▶ TDM .019

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

The next destination: Prismatica.

Welcome to the Jungle
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A  Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

What’s Behind Door #1?
09/08 | Crystal Beach, Lunatia | Submitted by: [personal profile] machizumo | top

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara ([personal profile] machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

B  The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

C  All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

D  These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

[ OK, his voice is familiar and once she can concentrate on it, she can see him - a friend! And the first time she met him, she laughed because he had the same first name as her dad.]

Oh my god, Kazuma. This is a trip and a half. Also, I am just meeting you and have met you and that wild to me. You didn't happen to see an "exit" rift, did you?
lowleveled: (I'd rather play a game)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-08 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He's thinking on this, and--]

Kokoro? ...Kokoro. Okay, I'm just meeting you--I just met you? I've known you for years? ...I. Uh. [He winces.] Not really, but this whole thing is causing me a hell of a headache, so we might as well search?
shutter_hime: ([Gentle])

[personal profile] shutter_hime 2020-09-08 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods slowly. Kokoro towers over him as she starts walking, making sure not to use her normal stride that would've had him eating her dust.]

You think this is gonna stick? The memories being a thing, I mean. It feels like I'm cheating at friendship by knowing people I don't know yet.
lowleveled: (Call me a phantom)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-08 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[The fact that he's not getting nyoom'd ahead of is appreciated.]

I...dunno. I know what you mean, though. It feels unfair to sorta know someone and then...not at all.

I mean, I'd like to be friends? But also you know a lot that is probably not first meeting stuff, I'm pretty sure.

The thing that's really bugging me is, uh...

[He's putting his other hand to his forehead, and that's when he sees it. A wedding ring.]

...Well. Don't know what that's from.

[He states, seemingly lightheartedly, but there's a recognizable undercurrent of anxiety.]

[She looks down at him, and his ring.] ...Congratulations?

Or... maybe not congratulations?

[Her head is aching with all this new stuff crammed into it. Still, she surreptitiously checks her hands: disappointingly clear of wedding rings. She's Christmas cake in 10 years. Ugh, that's super-super depressing. Or at least, she can't shard those memories together to tell her why she isn't wearing a ring. Before she can get too deep into her feels about her lovelife, Kokoro digs into Kazuma's instead.]

Do you know who you married? Maybe they're a really nice person.
lowleveled: (All alone sing bye bye)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-08 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks? ...I think.

[He thinks it over - he can imagine a laugh, a smile, he knows whoever it is, they're the most genuine person he's ever met, exactly on his level, sort of a bond where they know each others thoughts without really asking..]

...I don't know, no. That's why I'm leery. But my memories, uh. They're all good. I think they're nice. I don't even know if they're real...
shutter_hime: (how can the fish swimming)

[personal profile] shutter_hime 2020-09-09 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, a mystery spouse. It really only matters that you like them, doesn't it? I mean, you married them. So at some point you were like, "Yes, I'm going to take this giant step."

[She crosses her arms as they walk. There's still no sign of a way 'out' and she slides a glance his way every so often to make sure he's not falling behind.

The whole lovelife thing seems to be a bit of a sore pick, so she moves on to other grains of memories she can make out as they slot in ever so slowly.]

It's stupid, but I definitely have a memory of crushing a watermelon with my thighs for a bet? That's a new... um. Application for my legs, I guess. Do you think that even counts a sport? It feels American. It definitely feels American.

lowleveled: (As a result I can see the unseen)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-09 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. That's what matters most. But I think I do. I know I do. He's got the cutest smile in the world--

[That makes him freeze in his tracks for a moment before he speeds up to catch up again. He?! So it's a...guy?! Okay. Well. They've at least moved on from that so his saucer-plate eyes can go back to normal...and then he laughs.]

It kinda sounds like that summer game. You know, the one where you put on a blindfold and smash a watermelon with a stick. So. Probably not a sport, persay. But, uh. I'm gonna be real. Don't tell that to the wrong guy, or his response'll probably be 'nice, can you do that with my head?' ...Or girl, really. Darkness would be frothing at the mouth if she were here...
shutter_hime: (happy feeling good)

[personal profile] shutter_hime 2020-09-10 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Right, but... People... are very strange.

[ She shrugs and then slaps her thigh. Still buff! Important. After several more minutes of walking, she points to a bench. ]

We should probably think of a better idea than "wander around aimlessly." Because that's not working as planned.
lowleveled: (Hey find me find me)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-10 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thaaaat's an understatement. People are beyond strange.

[He looks at the bench, and shrugs softly, shaking his head.]

Yyyyeeeah, you're kinda right. It's not. At all. [He takes a seat on the bench, rubbing his forehead.] It's weird. I think I'm, like, a knight here, too? Or something. That's what my memories are saying.

So I guess...all my adventuring paid off, in terms of skills.
shutter_hime: ([Gentle])

[personal profile] shutter_hime 2020-09-13 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations~

[ Kokoro tries to think about her own memories. But they seem to flit in and out of her grasp. At least photography still seemed to be an option. The futuristic nature of the planet didn't really beat how nice it was to have something physical in one's hand. ]

I think I'm doing something with photography, but it's hard to pin down. Well, that's good, though. That's really all I've wanted to do.
lowleveled: (in the middle’s draw)

[personal profile] lowleveled 2020-09-15 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[He hums.] Maybe you're a professional photographer for some kinda business. Or a modeling company. Or one of those nature organizations. That'd be neat.

But as long as it's what you wanted to do, right? If you're happy doing it and you're making money, it's like winning all around. That's how I see it, at least. I've never really gotten like, the exacts on picture-taking, but I know terminology! So I can sound smart while knowing nothing at all!

[Why is he proud of that...]
