QUESTIONS MEME

THE QUESTIONS MEME

A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!
bloodisthicker: NOT FORGED AT ALL (that autopsy report is old as shit hahah)

I've just got Tarrlok (this journal) from Avatar: Legend of Korra here!

Who is your favourite character from Avatar: the Last Airbender, specifically?

(I can guess who your fave Korra character is so I’m only asking this about ATLA, not ATLOK.)
bloodisthicker: it never fails. (i saw it in my coffee.)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-27 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Uncle Iroh is probably my favorite there, though I also have pretty big soft spots for Sokka and Azula.

so who are yours from the whole series then.....

Toph is my fave from the whole series. I love that she is a disabled character who, because of her disability, has an advantage that the abled characters don’t, and that she takes a lot of pride in who she is.

I’m autistic, and so, that really speaks to me. :D
bloodisthicker: punched any equalists lately (so how you doin')

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-29 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah Toph absolutely rules, I love her so much.

Yep! :D
bloodisthicker: because here is a man of wealth and taste (cue up some rolling stones)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-27 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
HMMM well it depends on the villain and how they view themselves! With Tarrlok it’s kind of a balancing act because he’s definitely a hero in his own mind, so he does things that he thinks are for the greater good and that he thinks will make him look good. In some other instances where I’ve played him he came off as a bit less of a jerk just because he didn’t really have power to abuse in service of that, he was just operating on the same level as everyone else against a common enemy. Like he’s not gonna be a jerk for no reason, he’s gonna be a jerk because he doesn’t want to back down from a position he has in instances where that actually matters to him achieving his goals.

I think villains with more self awareness are a little easier to play on the “actually being a total douchebag” front, but they have other difficulties because of that. Like I played Damon Gant from Ace Attorney and he’s more self aware of how fucked up he is so it’s easier for him to be a capricious douchebag to people, but on the other end that makes deep CR a little difficult because he’s more aware that he doesn’t give a shit about other people.

...I hope that made sense, I was rambling on mobile. Anyway my dream CR hmm. For characters from his canon I’d like to play off of Tenzin because I think that relationship could go interesting places if they got to have Serious Deep Conversations instead of just being political enemies. Also Tenzin owns. I mean there’s also Amon CR for really obvious reasons too. For cross-canon I think the Nohr siblings from Fire Emblem: Fates would be neat and Lillie+Gladion from SM... all gen ofc though I can see ships being possible for the Nohr siblings who seem to be adults.

ANYWAY HMM HMM HMM do you have any villain-y characters you’ve done a mental P5 palace/shadow for, because that shit is good
bloodisthicker: AND FUCK HER TOO (AND I'M LIKE "FUCK YOU")

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-27 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Gant owns, he’s a big orange power man. I love that piece of shit. And dang those sound cool! I do kind of like the idea of palaces for people who aren’t actually complete douchebags like Kamoshida. We kinda got that for Sae and Futaba but yeah!

Anyway hmmm, that’s a tough one. I feel like things would have to go Badly in the way that they do in canon for him to start using it in Prismatica, so like someone is literally about to kill him and it’s the only way to save himself and/or his secret’s out and he panics. In the latter case especially he’d probably try to knock Ren unconscious so he could peace the fuck out, so I think it would depend whether Ren could summon a Persona before passing out.

As far as horrible plans it might be fun to canon update him to the end of the season at some point, since I took him from literally right before things go to shit for him. But it’ll be a while before that ‘cause I want to see how things go before that.

How do you feel about Precision Canon Update Strikes where you go from a reasonably chill canon point to something buckwild, anyway? Is it something you have done?
bloodisthicker: if i do say so myself (a darn good team)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah Persona 1 and 2 seem completely buckwild and if rules, so I can definitely see how that kind of thing would be fun.

Anyway it’s kind of hard to pick but man Water is cool as hell, especially when you get into the fucked up territory! It’s just really cool how versatile it is. Although Air also got unexpectedly horrifying and metal in Book 3 of Korra so that’s a contender.

Anyway favorite Persona boss?
bloodisthicker: but you're the avatar so task force maybe? (hey i just met you and this is crazy)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-28 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
And then they confirmed that Air monks could be terrifying as hell in the Book 3 of LoK with Zaheer and it was metal as fuck.

And yeah I think P3 handled that best tbh since you had a pretty long time to get invested in the final boss. On the other hand the part where you summon Satan to shoot God in the face was a cool moment.
bloodisthicker: awww yeah (shoot me from my most facist angle)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-28 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to quibble with BUT RIVERS IN THE DESERT THOUGH but nah this works great actually.

But his Persona, huh... I mean, Kullervo is the mythological personification of "You fucked up a perfectly good kid is what you did. Look at him. He's a total douchebag," but other than that he doesn't really fit. I'm sure there's gotta be a Greek myth or something that works but it's late and I'm sleepy.

milkisgross: (Well now that you mention it...)

[personal profile] milkisgross 2019-03-28 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
What do you like best about playing Tarrlok?
bloodisthicker: i always thought of you as family. (we will completely purge our sins.)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-28 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
HM I have mostly played him in murdergames so far, and things have gone different in interesting ways every time! He’s only in one season of a canon so it’s pretty easy to review for him, but he’s a complex enough character that there’s a lot to unpack so I think it’s fun to play him in lots of different situations and see how his character arc turns out.

...plus even if he’s a shithead he has the potential to be better than he is and realize how badly he’s fucked up in a way that doesn’t lead to Bad End like in canon. And fuck me I am a sap who wants that!!

Anyway favorite Homunculus?
milkisgross: (I dun get it)

[personal profile] milkisgross 2019-03-28 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man. That's a tough one for me. Most are given really excellent moments to shine, and when I think I've finally made up my mind, I see that moment for a different homunculus and end up changing my mind.

At least for right now, GreedLing's kind of popped into mind. Greed was pretty cool when you first see him in the Devil's Nest, but his relationship with Ling later is really interesting. I'm also a sucker for some really mushy stuff, and the whole thing where Ling gets Greed to realize that he wanted was a fucking friend just hits me really hard.

So, if you were a bender, which kind would you be?
bloodisthicker: because here is a man of wealth and taste (cue up some rolling stones)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-28 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Greedling is a good choice. My personal fave is Wrath just because I like those foxy old men and also he's just got that really interesting complexity to him? So that's cool.

Anyway HMMmmmmmm I think Water or Air probably. Leaning a little more towards Water just because I couldn't go vegetarian... I mean I guess Airbenders are probably still cool with unfertilized eggs and cheese, but I don't think I could survive on those alone...

What is your favorite alchemy specialty?
milkisgross: (According to this...)

[personal profile] milkisgross 2019-03-28 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Wrath is a very handsome homunculus and he's definitely somewhere right underneath GreedLing. I think my favorite thing about him is his wife. First, that she was the only thing that he was allowed to decide for himself in his life, and second, that apparently she slapped him when they first met because of how awkward he was around her.

I'd like to be an earthbender myself. (Toph is my girl, ok?) Water's a close second though.

This might be a boring answer, but I think I'm going to have to go with Roy's flame alchemy, though now that I think about it, Isaac's water-based alchemy from Brotherhood is pretty neat too, even if I don't like his inclusion in the story.

Who's your favorite character from The Last Airbender and/or Korra?
Edited 2019-03-28 21:45 (UTC)
bloodisthicker: it never fails. (i saw it in my coffee.)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-29 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
RIGHT, MRS. BRADLEY IS SO GOOD... I would fund a kickstarter for a prequel manga about those two I swear to Christ. That's the good shit man!!

I'll admit I kind of have a soft spot for Isaac because a friend plays him and like... sometimes you just need someone to dick around with a minor character and make them shine. But anyway! My fave from ATLA is Iroh, and... god is saying Tarrlok's my favorite from Legend of Korra cheating, okay I like Korra herself a lot but I think Zaheer is probably the one I have to go for. What a good antagonist.

...so like, do you have soft spots for any one-off basically filler characters? Not necessarily from FMA or ATLA/LOK, just generally.
milkisgross: (Well now that you mention it...)

[personal profile] milkisgross 2019-03-29 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKE HER TOO! She is secretly the toughest woman in the world for living with two homunculi.

Oh, just because I'm not a fan of Isaac doesn't mean I'm going to dislike people who do like him. To each their own. If your friend can play him with what little we're given about him, then that's pretty awesome!

I think every needs an Uncle Iroh in their lives.

Cabbage man from A:TLA will always hold a dear place in my heart. That show is so full of characters like him, some not appearing in more than a single episode, but they add so much color to the world and I absolutely love it. There's also the guy in the Aunt Wu episode who the Gaang encounters while he's dodging the playpus-bear. OH! And the earthbending kids that Katara beats up to learn about the earthbending tournament where they first meet Toph.

FMA doesn't devote as much detail to little characters like that, but there are few people that spring to mind. There's the bellhop in the hotel in Central who comes out to check on Winry when she's waiting for Al to return and you can see how much he sympathies with her. I also really like Dominic . He's one of the few people who can call Ed a flea and get away with it because he's such an intimidating-looking guy.

Now I have to ask you the same question, especially for A:TLA since that series is so full of colorful characters, but other series are fine too.
bloodisthicker: it never fails. (i saw it in my coffee.)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2019-03-29 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
God she’s so good. I think she and Cabbage Man are kind of my answers for that, especially when they decided to have Cabbage Man’s son or something start up the budget motor/airship option in Legend of Korra... that was good stuff.
