I definitely prefer 4-5-6 engine overall, but I think the time taking caps on 60 FPS really gave me an appreciation for the micro-expressions and the effort and energy put into the amalgam faces vs full scans of real people? Idk they're gorg games. I admittedly also thought the Chronicles games looked great and wouldn't mind that style, but they def had... other... problems...

It's super rare and goes for like $50-200 an issue these days, if you ever even see them. They were published in Hong Kong and I believe re-released in Japan. It's the same art/wrtier who did the CVX ones that were released in English! I know there was also an RE2 and RE0 one by the same author but I only have one issue of the 2 one and 0 the last I saw was so rare it went way out of my budget at the time. TL;DR hella rare but kinda dumb? I know the first issue of the HK RE3 one was at least scanlated at some point? I get that. Every engine has its pluses and minuses. I did find doing icons from a downloaded youtube capture to be a bit more finicky than I'm used to? Jamie taught me how to use gamma settings to try and get better lighting on them and even then I still struggled to make them really visible without going too far either direction so that's. def a minus on that engine, lol. When you've got that dark of a game going on maybe illuminate your models a liiiiiittle bit? Please? For the RPers? XD I have been grabbing fanart and some other screenshots that people have made look better though so hopefully not all my icons will be dark blobs.

I generally get caps direct from the games so I can't comment, but RE is notoriously bad with filters (even invisible ones you can't see easily) or using shadows so a lot of it is complimented with mods. RE6 and the Rev games were hell to icon let me tell u

I wish I could RP from something consistent, iconing is so easy comparatively lmao :( But I'm sure you've seen RE5. I actually find the default RE5 filters easiest to color correct but if it tells you anything I've been meaning to get a premium paid for over a year but I said I'd do it after I have enough icons... it's just not... fun to icon...

I like manga iconing when I have the focus for it? But I do a lot of photoshop art anyway so it's more my game than just crop color correct save repeat so I absolutely understand that kind of iconing to not be fun.

That is the one thing I'm hoping for, that the eventual continuation of the series (rumors about 8 being the next thing they'll work on after 4 remake that is) will bring back some old favorites who only got one game. I mean mocap choices aside they're at least already prepared with new updated models so as long as they don't rush it like they did the 3 remake it's something to hope for. Tentatively. With fingers crossed. Either way I figured the remakes were sort of standing on their own with the differences for the time being.

Oh, 8's already happening and I know a few people who demo'd. To my knowledge they have multiple different demos to product test but when it's a closed setting I don't think they'll get real feedback. Chris is physically different in each one and this I can't confirm but I've heard it from someone who knew someone etc. and it's that there are versions even with Chris bald? So who tf knows. I'm not sure how I feel and I'm kinda on an RE downer (gestures wildly to my multi-thousand dollar collection of Capcom-made bullshit, stares into camera embarrassed as ever) but I'm always hopeful. I think the big issue is the western producer who keeps doing this shit, including against the original team's wishes. Remakes in Japan are very different than in America/the west and a lot of people esp on the original team were really against 2/3 remakes so it's just... disrespectful? Idk. I'm still like dead eyed and missing my thicc characters and wrasslin, especially since Capcom has made titantrons and costumes for Japanese wrestlers and it's very ingrained in the series.

It's very like, in between old manga art and old western comic art, right? But then some of it is unmistakably gorgeous it's such a ??? style. The covers esp tend to be attractive to me since it's colored in a more pastel/soft colored pencil or paint way vs the interiors which might've been touched up? Idk. The series is an anomaly and myself and the housemates only really know Japanese so the language is a bit out there, though I know some of the dialogue is weird as heck.

Yeah I have a few old GW doujins with similar soft coloring. The art wasn't always the best but they still made it look pretty.

Yeah, unfortunately it was confirmed by Capcom. I know they have former Plat people in the company that's doing it and so at least it'll hopefully be dumb but hhghghrhg. I think they should've been more focused on the storytelling than money. Mostly, the remake issues I have are fueled by the fact RE.net had a fully international scoped retrospective commentary + questionaire before 7 came out and they ignored everything on it (it was published as an Anniversary Mook book in Japan) that included all the data and ideas in it and particularly inspired stories not just from celebrities of why the series as-is was important to them. They ignored literally everything in it and instead are listening to the loud people on social media, which bothers me a lot. Capcom behind the scenes is a huge shitshow, esp if yon know anyone who worked for them (I knew someone specifically from Blue Castle, which was axed after DR4) and they're just... hgghghgh. Capcom is something Special.

Yeah, definitely. Much like Konami they've done some great Pachislot games (with gorgeous new animation in them and stories). As a collector I own a lot of merch for it and it's p wild how much energy, effort, and money they put into the quality of it whether it's chair cushions or phone cases. Sad, too, ofc :(

OH GOOD. lol. My laptop is newer than the desktop but it's also physically falling apart and likes to hit me with scan lines and flickering whenever I try to play anything intense. I used it for Guild Wars 2 for aaaaaages but even that's started to not work. The desktop still runs it beautifully though so I'm gonna guess it's good for RE then.

That's always a delight. I'm running NVIDIA GEForce GTX 860M if it helps but I know graphics cards are designed to be as difficult to navigate and understand as possible. But you should be fine, especially since RE6 still runs on the 2013 engine and doesn't have any anti-theft software like the remakes do to prevent usage on multiple computers.

I've been into RE since I RE1 PSX came out so I've thankfully never dealt with that, but I do have a brother that stole all my games up until maybe five? years ago and would leave the cases behind and it's Suffering.

(Tbh I've always done the pay-it-forward and a lot of RE people I meet on Steam tend to give 5/6 for free to people!)
