You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

The next destination: Prismatica.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

▶ What’s Behind Door #1?

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara (

machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

B The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

▶ Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

C All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

▶ Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

D These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

[he shrugs, still smirking]

Okay, then, champion. Show me those skills you can't stop bragging about!

Gladly! [He huffs.] Simple demonstration...I'm going to take whatever is most precious to you through my natural magic!

[He steps forward, swerves around, and extends his hand.]

STEAL!

[A blue light emits from his hand, almost blinding for a moment. When the light fades...he is standing there, his hands closed into fists.]

Fufufu~ lessie what'chu got! [He opens one palm, and... bam.]

...Ooh. Pretty. Nice ring ya got there.

[the smile is wiped off of Osomatsu's face. he stares, his right hand subconsciously gripping the fingers on his left hand. it's gone! wait, what's gone? why is he so upset over a piece of jewelry?

...why was he even wearing a fancy ring in the first place? where did he... oh.

oh]

My wedding ring!

[since when does he have a wedding ring.........]

[He cackles a little.]

That's why you don't disbelieve Satou Kazuma, Billionaire Adventurer and Expert Thief!

Don't worry~ I'll give it back...

[He's smirking...and then his smirk drops. Entirely. Because he saw his other hand.]

......Oh.

[That is all he can choke out. Because he has an identical one.]

Well....then.

[He slowly raises his hand up.]

[as Kazuma's hand comes up, Osomatsu's eyes become saucers. more memories flash through his mind. he starts to become even more confused.

but also... there's a warmth in his gut that he cannot express. his cheeks burn]

...Good taste you've got there.

[it's not just good taste. they have identical rings for another reason entirely!]

[Memories are hitting him in a flash too, and he swallows softly, his own cheeks heating up.]

Uh. Thanks. You...too....

[So. Three things are hitting him in a flash.

1. Apparently he's into guys. This makes every time he'd loudly declared in his life that he wasn't gay...really ironic in retrospect.

2. Apparently he is into this guy. Who he just met. Kind of. But that explains why he was so casually happy around him...

3. Apparently he is into this guy so much that he married him. So the mental picture he had when he was 16 of marrying an older woman who is rich, naive, and wealthy...could not have been more off. The mental picture he had later of maybe trying things out with Megumin? Also off. Not Darkness, either.

He looks at him, speechless for a few seconds.]

...So. This is a little complicated...

[Osomatsu, in the meantime, is not overly surprised by this decision, but he is curious. he wonders what about this guy wins him over. but, apparently, he has memories for that, too. dinner dates, casually palling around, even steamier expressions.

something happened! those memories keep pulsing, reminding Osomatsu of good times. he brings the back of his hand up to his lips, mumbling a bit]

Good taste in more than the ring, I guess.

[And now the memories are all hitting him. They've been on dates, they've just enjoyed each others company, and...oh. Um. A few he doesn't want to dwell too much on public, because if he did, that'd cause a reaction.

Well. His voice is shaky, but he collects whatever confidence he has, smiling a bit.]

Yeah, you'd think so, huh? ...Heh.

From what I can tell, I can't disagree. You've got some pretty great taste yourself. Guys like me don't appear every day...

Yeah, yeah! I'm a real catch!

[he said it, but his current self doesn't believe it. if he was such a catch, why did he find exactly one person who wanted to sleep with him? after being in sexland for over a year. and they both had to be crazy on hormones. and then have little to no contact after the fact.

[Well, now he's swapping into flirting mode.]

[hey, this is nice. even if it's sudden. it still feels familiar, thanks to the memories. as they start walking, he leans in towards Kazuma]

Princesses are overrated, anyway... Not that I've ever really met any.

[Well. These attempts at flirting are being responded to very positively, which makes sense, considering they're married even if they've just met, but...it feels right. It feels familiar. It feels like it's how things should be. Which is so odd, but not a bad odd. Not at all.

He'd contemplate the deeper implications of this later. Probably.]

Oh, definitely an overrated experience. Most of adventuring is, really. Apart from the praise. And the money. But I'm a good guy, so knight-stuff, adventurer-stuff, that's just built into me...

Not that any of that's important right now. Because...as much as praise from random citizens is nice, and so is the money...

[He nonchalantly slips his partner's wedding ring back onto his finger.]

I've got my priorities in line, y'know~?

[Wink. Normally, he might worry about sounding lame, but somehow...he's not being worried. He's being completely genuine.]

[Osomatsu wonders about this timey-wimey stuff happening, if it's making him crazy. but if they are happily married in the future, that's just the boost he needs to make himself happier in the present. he's going to believe in it, and not run away.

his grin becomes softer as the ring is slipped back onto his finger. he feels sentimental now! he's in a good enough mood to lean in closer and nose at the other man's cheek affectionately]

Good to know! I'm not gonna say no to praise, and money, but it's nice to hear that there are other important things in your life.

[gross. Osomatsu's being sweet, domestic]

[Well. We've gone from 'I think I know you' to 'oh, shit, we're married' to '...well, if we're married, we're going to be happily married'. Kazuma, for his part, has never been unfamiliar with just finding a good thing and rolling with it to the best of his ability, and that's what he's doing right now. The time stuff...is confusing. Beyond confusing, on top of the other facts he mentally went over earlier, but...

He feels that nosing at his cheek, and he melts. He's not a strong enough guy to resist that. His desire to find any rift back to the present is very much waning.]

Well, there's at least one...but you know that already. And you've known that for years. You know also that if you keep being cute, you're going to draw me in even more. I might even have to kiss you~

[they've both slipped into domestics easily. Jeez.]

[a kiss? it's not like Osomatsu is going to say no if that happens. he's very pleased with this outcome. life in Prismatica has been a whirlwind of emotions for him. but if it leads to... happiness? like this? then Osomatsu is willing to keep trying, keep moving forward.

he responds with a light chuckle]

I don't ever stop being cute, yanno. This. [he gestures to himself] All this, right here, is the epitome of cute.

[Kazuma, in sharp contrast, literally just arrived here. He has no idea what is completely happening, outside of the little he learned before these 10 years hit, but...ultimately? If it turns out nice like this?

This is a big improvement over both the worlds he's been in before. It beats out having a mansion and over a million Eris, because here, he isn't surrounded by girls he begrudgingly puts up with. He's here with someone he cares about...in the most confusing way possible, but he's willing to move towards it. It seems beyond worth it.]

And humble too, huh?

[He snickers. And then he looks over, with a small hum...and leans in.]

I'm not gonna disagree, though. [Usually with someone, he'd be worried about screwing up any 'firsts' like this, but it's not? And it is? Whatever. It's doing wonders for his nerves here. He leans in fully, and kisses him. Warmth starts filling him immediately.

He could definitely get used to this.]

[hopefully this isn't some kind of weird dream, where Osomatsu will go back to being alone when he wakes up. the moment their lips touch, he's both nervous and not nervous at all. it's like they've done this a thousand times already, when... it hasn't even been once before this, in actuality.

well, whatever! what matters is right now! that's how Osomatsu feels. he's comfortable, happy, like he's glowing. he doesn't even question how much better he's become at kissing, because, of course he doesn't. he has ten years' worth of memories of kissing practice!

after a moment, he steps away, letting out a satisfied sigh]

[The moment their lips touch, he half expects an ear-piercing screech of 'KAZUMAAAAAAA' to bring him out of this, whether it be from Aqua or anyone else, but...that doesn't happen. Instead, the nice feeling persists. Instead, whatever leftover anxiety he has melts away entirely.

When they part, his eyes open, a soft smile on his face. He's a little bit speechless, because things are so very much going his way.]

...Just as perfect as the first time.

[That's because it is the first time, but that is so beside the point.]

[wow! what a charmer! Osomatsu snorts out another laugh, looking off to the side sheepishly. cue the embarrassed blushing]

Weren't we, uh... weren't we supposed to be looking for a way outta here?

[...Oh no, he's adorable.]

Oh. Yeah. We were.

[Because he had legitimately forgotten. Because his priorities got shifted real fast.]

...

We still have to, huh...

[His tune has swapped entirely from 'let's find a way home' to 'no, no, future's pretty neat, future's great', but he supposes this being the future is the long-term effect of his usual luck dominoes. And he's kind of terrified he'll forget this. He really, really doesn't want to.]
