Questions Meme

THE QUESTIONS MEME

HOW TO PLAY:
• Leave a comment below with your name and the characters who you play.
• Respond to others' comments with questions - they can be about their characters, their current in-game plans or things they'd like to play, their CR, RP in general, their canons and fandoms, or most anything else.
• Answer questions you've received! Keep it short or TL;DR to your heart's content, depending on how much you have or are in the mood to say!
• After each answer you give, ask a question back to the person who answered you. Keep the thread of questioning up for as long as both parties are game!
• Go for it - make friends, make new plans, make anything you like!

Correct, there are two VNs (the original and a sequel that has extended good and bad ends for every route from the original) and an anime. The anime is honestly what I started with, because the VNs are very large in size and take a while to download/torrent, and it's 12 24min eps vs uhh.... 10-25 hours of VN playtime depending on how much read text you choose to skip. The anime is good for getting a condensed version of the common route and a shortened, butchered idea of EVERY route consolidated into a single continuity. If you find yourself liking the characters and concepts enough despite some of the plot choices in the anime's second half, that's when I'd say yes go check out the main VN and play it out to your heart's content. It is very hardcore dark porny with themes of brainwashing, mind control and id/ego/superego fragmentation and has some pretty psychologically awful but conceptually interesting bad ends that are not for the faint of heart. I can send you YouTube links from various parts or AMVs (or even comedic shitvideos) if you want something to start with before trying the official canon. Just let me know.

Whatever you do, though, avoid the manga.

How did you first hear about Angels of Death?

I... think I would say it's slightly because of Mini (the Grimm/Atsuhi player)--a while back in a different game they played a character from a series called "Forest of Drizzling Rain", an japanese rpg maker game that was made by the same people who made Angels of Death. When I was looking it up out of curiosity about my friend's canon I saw this other game briefly and was like "huh, that looks interesting", and then promptly forgot about both it and FoDR for a while.

Cut to months later, Playism announces they got the rights to translate and sell Angels of Death on Steam (but not FoDR sadly), so I was like "oh hey I remember seeing that game for a brief second, maybe I'll try it out", and... well I guess the rest is history as it turns out this game became even more popular than their first game and spiraled into having multiple mangas and even an anime adaption that aired two years ago, all of which I enjoy and recommend of this series. Especially the mangas personally, as the creators even started writing a prequel that expands on Danny.

....... Dare I ask why I should avoid the Dramatical Murder manga though because I am now morbidly curious.

Oh neat, so Angels of Death is on Steam. I will need to nab that for certain.

The manga is one of those terrible, very loose adaptations that holds only a passing resemblance to the original storyline, changes a bunch of things for no reason, and the artwork is terrible and offputting. It also isn't very long and I think probably got canceled after a few volumes. Too add to that, not much is actually translated. Overall, it's a waste of one's time and effort. You'd get more out of the official PVs from Nitro+Chiral than the manga.

What other VNs are you familiar with and which do you like?

Please do, it's a lot of fun! I will warn however that there's some content warnings, particularly suicide being mentioned a lot in the game in case that's not your cup of tea.

I actually really love the Higurashi/Umineko visual novels, and the Dangan Ronpa series? Which is probably not a surprise to hear given the kind of character I play, but I'm also fond of some of Key's works (Planetarian being probably my favorite) and of the Science Adventure novel series (Steins;Gate being my favorite of those)... I love VNS a lot and there's a good chance I've either played or at least heard of a particular VN when it's mentioned.

Same question, other than Dramatical Murder, what are some other VNs that you like?

I've already seen the entire anime including the ONA ending, so I'm pretty sure I'll be fine.

Other VNs I like include the Higurashi series (but I've only played through the first one. the rest of the story I only know from the anime), No Thank You!!!, Hustle Cat, Steins;Gate (only halfway through the VN, but the anime is a veritable masterpiece), Analogue: A Hate Story, Boyfriend to Death: Fresh Blood, Ozmafia!!, the Fault series, Tsukihime, Hustle Cat, One Thousand Lies, Sound of Drop: Fall Into Poison, and anything released on Steam by ebi-hime. If you're into Higurashi you'd like her work titled The Way We All Go. It's kind of like an homage to Higurashi where you need to befriend/romance one of two childhood friends upon returning to the village you grew up in without ruining your relationship with the other childhood friend. Not nearly as psychotic as Higurashi but it's got many death bad ends and deranged moments. I'd also nudge Sound of Drop: Fall Into Poison your way if you don't already know it bc it uh... involves a haunted/possessed aquarium, temporal distortion, and is full of very creative horror and bad ends. Seems very up your alley.

What is your dream CR for Danny? Any setting, not necessarily Prismatica.

Well, not going to lie, playing off Gray was like my biggest dream for the last two years or so which I'm finally getting to do thanks to Dal apping them to this game. So now my next dream CR is for someone to play Cathy or Eddie as those are the two remaining major characters I have yet to really do much with... or god forbid if someone ever plays Henry from the Episode 0 prequel but that's probably a pipe dream...

So what is your dream CR for Noiz, then?
zunge: (I want to walk in the open wind)

[personal profile] zunge 2020-03-25 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Dream CR for Noiz would be having Theo as a castmate in a game. Any game. I've only ever played off of Noiz's little brother a couple times years ago with friends who brought him out for memes. Theo only makes an appearance in the Noiz drama CD (which takes place after Noiz's extended good end in Re:Connect), and is briefly mentioned in the main VN's good end for Noiz. No one plays him anywhere.

Are there any types of CR dynamics you especially enjoy?
