Just as intended, soon enough the emotions that threatened to well up and overwhelm Midorima fade away. There is only basketball, only Takao- the partner he can trust implicitly. And so that's what they focus on- throwing and catching passes, Midorima making shot after shot, sometimes to the basket near them, sometimes across to the full court despite that it's completely unnecessary and simply means that Takao is going to have to run the full length of the court to catch it. It's fine-- Midorima's had a year's worth of practice on him, Takao can use the work out.

One thing that Takao may notice however, despite Midorima's increased speed, is that he slows down around the amount of time a normal practice would end. Not their extended practice length, but that's part of the problem during Cordis moon. A quick cuddle with Takao was not enough chroma or food. Despite this, he persists for some time after when he should stop, but Takao may notice that his gaze keeps falling on him just a little heavier than normal.

It's sooner than normal into the practice that he eventually stops just before making another jump shot and says:

"I need to eat."

He wasn't going to ask to moonlace with Takao, even if in the back of his mind the Cordis-blessed part of him is craving it the longer he spends energy without having enough chroma first. He can make up for it by eating, at least temporarily. That'll have to do.
