruit the ship is also carrying in its cargo has an extremely sweet smell that’s been permeating through certain areas of the ventilation system… Taking a whiff of it may inebriate you for the rest of the trip.

H ⬤ It’s a bumpy ride as terrain vehicles draw over various crystal formations until you see a large dome-like structure up ahead. Within its confines lies the seat of the Prismatica's government, Prisma. It’s a bureaucratic wet dream: skyscrapers practically touch the upper surface of the dome, windows glimmer with a prismatic sheen as daylight hits them, and small ships can be seen flying to and from its spaceport. The scientists, members of the Lunar Scientia, usher you into their facilities for tests. Arrivals are likely to twitch, tremble, and panic as Lunar Scientia fellows take and broadcast every embarrassing, unfiltered detail about you — height, weight, age, strange odors, estimated frequency of sexual activity —- to one another. These scientists will ask you politely to undress, too, but understand if you don't want to. They're especially fascinated by the readings of pure Chroma inside you, whispering among one another excitedly about the possibility of the new arrivals being a new moon species. What should they call them? Moonborne? Moonblessed?

I ⬤ At long last, the questions and physical examinations are done. They’ve decided to call the arrivals as the Moonblessed. They’ll take you under their care until they understand more about you. You're allowed a very refreshing hot shower and a warm meal for your efforts. Don’t worry, the meal was imported from their planet. “Planet?” you might ask, but you won’t need to wonder for too long. The ships are preparing for their next destination: the nearby planet Prismatica, where you will be dwelling for the time being. You're free to explore the government center until then.

Lunatia, Prismatica | top

It only takes a couple hours for the ships to reach their home planet. The ships drop the characters off at the city of Lunatia, where they will be given their communication devices and a plastic card they can present to certain landlords at any residential district for their subsidized (read: absolutely free) lodging. Officials at Prisma instructed the newcomers to await further instructions from the government, but you have a lot of time to kill before then. Why not explore in the meantime? Learn the ins and outs of the world, get a job, transform under the full moon, and explore the many mysteries of planet Prismatica!

She had a point. They may have ingested some of it. Though he neglected to bring it up, they won't know if they ate any until it came out the other side. But considering how his stomach growled and he wanted nothing more than a giant slab of steak, he was pretty sure they weren't going to get any answer to that effect any time soon.

"If I cough up any sparkles, I'll letcha know." Yosuke liked to use humor. Maybe that'd help a little here.

As they headed on, he did take a moment to look over his hands, still bearing marks from what were once bleeding scratches from their brush with the crystals. Obtaining that rod was no easy task, sharp stony edges biting into his palms every time he relied on it as a crutch. If he had any pieces stuck in his skin, he wouldn't know... especially not after that strange healing touch.

"Urf," he grunted as he began to brush off his hair, small flecks of crystal falling from it.

"S'like I woke up in a damn craft store discount bin!"
pishirogane: ([Chibi] Urr...)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-09 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
"And I will let you know should I happen to do the same." Humor? At the moment, the joke completely soared overhead and disappeared into the horizon.

Walking on, she took into consideration their surroundings, seeing if they had any other viable options if the crystals didn't work out. There appeared to be some outcroppings and caves, but without knowing if there was any wildlife, they'd have to be careful.

"I'd offer to check your hair, but I don't have a comb."
topgun_textiles: (RENOVATE YOUR ASS!)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-09 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, ya don't need my hair stuck up in the comb anyway. Bleachin' it makes it break off easy, and people might ask if you're goin' gray or somethin' dumb." Yup. Maybe he was feeling something from the water... or maybe this place was WAY too quiet for his liking.

A wind had begun to blow, kicking up dust as the crystal structure was... bigger than he'd imagined. The place was like a skyscraper, and he craned his neck to look at the damn thing.

"Okay, get ready to run if it gets hairy." He took a breath, and-

"RAAAAAAGGH-" Gave a hefty kick to the wall of crystal before them. It sang, echoing through the air around them...

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-10 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"... Why did you start bleaching it again anyway?" She knew there was the whole festival with Rise, but she could've sworn afterwards, he'd let it go back to black.

Finally at the crystal, it was bigger than she thought it might be. Honestly, how had it grown so massive? And it was still here? What was it made of? Were she more geologically inclined, she might have an idea of its make-up immediately, but perhaps later, she could have a look into it.

"... Huh? Oh, right."

Not that she would recommend he punch it - kick it in this case. Still, what was done was done and it echoed around them. She waited, but... she sideways glanced towards Kanji, internally cringing for him.

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-10 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I kinda missed it." A half-lie. People had started making remarks, if not wondering if the 'old man' dyed his hair to look younger. Short of tugging his pants down and showing them that no, he was your basic black, he just got tired of trying to explain things.

But he'd struck the crystal with all that he had, and the singing moved through his body as well. After the sound echoed out into the wastes and died down, Kanji had a slow tremor that worked from his ankles on up to his shoulders.

"Remind me never to do that again. Hoogh. Looks sturdy, though." But he froze.

"Whoa, whoa... you smell that? Food."
pishirogane: Art by: Moonku (Contemplating)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-11 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Even if it wasn't the whole truth, Naoto still nodded as though it was. He had his reasons and she would respect them... but she did like his normal hair color. It suit him well.

As the sound died away, the structure remained. "Yes, this will work for now."

Alright, shelter was established, but next would come food. Which, she furrowed her brows at Kanji. "What? You smell food?"

... She didn't smell anything.
topgun_textiles: (You can't be serious.)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-11 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even halfway through her reply, he took off around the massive structure. His body had gotten the best of him somehow, motoring along as he tested the air again and again. Weaker? No. Stronger? Yes. Yes, keep going this way-

Kanji skidded to a stop when he found an opening, any sign of tracks long gone thanks to a recent blustery couple of hours. But he was sure of it here, the faint smell of some sort of food. But alongside it was the char of spent fuel, and something... something else. Something he couldn't identify.

"Holy crap! Someone's been here! They were camping!"

Within this cavern, he noticed abandoned bedding sets with something silver gleaming inside. Stranger still was a large box of some kind, and when he went to seek some kind of seam, he managed to pry it open. A portable fridge...? The smell was coming from here. The bags inside contained a powder, and were labeled 'edible'.
pishirogane: (Suddenly)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-13 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Startled, Naoto followed him a half-second later, bewildered at where he was going and still at the fact he smelled food. And right now, he was tracking it. But that didn't make sense. Had that crystal done something more? Increased his sense maybe? But how would that be possible?

... But he found an opening to the structure. Cocking her head, her eyes widened at his discovery.

"... But... who?" And what was this? It was definitely a campsite inside the cavern - thank goodness, there were bedding sets still - but just who set this all up? She wanted to inspect it further, but Kanji had opened a box already. Bags? 'Edible'? "Dehydrated rations?"
topgun_textiles: ([Shades] Wary)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-13 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess so. Do they add water...?" He opened a bag and stuck his hand inside, pulling some out for a sniff. It had a vague odor rather like chicken stock, but not much else going for it.

He licked. Crunch crunch. "No flavor..."

Kanji then scowled, considering before he poured more into his hand. There was a ton in here, and he'll just pay this person back. Yet nothing rang alarm bells in his mind: The smells of anyone living here wasn't... 'fresh', if that made sense.

"May as well take up on the good luck, yeah?"
pishirogane: Art by: Moonku (Contemplating)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-14 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
"That's how it should work..." But apparently, that wasn't going to stop him from opening the bag and just eating it. Quiet, watching him warily for any other reaction... nothing happened.

"No flavor... Strange. It should have one the moment you consumed it, your saliva would've activated it even minimally." So the powder just... had no flavor. Who'd willingly eat it?

"... Yes, I suppose we should. I was concerned what we would do if the temperature dropped."
topgun_textiles: (urk--)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-14 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
He thought so, too. Why'd his spit not pick up on anything? But he remembered that rations weren't meant to be super tasty to encourage soldiers not to inhale the lot of it.

"That's weird, I feel kinda... full now." It wasn't satisfying in the slightest, but he felt rather like he'd had lunch about an hour or so ago. Okay, weird space rations. Bravo.

He set the bag down and went to check everything else out. The sleeping bags were dusty, and he shook them off for good measure. They smelled okay, nothing funky-

bvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvt-

It was a long silver object that bounced out of the second bag he'd shaken out. It started to hum for good measure, giving off a distinct vibration.

"...The hell is that?" Lightsaber? No laser. But-
pishirogane: Art by: Yui (Bwah!?)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-14 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, it managed to fulfill its intended purpose." Though, rations without flavor... not that they were likely exploring for fun. Flavor wasn't a requirement always.

Choosing to inspect the sleeping bags with him, Naoto stepped back as he shook them out... and then moved further back at the silver object.

"... Maybe research wasn't their intention." Because that... that looked like a... thing.
topgun_textiles: (NOTHIN' DAMMIT)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-14 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
His eyes moved from the object to Naoto. Then, back to the object. Dread built in his belly. Okay, so he was equal parts relieved he didn't have to play dumb about it, but the fact that she was well-goddamn-aware of what this thing was...!

Well. She's not dumb. Of course she'd know what it was.

"M-maybe they needed some stress relief nights! I mean, who-who the hell'd get anywhere in a dusty ass place like this!?"

bvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv-

Who runs off to the desert with a case full of rations and a fuckin' vibrator?? Not HIS idea of a vacation.

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv-

Oh god, it was still buzzing. Kanji hunkered down to very, very gingerly nudge it over to turn it off. He doesn't know where the fuck it's been.

Naoto might not get a lot of jokes, but this was an object right in front of their faces. She couldn't help the blush on her face as it wasn't something she regularly thought about, but... well, someone enjoyed themselves out here.

"I-I suppose..."

Did it have to keep buzzing?

She at least provided Kanji the decency of turning her head while he tried turning it off.
topgun_textiles: (*Keysmash*!!)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-14 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Smiley faces for settings. Kinda childish. Well, it made it easy to figure out, too.

She turned away as that familiar hot wash of shame prickled up his neck. What a great way to spend an afternoon (evening? morning? What time was it even?), waking up on an alien moon and bumping into someone's long lost sex toy.

...Fuck it. YEET

Kanji pitched it out of the cave. If they wanted it, they could find it.

"Wh-whatever... I guess I should try to get this pit goin'. I at least know how to make a firRE!? Whoa, WHOA!" He stumbled back. What just happened?

He saw fire for a minute. Fire in his hands. Fire hands. Why did he have fire hands? That was Yukiko's thing.
pishirogane: (Hat's off to you)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-15 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
She doesn't even want to think about that.

Hearing the sound of something flying through the air, Naoto glanced first before fully turning, relieved that Kanji had chucked the offending object out. Neither of them needed to see that... and if she had her gloves, maybe she would've moved it herself.

"Yes, but we should...???"

Head snapping towards him as he jumped, she was confused as to why he yelled. That 'toy' wasn't a boomerang, was it? "Kanji-kun, is everything alright?"

So used to the personas using their abilities, it was something else entirely to see your hands suddenly burst into flame. He feared he'd burned his skin, but he felt no sting, and his skin hadn't even reddened. They were still slightly mucked from the water and mingled purple dust.

"H-how should I know?! Look...!" He held his hands over the spent fire pit. He narrowed his eyes and concentrated. He said he knew how to make fire, tried to drum up the same conditions as before...

It was just a small flash, a puff of flame. But it died as quickly as it had appeared. Nothing in the pit caught.

He tried again, and it was much smaller.

"What... what gives? I had a power but I spent it?"
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-16 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
She did watch, and she did see. Though it surprised her, it didn't surprise her either that the fire didn't start.

"... As I was saying, the pit is spent. We need to put in more kindling in order to ignite it and fuel to keep it going."

In the back of her mind, she had to wonder if she could do anything similar. Exploration into such ability would come after they got a fire started.
topgun_textiles: (pic#4596521)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-16 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Right, the pit. There wasn't going to be anything going when everything'd been burned to hell and back. He rose and dusted off his pants.

"Yeah... maybe they tucked somethin' away. I don't see any firewood or anything, though."

Maybe in the dark corners. But try as he might, he found a device that played video and music (some kinda space idol?) rather like a handheld TV, but nothing that would constitute as kindling.

"Looks like they left their tablet. ...A tablet with reception!" He hurried back and sat down, tapping through it.

"How the hell's there a signal out here!? That means there's a tower, a city, civilization or somethin'...!"
pishirogane: (Hat's off to you)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-18 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
"We might have to venture out again to find something..."

She wouldn't be surprised if they left once they were out of fuel. Examining the pit to get an idea on what they might be looking for, she was back up when he said he found a tablet with reception.

"Yes... or a satellite. Allow me to have a look. We might be able to pinpoint the exact location it's getting its signal from."
topgun_textiles: (pic#3898843)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-18 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
He nodded quickly and handed it over. She was always good at this sort of thing. Also, she looked fucking amazing... how long had it been since they'd seen each other? She'd gotten a little taller-

Kanji subtly slapped his own cheek and focused on the catchy tune as he took a minute to peek into the dead pit himself. They either had some kind of space fuel or there was a source of wood nearby.

He gathered up a charred piece of whatever-the-fuck. With a nod he stood and went to one of the cavern walls. Hmm. Should he write a message in case someone came here and they were gone for more water or something?
pishirogane: Icon by: <user name=pishirogane> (Normal expression)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-18 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
While Kanji busied himself, Naoto fiddled with the device. It was familiar enough - like a smartphone, but lacking some finesse. Though, the outside reminded her of a novel - or perhaps, the novel idea of future technologies in some of her old science fiction books where the author had to imagine how computers would develop.

Thinking along that line, it took her a moment to discover that she could trace the signal... or she could signal for a pick-up. That, of course, after she got past the idol group(?) and music. No time for distractions.

"Hm... Looks like it's still capable of contacting a dispatcher."
topgun_textiles: (urk--)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-18 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
He wrote a single letter before he turned. "Dispatcher!? Seriously?"

Kanji tossed the char aside and hurried back. They could contact help and figure out more about where the hell they wound up.

"Let's do it! We'll see if we're picked up by aliens or somethin'. I'll take anything over this purple desert and protein sand."
pishirogane: (Cool stare)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2019-03-18 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm..."

She had some mixed feelings about doing this, but... At least getting taken somewhere would be a start to figuring out where they were exactly.

Tapping the button, she waited for the confirmation before nodding. "It will take some time, but... someone's coming."
topgun_textiles: (Grumpy Emperor)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2019-03-19 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Awesome."

He lowered to the ground and started up on some leg stretches. You know, in case he needed to get limber after being encased in crystals somehow.

"We should come up with a plan, then, in case they're hostile. I can only kinda drive a car, but it shouldn't be too hard when you've been on bikes and stuff, right?"
