Midorima doesn't really want to talk about it. It comes back to that freshest wound, the emotional one. The one he's been trying not to think about this whole time and simply focusing on Takao, but his life here is too interwoven with Eichi's stupid blonde head butting in. He needed him. Midorima hadn't been anywhere near the stupid plant until Eichi called him for help.

"I had to save a dying man." He lets out a puff with his lips, but doesn't explain more than that. Takao can think what he wants of it. Eventually, he'll let Takao in more on his relationship with Eichi, what it's like to have feelings for someone you knew was going to die sooner than later, and to still risk your life for that person anyway.

It's a bit too much to lay on Takao right now, even if he really wishes he had someone he could just.. rely on, right now. But he can't ask Kise or Weiss to deal with emotions he feels about someone else, and he can't ask Takao because Takao has too much shit.

It's probably better to shut it down.
