▶ TDM .019

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

The next destination: Prismatica.

Welcome to the Jungle
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A  Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

What’s Behind Door #1?
09/08 | Crystal Beach, Lunatia | Submitted by: [personal profile] machizumo | top

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara ([personal profile] machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

B  The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

C  All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

D  These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

a. apartment

[ To be honest, Ayase doesn't understand anything that's happening. This isn't Tokyo or even Japan or even Earth? He doesn't think. While he did try to ask some questions, it was a bit hard for him to be too insistent. Finally, he accepts the situation as much as he can accept the situation, and looks for his apartment.

He must have the wrong room. It's much too nice to be something that's given to him for free. Ayase checks his information and looks back at the door. The information matches, but...

What should he do? As the internal struggle begins, Ayase hears someone else coming down the hall. He doesn't want to be a bother, but he also doesn't want to walk into someone's apartment.

It took a few seconds, but finally: ]

Ummm...Excuse me?

b. shopping

[ The markets really are nice here. Ayase has made saving money, or chroma, a skill, so he's being careful with the produce, taking the time to look for any deals, or rejecting some things that might look delicious but is out of his price range. It isn't very hard to miss the way he dejectedly looks at a certain fruit before returning it to its spot once he sees the price. It's fine. If he can find some seeds, maybe he can grow something...

During his trip, he sees someone who seems to be doing the same. Ayase can't know if they're only being picky or lack chroma, but after a moment, he places something back and approaches. Normally, he's not very good at approaching people, but it's easier if they seem to need help.

Ah. A bag of apples, is it? While he hasn't purchased an entire bag himself, Ayase has already bought a few. Reaching into his bag, he offers the fruit to the stranger. ]

I'm sorry that it isn't more, but if you'd like one, I have an extra.

c. network post

a

a

[ Next comes an image of a hand covering the lenses. Why are these things so difficult?

Panicking, Ayase tries to erase what he's sent, but it's not working. It isn't that his world is so far behind technology so much as he's so far behind the technology.

Flushing, there's only one decision to be made: push forward. ]

I'm very sorry. I can't delete it.

[ Someone help him. ]

I was told that this is how everyone speaks here.

[ Which Ayase hoped would make it easier than doing it in person. It would be a small step at a time, but now it's going south. ]

So I wanted to ask about your hobbies, but I've sent a picture by mistake.

(ooc | Wild card options are also available. Feel free to jump in. He won't be in the fighting since it's like attacking someone with a marshmallow. )

[Gokudera's sitting in front of his device, smirking at the way this person is so obviously messing up their attempt at a simple text post. He's got something resembling a cigarette dangling from his lips.]

There is a symbol on the keyboard with an arrow pointing to the left, that should delete anything you just typed. Given you've already posted this, I don't think you'll be able to edit it. If you see a symbol and you're not sure what it means, you can press on it, and hold your finger there. It will open options. The same could be said for the type of post you want to send out.

[Gokudera's tapping at his own device, mounted on his wrist.]

Also, you should be able to change the settings so that it is easier, or simply find someone in person who can walk you through the basics. [He is not going to teach the newbie to use his device while currently talking to him on it. That's just a waste of his time. God, but it is funny to watch someone fumble about.

Maybe... he can pull a harmless prank.]

If you want to make sure you have your keyboard enabled to fix your spelling in the future, like an auto-correct, hold down the 'up' arrow. [Why yes, he is telling this person to put Caps Lock on. Why? Cause it'll be funny.]

[ Some of the embarrassment leaves as Ayase grows more excited. What he lacks in confidence, he makes up for in eagerness and a willingness to learn. Reading the instructions out loud, there's an obvious pause while he grabs a pen and paper and writes down the instructions. He'll practice it later.

Settings. He needs to study the settings.

Oh. Fix his spelling? That seems like a really good idea, too. It would be hard to get his point across if his spelling is bad, and the entire goal is to help his communication skills. ]

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

[ Oh no. Is it broken? Why are the letters all capitalized? ]

I'M VERY SORRY.

[ Did he break it? Is there a penalty for breaking it. ]

I THINK IT MAY BE BROKEN.

Oh!

[It worked! Gokudera smiles and then switches his video off and changes to text. While he's at it, he may go ahead and lock this conversation so no one gets their panties in a bunch over this. So! Going anonymous!]

THIS IS HOW EVERYONE TALKS ON THE NETWORK. IT'S EASIER TO READ AND ADDS CONVICTION TO YOUR WORDS.

[ Language is something that actually is a bit important to Ayase, but Japan doesn't have capital letters in the same way other languages do. It feels wrong, but surely this person, who has been helpful already, knows more about the network. ]

THEN IT'S NOT BROKEN AFTER ALL?

[ He's proud of himself. He's very much behind on the tech world. ]

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

[ His typing is very slow. He's not very fast under most conditions, but holding the phone version of 'shift' doesn't help. ]

I THINK IT'S VERY NICE OF EVERYONE TO USE BIGGER LETTERS. THE SCREEN IS VERY SMALL SO I'M SURE SOME PEOPLE DO FIND IT DIFFICULT TO READ.
bakudan_bambino: (hurr hurr)

[personal profile] bakudan_bambino 2020-09-09 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yes! Now go and yell at everyone else through your caps lock, Ayase! Do it!]

FAR FROM IT.

YOU'RE WELCOME. IT'S NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

[If the speed is any indication, Gokudera will pick up on that and offer:]

YOU CAN DOUBLE TAP THE SHIFT KEY SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO HOLD IT DOWN. THAT SHOULD SAVE YOU SOME TIME.

YES, IT'S VERY CONSIDERATE.

[ He will do his best to yell at everybody while thinking he's still polite! That'll show them!

There's another extended pause. ]

WHAT DOES A SHIFT LOOK LIKE?

[ He really does feel terrible for asking, but he can't find it. ]

THEY REALLY DO REMAIN LARGE.

[ Technology is so impressive. ]

YOU'VE BEEN VERY HELPFUL. I KNOW THIS IS SOMETHING A LOT OF PEOPLE MY AGE HAVE ALREADY LEARNED, BUT I'M NOT VERY GOOD WITH CELLPHONES. YOU SEEM TO KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT THEM.
bakudan_bambino: (OMG GOOD MORNING)

[personal profile] bakudan_bambino 2020-09-09 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)

THANK YOU!

[ His text hero would never laugh at him. He's a good, kind boy who is helping strangers. Obviously.

In Ayase's eyes. ]

IF I USE IT ENOUGH, I HOPE I CAN BECOME BETTER MYSELF SO THAT OTHERS WON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME TO TEACH ME. NOW THAT I KNOW THE CORRECT WAY OF TYPING, THAT WILL BE EASIER.

IT'S VERY NICE TO MEET YOU. I'M AYASE YUKIYA.
bakudan_bambino: (coughyousuckcough)

[personal profile] bakudan_bambino 2020-09-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[No he's a bully.

Gokudera does that thing where he reads the text, then types a single letter, then closes the window so that it will look like he's typing a long response. He doesn't want Ayase to know who he is

So he's just going to leave him like that until he can think up a fake identity. Or not.]
shakkin: commissioned; please dns (alone)

[personal profile] shakkin 2020-09-09 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Not recognizing such an advanced technique, Ayase waits. Perhaps longer than he should since he's still much more accustomed to face-to-face conversations, which are immediate. As a slow typer himself, patience comes more easily.

The next message doesn't arrive for the next 30 minutes. The entire time isn't spent waiting by the phone, but it is spent checking it constantly. If there's no reply in that time, he eventually has to reply. ]

I'M SORRY FOR GOING SO SUDDENLY, BUT I HAVE A FEW THINGS I SHOULD DO. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP.

[ They just got busy, Ayase is sure. ]
