QUESTIONS MEME

THE QUESTIONS MEME

A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!

Not sure if this counts as a CR question, but would you wanna have Engineer and Gumshoe chill together sometime? I love our thread with them so far.

I am enjoying their thread a lot too! I'm canon blind, so their bonding is very amusing. I'm definitely fine with them chilling in some manner sometime!

No worries! Long story short, Engie's a mechanical engineer and supergenius mercenary that builds big guns and stuff, from a very silly 10+-year-old shooter. Which is another reason why I love these two, because Gumshoe is a detective and Engineer is a wanted criminal. Anyway, YES okay I am 100% down too then.

I see! Yes, it does sound like a fun dynamic, and I like the irony. Gumshoe will probably be conflicted if he finds out that he's a criminal. But yes great, I look forward to this CR's future! May there be many steaks to enjoy.

EDIT: You know, I should follow the rules of this meme and ask you questions too! So, what's something that drew you to pick up Engie and continue playing him even now?

Oh, that's a good question! Playing Engie's been an interesting journey. I played him briefly around 2014. A lot of things initially drew me to him - one being that he's one of my favorite Team Fortress 2 characters to play. I also just loved his personality, especially that he's this combo of super genius and chill southern dude who invents all kinds of stuff. Plus he's from Texas - like me!

Unfortunately, RPing him was one of those make-an-account-and-forget-about-it-a-week-later kind of things, but it also coincided with the fact that I stopped playing Team Fortress around then too.

Then last year I caught up to the supplemental comics (which have a BIG running storyline going on rn) that I got REALLY into. So I picked up TF2 again and caught up with all the updates and stuff and remembered how much I loved it. I was initially thinking of picking up a different character, but then I revived my Engie account and remembered how much I enjoyed actually playing him. Then I met a couple people who still RPed from it (it was crazy RP popular back in, like, 2010) and it took off from there!

Ooh, I see! That sounds like lots of interesting stuff! It is great to have characters with contrasts to them (genius, but chill) and relatable aspects. And I'm glad there's some good supplemental material still going on! Sounds like a fun journey!

THAT IS SEVERAL QUESTIONS, okay here I go

- Yes, I am aware of his French name, and I adore it.
- Ooh, let's see... I think my favorite pun name would be Luke Atmey. I also have to appreciate the classic, original "Mr. Sahwit? Or should I say... Mr. Did It!" I cannot pick a single overall general favorite pun.
- In terms of canonmates, Maggey Byrde and Tyell Badd are the pipe dreams of characters I'd want to play him off of. In terms of cross-canon, I've really liked the idea of playing him off of Brooklyn 99 characters. I think he'd fit in very well with them!
- Because I don't know who John Spartan is. But it is a cool-sounding name!

Okay, I should ask you a question. Hmmm... What's one thing you're looking forward to doing with Ren in the game? (As long as it doesn't involve P5 endgame spoilers! I'm... still working my way through it)

- Oh I did not know that! And I also did not know that he was called Benjamin Hunter. Cool stuff!
-lol yes he'd fit in well with them
-Ahhh yeah I've vaguely heard of that movie, if not those jokes!

IT'S OKAY I guess it'll give him some work to do??

Okay that's a tough one. It would have to be something mundane, and it can't be too useful or make his life too easy. Like, maybe the ability to teleport two feet at a time?

What's... your favorite Persona, in terms of the beings themselves rather than the games?
trenchdoting: (glint in eye)

[personal profile] trenchdoting 2019-03-28 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
That's fair! And thanks!

And ooh, those all sounds like neat choices! I have to delve more into Persona, but it's cool to learn all these details about them! I'm glad there's a Vincent Prince-sounding persona.

Some loose plans include him trying to join the Moon Knights, finding things to investigate and growing as a person while sorting out conflict with Edgeworth!

Will Gumshoe get a job here that will pay him what he's worth? (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)
trenchdoting: (cheery salute)

[personal profile] trenchdoting 2019-03-28 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully!! He's planning to try joining the Moon Knights, and he'll probably do some sort of job on the side that has yet to be decided. Either way, I'm optimistic that he'll reel in some Chroma!

Okay, now what to ask in turn... did L'arachel's horse come with her?

how would you describe ace attorney to someone that has never played it
trenchdoting: (cheery salute)

[personal profile] trenchdoting 2019-03-29 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Anime layers. They're visual novel murder mysteries in which a defense attorney (usually Phoenix Wright) goes through 4-5 cases in a game, and in each case a client has to be proven innocent of murder against unlikely odds. That also involves going up against a prosecutor, with each game featuring a different one that acts as some sort of foil/rival/antagonist to the main character. There's a colorful cast of characters with lots of humor and emotional content, and also spirit mediums are a thing!

The series consists of the original trilogy (starring Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey), the latter three games (which shift around the protagonists), two prosecutor-based spin-off games, a Professor Layton crossover game and two spin-off games set in old school Japan that might never get localized. The original trilogy is actually getting rereleased for a number of platforms next month!

From a Dangan Ronpa perspective, it does have similarities in consisting of investigation and trial phases in which the player collects evidence and uses it to contradict others' testimonies. But Ace Attorney has the gameplay in its simplest form - without minigames and time limits. In terms of story, it's relatively more light-hearted, too - there's still murders and sadness, but most of the games' main casts have plot armor keeping them from being the victims (with one notable exception very early in the series). I probably got a bit too tl;dr there but I hope that's a satisfactory explanation!
