From what Midorima knows, there are plenty worse than this. Some where they could be forced to have sex or they would die, some entrenched in wars and monsters, others stuck in the time of the steam engine... The horror stories he's heard have made him grateful for the tail coming out of his backside. It won't stop him from periodic complaints (what will, after all?) but it's certainly enough to make him recognize that a place with running water and electricity and basketball and most choices still in your own hands is a pretty good deal.
Takao just arrived though, he doesn't need to have 'you're lucky to be here' jammed down his throat. Midorima came to the conclusion naturally, and he's said his piece on it for now. Takao will come to realize that this place is fine, just as he did; he's sure of it, and so he drops the topic for now.
They're about to enter the store anyway, and Midorima takes a decided right when they do- the stuff he wants to avoid is against the wall on display, so even going that way, Takao will be able to see some of the special items. Lingerie, now with hard-light technology to get a little "deeper" with your relationship! The infamous Maiden Sweater with anti-badtouch technology is of course there. There seems to be a special on chromawear, too. (Which incidentally, is suggested to be worn with something underneath it anyway-- something Midorima failed to mention because he knows some idiot is just skipping it and there may be naked people anywhere and he doesn't want to deal with that.) Midorima heads right for the normal clothes.
"My thoughts as well. Even in the event we are able to recall this, we won't make any progress in our education back home and will either have to repeat the same materials or potentially confuse materials learned here with what's learned back home, even if our worlds work differently."
In other words, Midorima wants to keep his facts straight. The last thing he needs is to go back to Japan and fail a test because he accidentally writes some kind of science understanding that doesn't exist yet in their time.
