Hello, everyone! It's that time of the month again! Not the bleed-y kind but the fun kind! Please insert form A below into tab B also below and await for CR to be dispensed.
I think we spoke briefly abt this but yes, geralt could potentially be a (untraditional??) mentor figure, though less someone to gently guide and more someone who will just give it to him straight. + potential future empathy over being orphans when/if it gets there? also due to his setting, he won't really view him as a kid (ppl...grow up fast in his world), if allen wants an older figure who will largely see & treat him as a young man more than a boy/teenager.
slams hands down!!! Yes I'm still all over this and would love to thread them! I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to tag your post, I got stretched thin on the event pretty quickly and didn't want to overextend just to flake out shdjffs. But yes, I think it would be really interesting, just from the number of similarities they have and then being total opposites in their mannerisms. And not sugar coating things is really good for Allen, because he tends to delude himself with his own sometimes. And he'd be a stubborn moralistic compass and beam of frayed, determined hope in return, lmajds.
And honestly, viewing him as a young man is more accurate anyway because of how his own world is and he'd be uncomfortable being seen as a kid/takes offense to it. Just given the level of horror he's seen and endured, and being trained as essentially a living weapon since he was 10 -- and even if he didn't really have a choice, he made it his choice. So he comes across a lot more mature and thoughtful beyond his years 90% of the time. yay for dark gritty world settings
no worries!! the threads in that post was reaching my limit as well and i don't want to overextend either, so i'm good w/ them meeting at the next event or smthng!
they can bond a bit over being made into living weapons at a young age since geralt would've been roughly the same age (prob a bit younger, like 6 or 7) when given to the witchers to be trained. i like them having come from similar backgrounds, but becoming pretty much opposite personalities in order to cope w/ it, i think that would be a fun thread to unravel over time. & in less doom & gloom matters, geralt can prob help him out a bit w/ his sword skills.
i will hit u up for sure some time in feb for plotting and whatnot! & obv feel free to give me a poke on plurk or discord any time.
aaghafds yes. I can't predict what will happen but that makes it all the more interesting!! and gosh yes, please help him with his sword skills. He's not bad, but... because of how his supernatural abilities work, he got the basics of how to use his sword directly programmed into his brain, but... he's never really had any advanced training or finesse about it, he swings it around like a slab. He grew up learning hand-to-hand instead. Which is unfortunate because he has a lot of potential for being stupidly nimble, being an overly strong acrobat.
sounds good!! And I added you on plurk. I'll be back in town in a couple weeks and will probably put an open log up/tag around for whatever events and goodies and plotting come up by then!
