Midorima finds some relief when Takao doesn't pursue it after he doesn't argue. He's not one for talking about his emotions, and he doesn't think that there's anything that could come of it if he does. Takao will find some way to just keep him from cutting himself off from everyone-- just be appearing here, he's already done that. By letting Midorima focus on something else, he's letting him not fall into that for a little longer.

"You're lucky you missed dragon mating season last month."

Said as if the mere existence of dragons is normal. It isn't, but Midorima's been here long enough that that seems like the least strange part of what he said. He seems to realize that again afterward, and decides to focus in on the fact that there are a lot more than dragons roaming this planet.

"I'll give you Weiss Schnee's contact information if you promise not to bother her too much. She's a moon knight here and a huntress in her world. If you're in danger, call her."

Midorima isn't one to normally show he cares, but this world isn't exactly like home. Takao getting eaten is a little more suffering than he cares to inflict on him. And yes he did intentionally give her whole name because after months of refusing, he had agreed to call exactly two people by their first names. But he still wants Takao to call her Schnee.
