QUESTIONS MEME

THE QUESTIONS MEME

A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!

Why are you a girl?
Why is your dad a girl???
Okay, that was a joke, but my real question is somewhat related; how do you feel about all of the genderswaps in Fate/?

Mordred:/punches.

Ahahaha.... I have a love/hate relationship with Fate/ in general because of how convoluted everything is on every level, but the gender swapping thing isn't among them. The designs are a bit too sexualized for my tastes, but I'm a huge fan of turning classic tropes on their head. One of the easiest ways to do that is through the stereotypical gender swap.

Arthur, and Mordred by extention, are both interesting in that they do their best to not be tied down by the shackles society ties with their gender and live toward an ideal. Mordred in particular seems to want to live beyond the gender ideals entirely, and it can best be stated that her 'gender' is 'the son of the king'. Being referred to either way as a mere man or woman is insulting to her. Then again... Mordred has issues.

How about you? I'm literally canonblind, but a glance at your permissions suggests that your character is on the ambiguous side of the gender spectrum. How do you feel about the gender norms of your canon and your muse's role within it all?

zaShunina's gender thing is pretty simple, actually. He's a 40-dimensional fractal alien/god who's existed since before the birth of the universe. His "species" have no concept of sex or gender to begin with, so even though the body he created for himself is masculine-presenting, it's actually built like a mannequin and is completely sexless, while zaShunina himself sees no distinction between the sexes. Gender is never a very important theme in his canon.

I'm only tangentially familiar with the Fate/ franchise by way of Fate/Zero and friends on Plurk who play GO, so you'll have to forgive my relative canonblind-ness here, but which installment in the franchise is your favorite?

That's actually really interesting! I'll need to find a way to look at that canon one of these days.

It's okay if you're confused-- I'm confused by it too. My favorite iteration is actually Fate/Zero, if I'm speaking honestly. The storyline was fairly dark, but I actually played the dweeb of a mage Waver Velvet as my main for a few good years. I honestly didn't think I'd pick up another Fate/ Muse until I sat down to watch Fate/Apocrypha.

Mordred was a standout character. I couldn't resist. Figures I'd get not one foul tempered Brit from this franchise, but two.

Is there anything you suggest newcomers keep in mind when approaching zaShunina's canon?

Waver is the best Fate/ character, it's true.

Some expectations going in would be that Kado is hybridly-animated between CG and traditional animation, but please don't let that dissuade you since it's pretty easy to get used to. It's extremely smart hard sci-fi and very grounded in reality (you know, minus the 40D god alien), and even though there isn't a whole lot of action, it's still very enthralling.

My only real warning is that the ending will make you suffer.

As for you, favorite Servant? (Other than Mordred)

I'm guessing you mean besides Grown Up Waver as a Servant as well, right? :D

Speaking as someone who isn't cheating on this, and as someone who is really behind on FGO, I rather like what they've done witht he Jekyll/Hyde character. I'm a fan of musicals and classic literature to a degree, and seeing the care and detail that they've taken with their spin on that classic character and trope just tickles me.

Otherwise, it's probably Astolfo. How can anyone dislike Astolfo?

And the ending will bring suffering, huh? How many boxes of tissues will be needed for a good binge watching session?

Probably just one box, but you may also want a stress ball too because boy howdy.

In more Prisma-related news, is there anything you'd especially love to be able to do in-game? Any major RP plans?
faeblooded: (fuck me i'm cute)

[personal profile] faeblooded 2019-03-28 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
No definite plans yet-- I'm playing it by ear. But between the Fates/ the GranBlues, and some of the OCs we have at least three different tellings of the Arthurian cycle, so I'm really intrigued by the possible shenanigans.

If love or romance or chance to overanalyze gender norms comes up, I'm certainly taking those too.

What about you? What do you have in mind?

I'm wanting to get zaShunina involved in R&D by way of opening anisotropy as an explorable avenue for tech development, but we'll have to see how far I'll be able to feasibly take that since it's probably going to require communicating with the mods.

And because I'm kind of blanking on questions now, Chocolate or Banana?

I raise thee both. Banana splits exist for a reason, and it's delicious.
