QUESTIONS MEME

THE QUESTIONS MEME

A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!

How do you feel about all the different interpretations of Arthurian Myth that have popped up here?

I am a mix of being genuinely excited and nervous! I try and familiarize myself with as many versions I can and at the same time, I still get anxious time to time having to present my own variation because, hey, I definitely do not want to bombard anyone.

And this Gwen can be on the mean side, sometimes.

What were Mordred's feelings on Gwen in her world? Obviously, she helped reveal Gwen's infidelity.

Fate/ gives us little to no information on the creators thoughts on Gwen, so I unfortunately have to extrapolate here. But, given how this Mordred looked up to Arthur as a perfect and ideal king, Gwen would be symbolic of Arthur's many imperfections. Mordred already harbors a great deal of anger toward Arthur for her rejection of Mordred as her son, however twisted Mordred's creation may have been-- and any resulting anger would end up being taken out on Arthur, not Gwen.

But, at this point your Gwen hasn't even married Arthur yet, correct? Mordred will certainly be civil with her-- and probably remain so once she starts putting the pieces together. This knight is strong, but kinda dumb.

It's okay if you're nervous-- approaching this myth cycle and doing it appropriately is pretty daunting. What got you hooked on these stories, anyway?

Yeah, Gwen isn't married to Arthur yet; she has met him and just before any real marriage happened, King Melwas abducted her; not sure if you're familiar with that piece or not but that's the earliest form of Maleagant. Gwen has no idea Mordred exists in her world. Yet! And admittedly, I have very limited knowledge of Fate/, I've only watched Zero and I play FGO.

THAT WILL BE FUN and she's going to be thoroughly confused. She'll be absolutely tsundere with knights. Blame Lancelot. Also, if like, any of you have questions, I'm always here.

And honestly? When I was in high school, I wanted to draw and create my own high fantasy/dark fantasy thing. I blame "First Knight" and the old Merlin mini-series to pike my interest in Arthuriana. I just never really liked how Guinevere was portrayed (ngl, I actually used to hate her) so I started reading up on it more, then read up on Celtic history, and it went off from there. Gwen's earliest prototype is from when I was 16.

Oh, hey! That's really cool!

I also started reading when I was in high school-- my English teacher saw me reading the class assignments too quickly, even in an honors course, and started giving me extra assignments. One of them was T.H. White's Once and Future King. From there I read... everything the school library had, to be quite honest.

It was all very fascinating to me.

I remember my older brother had a book by T.H. White and my mother was giving my brother and I some of his old books and I grabbed one of his because I had a very hard time trying to sleep as a kid. Pretty sure it was that book, too.

But now that I remember, Prince Valiant was something I watched/read. I just remember being frustrated and wanting a female character that was assertive as a kid, which made it hard for me to get into it. THEN THERE WAS THIS WHEN I WAS NINE.

Honestly, the deeper you go into it, it is really fascinating to know if these are legit Celtic deities and traditions. Not to mention, how Welsh mythology has similar stories to Irish mythology. And this is from a culture that strongly believed in oral tradition. Somehow, that stuff still exists, centuries later, after people tried to stomp it out. I can go off forever...

HOLY CRAP I WATCHED THAT TOO!~

For years I thought it was a fever dream-- but it wasn't! Wow!

...It seems I, too, can go on forever. The human capacity for storytelling and keeping myths alive no matter the cost is endlessly impressive and fascinating.

NAH, DUDE, I even have a Gwenevere figure and her unicorn still up in the family attack. I just remembered it... being a subconscious influence... maybe.

IKR? Particularly with the Druids and their Bards, I love it.
