Seriously it is crazy how easy Midorima beats him at RPS; one would almost think Takao intentionally loses some of the time. Since he is good at most everything he does besides that one single game. Never, not once will he tell Midorima how little he minds any part of their routine. Including the rear cart. This guy was not easy to get close to, Takao put a lot of work into the friendship to even make it happen in the first place. He is good with how things are.
Midorima's silence and feigning ignorance to his crying is precisely what Takao needed. It's all so backward, all day Midorima has taken care of him while Takao has fumbled his way along. This isn't how they work; he's the caretaker. Takao is proud of him; it would not have surprised him to find Midorima slipped back into some of those old patterns; it's like maintaining a garden if a person wants to get close enough to know the cactus isn't as prickly as he seems. Stupid cactus anyway, Takao takes a few steadying breaths. Takao needs people, and yet this place makes it scary to get close to strangers with all the moons and their effects. He is not sure he'd be on his feet and not hiding if not for some dumb cactus, which is currently bossing him around.
Really, get it together, do what you do best... He's the glue, but for the moment the shooter has done more than he may realize to hold the point guard together.
"Geez, do I have to clear my dates with you first, too? Maybe we should have an application process." He snarks, his usual amused tone of voice coming back, quickly wiping his eyes once he knows Midorima is not looking. Then again, he wouldn't be keen on a roommate or dating someone who Midorima didn't like or who didn't like him. After all, Midorima is his partner on the court and his friend. If he had to choose, basketball always wins, and he doesn't want to play without his friend. Not that Takao ever takes any time to date anyway, that will be a new development for him if or when he bothers.
