hey there! ive got this spooky sword boy, nikkari aoe from touken ranbu, and im open for question time!

Canonblind, so my question is: What makes the boy so spooky?

oh excellent question! back when nikkari was just a sword and not a sword boy, the blade gained a legendary reputation for slaying two ghosts (in the forms of a woman and child) that attacked its owner. after manifesting as a tsukumogami, nikkari seems to have taken said reputation to heart - his physical form has catlike pupils in heterochromatic eyes, he wears a white shroud over one shoulder, and hes generally just a bit odd and offputting despite being genuinely a good person.

oh also his heterochromia is actually a result of the ghostly woman contained inside his red right eye. that too. she is a major part of his legend, so i guess she also became part of him as a tsukumogami.

im also canonblind for overwatch but i have some peripheral knowledge, so... if hanzo had to have cool summony tattoos of an animal other than dragons or wolves, what would he want? and if you had cool summony tattoos, what would you choose?

But why swords

I've been wondering how Touken Ranbu started since I've mostly heard about it via RP osmosis. Also gimme a random cool fact about your spooky sword boy

A HISTORY LESSON THEN touken ranbu began as a browser game back in 2015! hosted on dmm.com, players take on the role of a sage who summons the spirits of swords to aid them in battle. its part resource management, part card collection, part team-build strategy with a sprinkling of very light gacha elements (but it is not a gacha game). since then the franchise has expanded into two anime series, several comic anthologies, a series of stageplays AND a separate series of musicals, crossed over with other media (cardfight!! vanguard, granblue fantasy etc) and most recently had a live action movie. its a big thing! i play nikkari primarily from the musicals, jsyk.

a cool fact... he would probably be a lot bigger and taller if his blade hadnt been shortened! once he was a ~85cm blade but now hes ~60cm. alas.
