Everything is darkness except for dim lights sparkling in the distance, a faint gleam that greets you as you start to unfurl from your dormant state. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Throat parched and skin dry and aching, you grope your body in alarm to make sure your possessions are still in place. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers only rewards you with an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

Time moves strangely when you're trapped on a moon with no sun to guide you. Hours feel like days, and days feel like weeks. Travelling has rendered you weak and tired. Luckily, a few crystal formations in the shape of a cavern may offer you a small place refuge as you decide to nap. You notice a few artifacts left over from previous explorers.

Over a day has passed when a group of people find you worse for wear. Some are full of uncertainty and fear while some are full of curiosity and excitement. They claim that they are scientists from the planet Prismatica here to investigate the sudden appearances of rainbow crystals in the skies. That means you and the others they’ve located within the area. You are all a surprising find to them, and they are quick to load everyone in their transport vehicles for examination and questioning.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why are the pegasi so ill-tempered? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They do have questions on their own, so it’s only fair to trade. They tell you about their world as they poke and prod you, trying to understand what you are and how you came into their land. If they’re not trembling in fear, some of them may ask you odd and invasive questions in return, such as what the rate at which your body achieves thermoregulation is, how long your refractory period is, and if you would be willing to submit various kinds of body fluids to them. It's up to whether you wish to comply or protest.

It only takes a couple hours for the ships to reach their home planet. The ships drop the characters off at the city of Lunatia, where they will be given their communication devices and a plastic card they can present to certain landlords at any residential district for their subsidized (read: absolutely free) lodging. Officials at Prisma instructed the newcomers to await further instructions from the government, but you have a lot of time to kill before then. Why not explore in the meantime? Learn the ins and outs of the world, get a job, transform under the full moon, and explore the many mysteries of planet Prismatica!

You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.
A ⬤ As you traverse the near-barren landscape, you feel something sting your skin. It's small and subtle at first, then you finally catch sight of it: an elegant, crystalline mosquito buzzing around from the corner of your eye. However, a pest is still a pest. After a while, marks near your welts begin to form strange patterns on your skin, mimicking ancient runes. Each rune has with it a particular side-effect that may hinder you on your journey:✾ The Mark of the Enchanter: Hallucinations, hallucinations galore. Your character will see everything and anything their imagination can conjure and will have difficulty separating reality from fiction.
₪ The Mark of the Destroyer: Limbs start to cease their function, causing you to stumble or try and get around one-handed. Other certain body parts may be affected as well. Look at the bright side: you can stop worrying about jiggle physics and hiding your fear boner.
⍢ The Mark of the Sinner: Your hunger, your thirst, your fatigue and your desire are at an all-time high. Your impulses are rabid and uncontrollable. Maybe you experience only one of those symptoms. Maybe you experience them all. All you know is that you want relief now.
These effects will eventually clear up with a bit of accidental or purposeful physical contact with another person, making you wonder if there was anything wrong with you at all.
B ⬤ Hunger starts to gnaw at you vigorously. Perhaps you consider hunting the moon's creatures to sate your hunger. That's when you see it: a thick, meaty, juicy meal on legs. No, we're not talking about Alex Louis Armstrong. A wild silver-white pegasus runs across the purple landscape, its hair billowing in the wind as its hooves smack loudly against the ground. Try and shoot it, and you may find your efforts curtailed by its legendary rage. Eyes aglow and wings beating up a storm, this pegasus is no dainty horse. Two thousand pounds of pure muscle swoop down and charge at you, all blades and ammunition deflecting off its impenetrable skin. Taming appears impossible; it will buck anyone away and leave a sizable horn- or hoof-shaped hole in them for their efforts. Hunting it, however, should be easier. Relatively.
C ⬤ Or you may decide that you'd like to take a drink in the prismatic waters. A small pond can be found just a few miles away from where you first awoke, but gazing into it reflects what appears to be a window into your own world. You see the faces of loved ones or at least someone very close and familiar to you gathered around your prone body, shaking it frantically as though to try and rouse you, yet your image lies frozen and unresponsive, not even a whisper of life running through you. Did you die in your world? Is this your afterlife? The questions start to pile up along with the gnawing dread that you may never return home again.

D ⬤ A comm unit abandoned within the cavern will display the former owner's idol obsession. As you tap the buttons indiscriminately, a holographic screen will appear, and you will see a fabulous recorded concert featuring three bubbly young ladies in animal print, singing to you about something called Cordis, a cat, and a bag of gems. Does this make any sense to you? Probably not, but the beat is catchy. You may even find yourself tapping a foot along to it. Don’t worry. We know it’s plastic love.
E ⬤ There's a small cooler-like container of preserved powdered food bags labeled with only the word “Edible” that can be safely consumed. Although the powder tastes as bland as you’d expect, it’s oddly filling, sating either hunger or thirst. But who will be the first — and the bravest — to try eating them?
F ⬤ A strange, pointed instrument is among the effects found in the cavern. It's silver, long, and thin with a curved end and a light. When you grip it with warm hands, it seems to vibrate enthusiastically and comes in three settings indicated by a frowny face, a neutral face, and a happy face. What could it mean exactly? No one knows, but you can fiddle with it to your heart's desire. Just don't ask yourself where it's been before. You don't want to know.

Over a day has passed when a group of people find you worse for wear. Some are full of uncertainty and fear while some are full of curiosity and excitement. That means you and the others they’ve located within the area. You are all a surprising find to them, and they are quick to load everyone in their transport vehicles for examination and questioning.

It's up to whether you wish to comply or protest.
G ⬤ If you react violently, you will be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. They came prepared, so have fun with that! In any case, conscious or not, you’ll be brought into one of the transport vehicles. If you choose to peacefully cooperate, you’ll be provided any necessary first aid and a refreshing drink to help you recuperate after the rough time you had for the past few days. Each transport vehicle has a few small rooms to rest in, but due to the limited space, you’ll have to snuggle up with someone else on that bunk bed. Unfortunately, the moonshine fruit the ship is also carrying in its cargo has an extremely sweet smell that’s been permeating through certain areas of the ventilation system… Taking a whiff of it may inebriate you for the rest of the trip.
H ⬤ It’s a bumpy ride as terrain vehicles draw over various crystal formations until you see a large dome-like structure up ahead. Within its confines lies the seat of the Prismatica's government, Prisma. It’s a bureaucratic wet dream: skyscrapers practically touch the upper surface of the dome, windows glimmer with a prismatic sheen as daylight hits them, and small ships can be seen flying to and from its spaceport. The scientists, members of the Lunar Scientia, usher you into their facilities for tests. Arrivals are likely to twitch, tremble, and panic as Lunar Scientia fellows take and broadcast every embarrassing, unfiltered detail about you — height, weight, age, strange odors, estimated frequency of sexual activity —- to one another. These scientists will ask you politely to undress, too, but understand if you don't want to. They're especially fascinated by the readings of pure Chroma inside you, whispering among one another excitedly about the possibility of the new arrivals being a new moon species. What should they call them? Moonborne? Moonblessed?
I ⬤ At long last, the questions and physical examinations are done. They’ve decided to call the arrivals as the Moonblessed. They’ll take you under their care until they understand more about you. You're allowed a very refreshing hot shower and a warm meal for your efforts. Don’t worry, the meal was imported from their planet. “Planet?” you might ask, but you won’t need to wonder for too long. The ships are preparing for their next destination: the nearby planet Prismatica, where you will be dwelling for the time being. You're free to explore the government center until then.

you brought this upon yourself
[ If only that fact had saved Percival from his fate at the camp back in Duplicity, but he'd like to forget that place even existed, still trying to convince himself that it was all a fever dream. Besides, Siegfried wasn't there to experience the joys of food poisoning with them -not that he would have even succumbed to any ailments at all.
Percival does follow suit in removing his own armor and keeping his sword lit up for the time being as he tries to keep his eyes peeled for any potential danger. It's eerily quiet around the camp site, and he can't tell if it's even night with no moon nor sun to follow, just a few distant celestial bodies swallowed up by the purple haze that is the sky.
Eventually, his head does start to tip to one side as the rest of his body slouches over until his head lands on Siegfried's shoulder, only registering the heat that makes him think it would be so nice to lay on his mattress on the Grandcypher right about now. His hand clings to the front of Siegfried's shirt as he would a pillow case while a sizable bit of drool gradually starts to stain the older knight's shirt. ]
i escalated
So not only does he lack the energy and cruelty to wake Percival back up, but he doesn't particularly want to, either.
He shouldn't let sleep overtake him. He's fighting against it until the very end, but the warmth of the fire and the comfort of Percival's presence is too much.
Some time will pass, but eventually gravity will win, and comfort disregarded for proper sleep. Siegfried's arm is curled around Percival's waist as they lay, his face buried in the nape of his neck. ]
are we playing gay chicken now
But this feels... nice.
Siegfried's eyes shut, his face smoothed out serenely, reflecting a youth rarely seen on the battlefield. His lips are almost touching his own neck, his breath falling out gently and tickling the surface of his skin in a way that makes him want to tremble, but he clamps down on the urge as he slowly pushes a hand through Siegfried's long hair and takes advantage of his slumbering state to actually comb his fingers through and show a bit of genuine, unmitigated affection for once. ]
Why do you always make this so hard on me...
no subject
Part of him wishes he could still pretend to be asleep, because he has a feeling Percival will pull away now. Ah well, it was still a nice way to wake up, despite having to face their terrible circumstances again. He sighs. ]
I'm sorry. I must have been more weary than I thought. I truly didn't think I'd fall asleep...
[ He makes no move to pull away, though, actually reaching up and lightly touching the other's wrist. ]
no subject
If only he knew, but perhaps, it's pure exhaustion guiding him at the moment when he doesn't pull away like he wants to. Instead, he closes the small gap left between them, one hand cupped against the back of Siegfried's neck, dry lips pressed to his for a moment before his mind finally registers that Siegfried really might not have the same memories as himself.
...oh no.
Which is bad. This was a bad idea. He peels away as though burned and starts rubbing his eyes furiously to wake himself up. ]
I need water... stay over here. I will fetch some somewhere.
no subject
No.
[ He's not letting Percival deflect. Not this time. Not after months of unwittingly abandoning him and the others in Duplicity, and not after everything they've already been through in this bizarre new world.
Instead, he pulls him forward with little gentleness, continuing the kiss Percival began. ]
no subject
It's just a bad idea that happens to feel very, very good, and Percival is not of the mind to protest. Siegfried's mouth is still incomparably soft and just wet enough to make him muscles deflate and melt everywhere at once, all the tension being eased out of his body. His hands find renewed purchase on Siegfried's back, embracing him as much as their sitting positions would allow as he finds himself surrendering to the moment for once.
Months in Duplicity had eroded whatever resolve he used to have about not wanting to get involved with the other knights, and he almost lost the chance to tell Siegfried everything he wanted to. Everything he needed to. Not that he can at the moment with his tongue busy trying to pry the other's lips apart.
When he can finally summon enough intelligence to speak again, he's too out of breath, too addled to make words come together- ]
You... I should have... said something. Before you left... I should have said-
no subject
His hunger for sustenance is replaced by a need to taste him further, a soft protest uttered between their lips when Percival pulls away.
He feels a little embarrassed that he's let impulse take over like this, but there's not a sliver of regret left in him.
It takes him a moment to decipher what Percival is getting at, but when he understands, he lowers his gaze. ]
I'm sorry, Percival. This time, I didn't know I was to leave the three of you without explanation. I remember nothing of the past few months.
[ He reaches up to thread his fingers through Percival's hair, resisting the urge to kiss him again. ]
It's alright. We are both here now.
no subject
He tips his head to touch Siegfried's forehead as his gaze moves pointedly from the other man's eyes to his mouth, already swelling quickly from the earlier onslaught. It's alluring to him as is the way Siegfried's eyes
look when they're colored as dark as they are, black pupils overriding any trace of pigment. It reminds him of the feral scales hidden beneath his clothes that he once brushed across then touched with his own mouth. ]
I was more upset at my own cowardice ...than anything you did or could ever do. To think it took the mongrel to make me realize that. I- [ He steels himself before kissing Siegfried again, much harder than before. Even if he can't get those three simple words out, he can do this much for as long as he needs to convince Siegfried that Percival doesn't want to just be his former vice captain or merely a comrade in arms anymore. ]
no subject
He doesn't particularly mind. Not when this is beginning to feel more like a dream than a nightmare. It feels irresponsible, to keep losing himself in Percival's mouth and to feel himself grow greedier and more insistent with each kiss, when they have so many problems to deal with.
Their survival can wait, apparently.
He pulls apart only when he needs a respite for air, fingers deeply entwined in the other's locks as he indulges himself in a different way— looking into the other's eyes for the first time in months. ]
I'm... happy you remembered, too.
no subject
His face cracks at just the thought alone before he nudges Siegfried down onto his back so he can properly sit over him, his body weight resting on Siegfried's upper thighs. ]
I remembered too much. Nothing that needs repeating, but if we do manage to make it somewhere indoors, with a bed-
[ This really is challenging when he's watching Siegfried laying down, splayed out before him, his hair spread in an elaborate fan around his face and neck. It's going to be a very difficult couple of days if they don't find civilization soon. ]
...you're not as dense as the other two.
[ A beat then- ]
I want to, for once, not because we need to. None of this nonsense about quotas or watches. I simply want to be with you.
[ There. Now, Vane's voice in the back of his head can stop badgering him. ]
no subject
And— oh. This is different. Siegfried watches him with wide eyes as he settles on top of him, marveling at how striking he looks, even now, covered in strange debris and face lined with exhaustion. His sharp features being so momentarily softened with affection leaves him wanting more, leaves him with a craving to see him more undone. Had he less restraint (or more physical energy), he would have begun disrobing him. As it stands, he rests his palms on Percival's hips, skirting under the hem of his shirt idly.
The words bring heat to his face, and this is one of the rare occasions in which Siegfried looks visibly surprised. He laughs nervously, then sighs, shifting one of his hands to entwine their fingers together. ]
To think, for all this talk of cowardice, you were far braver than me. [ He brings the back of Percival's hand to his lips, kissing his knuckles affectionately. ]
I want to be with you, too. More than once. [ He hesitates again. ]
I can blame our circumstances back then, but the truth is... even without such pressures, I can't deny that my fondness for you goes beyond friendship or that of a teammate.
no subject
He squeezes his fingers around where Siegfried's are linked to his as he moves to lie down half on him, half next to him, in a bid to keep his mind free of baser thoughts. But there is promise in the way he presses next to the other's side, drawn to the heat of his body and the lingering natural scent that is all Siegfried alone. ]
I may have had... thoughts about you. When we were younger.
[ It was hard not to even when he tried to view Siegfried as a mentor and an older brother figure. ]
Nothing particularly exciting.
[ He's already said too much. ]
One of us has to take the lead eventually, and of course, it must be me. We'd never get anywhere waiting for you to make anything resembling a move.
[ His head droops next to Siegfried's as his breaths start to slow down noticeably. ]
I'll take the first watch again.
[ No, he won't. He's going to pass out on him again. ]
no subject
[ For now, Percival deserves a break. He's sure the other has poured his heart out enough for the next few years' worth. He shifts so that he faces the other now, moving his arm so that it rests along his waist. ]
Haha, of course. Let's see if you can keep this up, boldest of knights.
[ He does realize things are different now that Siegfried knows the other's certain feelings, right?! That much is evident when he leans forward and kisses his forehead lightly. ]
Right. I leave my safety to you, then. Good night, Percival.
[ The truth is, he's going to stay awake as long as he can, and then also pass out. It's a night for irresponsibility. ]
