[Mercifully, Ayer finally peels away from close he'd stuck to him, though at the same time the distance Louis wanted feels gritty and awkward compared to before—he's hardly surprised, though... He was the one to interrupt the flow, and no matter how tempting it had been to let it take him, his logic was sound in telling him that this would be better for them both. Even as Ayer apologizes, Louis wants to apologize himself, but doing so would only open again this box he's trying to shut.

Tomorrow... It sounds like a promise of keeping his hands to himself, which is understandable after the way Louis gently stopped him now. Yet, it saddens him to see Ayer so contained again, after all the colorful emotion he had the privilege of witnessing today; still, he reaps what he sows. This is the choice he made, and it hasn't broken them. It's just a bump in the road, and Louis wants to trust they'll smooth over it again.

But telling Louis to watch himself—it sounds like concern, or a warning (and something in the back of his mind even acknowledges how it could also sound like a threat). Despite all that, Louis finds himself faintly smiling, convinced further that Ayer truly is looking out for him, even if in his own—at times clumsy—ways. It strengthens his resolve, knowing that Ayer is accepting of his decision, and he can feel a little more like himself again.

As he gathers up his things (all of which he didn't have before setting foot into this apartment), Louis remembers something he'd wanted to ask about. He turns to Ayer again, pulling out the comm device he'd received earlier that day.]

Before I go, can I get your number? Just in case.
