QUESTIONS MEME

THE QUESTIONS MEME

A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!

Kiritsugu Emiya!

He’s one of my fave Masters from Fate/Zero.

What is your favourite aspect of his characterization?

> Favourite aspect of his characterization.

To answer your question, what fascinates me most about Kiritsugu is that he is a man of ideological extremes. To serve 'the greater good' is his mantra, and his motivations-- when stripped down to their bare bones, are downright altruistic. This is reinforced by his pursuit of the grail, a wish for humanity's salvation. 'The greater good' is why he was able to justify it in his mind that killing his father at such an early age would be the solution to save the most life, or shooting down the plane Natalia was trapped on. Hell, even being okay with letting Irisviel manifest as the grail, to the detriment of his own happiness.

Now, he might not be the most forthcoming about his goals. He does rely on shady methods to accomplish them (re: the Kayneth and Diarmuid fiasco,) but this is the logical conclusion he's come to. He would have likely killed all of the masters in the HGW, regardless of what kind of person they were, because the chance of saving the world outweighed their individual humanity.

So to sum it up, what I most enjoy about playing him is analyzing this myopic mindset of his and working out how he comes to the conclusions he does! That, and tbh, he's just an incredibly ridiculous individual. :U Have you ever thought about the implication he's the one who taught Irisviel to drive? Yeah, so have I.

I like that about him too. The intensity with which he pursues his goals and everything he is willing to do to achieve them is very emotionally compelling to me.

Temple is also a man of ideological extremes, at least when it comes to Project Freelancer and the UNSC. He can be chill about a lot of other things but I reckon it would be pretty difficult to convince Temple that his approach to Project Freelancer and the UNSC was wrong.

So far, though, nothing on Prismatica has really caused Temple to really display his tendency to go to ideological extremes.

You have two boats containing all the survivors of humanity and both of them spring a leak at the same time... wait, no.

Favorite Fate/ spinoff? Other than Zero if that is your fave.

You got me! F/Z absolutely would be my fave since it's the most compelling to me, thematically. But other than that? It would have to be a tossup between Fate/Extra and Today's Menu for the Emiya Family!

Fate/Extra because of the existential questions it poses wrt the player character and the NPCs. Fate/Cooking Anime for the general lighthearted and sentimental tone, but also seeing my faves be happy for once!! The Kiritsugu episode made me bawl. Wehhh.

God the cooking anime was so fucking good and it made me really hungry every month. I wish we had an Asian grocery store near my house so I could try some of those recipes... and yeah it was nice having a no stakes slice of life show.

I think my one quibble is that Nasu is a total jerk for making me sad Cursed Arm Hassan couldn’t join in tbh, I was fine not caring that he didn’t show up in the F/SN spinoffs like Hollow Ataraxia and then Camelot happened in FGO and now I aggressively care about Cursed Arm Hassan. Let him chill out in the cooking anime! Just say Sakura mugged Zouken for the command seals and Koujirou is fine for some reason!!

GOD, I FEEL YOU THERE. I was a big fan of Cursed Arm in Heaven's Feel, myself, because I have a penchant for problematic characters I guess, b u t. I could see him just being super chill in that setting. Type Moon, how could you deny me this?
bloodisthicker: oh wait it's not an edgeworth joke (give 'em the ol' razzle dazzle)

I never actually disliked Cursed Arm but he was just kind of “oh, you exist and you had a cool fight with Kotomine” until Nasu came for me personally in FGO. But yeah it was great to see him and Hundred Faces get fleshed out in FGO like that!
