You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

The next destination: Prismatica.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

▶ What’s Behind Door #1?

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara (

machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

B The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

▶ Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

C All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

▶ Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

D These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

[ Kokoro did not run every day for six years to be taken down by a bunch of monsters, but as she ran, she noticed there was a gap between herself and the nice girl she ran into.

Not ideal, really. And she was only a little smaller than Matsuzaki was. Then again, Matsuzaki was a vampire and could take care of himself. Yasuho was also a little taller than Rika, her old libero. So really, that made her just right for what Kokoro decided would be safest to do.]

Be mad about this later, OK? We need to get away from them, and they'll catch you first!

[ She let Yasuho get a couple steps ahead, and then scooped up the other fleeing girl into a princess carry before bolting down the path. Though she should've been sweaty from all that running, Kokoro was - blessedly - dry and kinda cool. Way drier and cooler than someone who had been running with Yasuho for a long while. ]

If you - hah - have a better plan - hah - please share it with the class!

[ It was the combination of the voice talking to her along with being scooped up and princess carried that was surprising. Given the situation she didn't have any room to be mad, but she did have the instinct to wrap her arms around the other girl to hold on close. ]

Th-thanks...! I... You're gonna want to keep going straight and make a left over at that big rock--And from there...

[ Yasuho seemed as if she was thinking, but she was getting a clearer visual of the path that Paisley Park had been laying out for this chase. ]

From there you're gonna make a sharp right, and then to the left there should be a hiding space...!

[ Something about Kokoro was so calming, she couldn't tell if it was being carried the way she was, or the coolness of her skin. But she managed to feel herself growing more at ease. ]

Uh-huh.

[She was saving her breath for running, not talking, and at least knew that if she got far enough away, she could be chattier later. Straight, left at rock, real sharp right. She could do that.

Following Yasuho's directions got them to a narrow hiding space and she let the thinner girl in first, before slipping in behind her, head down to catch her breath, and candy-pink hair hiding her expression where it had come out of her bun.]

How... How did you know this was here?

[ Getting situated first Yasuho couldn't even begin to show how grateful she was to this mysterious girl, considering the fact that she herself was almost about ready to pass out. But now that they were in a relatively safe place, she turned her attention to Kokoro and only took a moment to reach in to help fix the other's hair. ]

How I...? Oh, I have a little something that could help me with guidance. I wasn't able to use it before, but I guess considering how dire the situation was it pulled whatever energy I had left to help me.

[You know what? She didn't ask why it was Kokoro wasn't sweating, so Kokoro isn't going to ask how she was basically a human GPS.]

Well, whatever that little something is, I'm super glad about it. Still...

[She peeks her head out, just to see if they've lost those... whatever they were. She can still see movement, so she ducks her head back in.]

Obviously, we can't stay here, but let me catch my breath and we'll go to the next safest place. Does sound OK? I just don't want to get caught here and... you know, have to deal with whatever those things are.

[Kokoro shudders. Weird demony things that look like they came directly out of Tales of Kikuryou Ghost catalogue? No thanks.]

Yeah, it's not a good idea... I mean it's only a matter of time, but I also...

[ Yasuho found herself looking out that opening before holding her hand out to Kokoro ]

Do you think we could hold hands while I try and figure things out? How likely do you think it is that we could find that tear we got sucked into to get back to the other place?

It's not home, but at least it's not as outwardly dangerous as here yeah?

Oh! That's a great idea.

[Kokoro claps her hands, then stops, just in case she's heard, before talking the hand Yasuho offered.] The finding the way back out, I mean.

[You have to be clear about things.]

All that grinding noise is going give me a headache at this rate.

[ Giving Kokoro's hand a light squeeze she smiles at the other girl, nodding in agreement over the grinding sound. ]

Yeah, it's a pretty unsettling sound... at least the sound on the moon we were on before was just sort of like... windchimes I think?

[ Yasuho was trying to reflect on that, focus on something better. Looking down at their hands she could feel that warmth giving the littlest bit of energy. ]

So long as we generate enough chroma I think I could get Paisley Park out long enough to guide us back to the beach. It's a longshot, but it's better than having no plan right?

[Kokoro squeezes back, but knits her brow. They don't have a lot of time to be chatting, of course. But Kokoro doesn't see her with GPS or anything. Maybe it's a phone app?]

Worst case scenario I can pick you up again and dash, but... what's Paisley Park?

[Is that why she needs the chroma? Really this place is more questions than answers, but at least she hasn't had to deal with too much of freaked out icing of her own room for now.]

I'm not sure how to explain it, things are so different here and it looks like people show up from so many different places. Paisley Park is sort of like an extension of myself, there are a few things it can do... but one of the most useful for us right now is the ability to provide guidance.

I believe that normally only others with similar abilities are capable of seeing her. So don't feel discouraged if you find this hard to believe without any proof.

The only drawback here is that I noticed I couldn't use Paisley Park when my chroma was low before.

[ Looking down at their hands, she couldn't help but thumb over Kokoro's gently before leaning in a little closer ]

Hey, this might be crazy... but people have told me that you could produce more in a shorter amount of time the more contact you have with another person... If you're okay with it, we could hug or something.

[Alright, that... maybe like a... kami? There have been stranger things to deal with. Still, the wrinkles smooth from her brow. And she nods at the suggestion.]

A hug might do us both good, honestly; this place isn't like... really great for the stress levels. Do you want to do it now, before we get a racing start? At least that way, we both have a little more time to generate more of it.

[Maybe; Kokoro hasn't really tried to much to generate ice. If that'd even work. She opens her arms up for Yasuho.]

It's okay, it's understandable that anyone would be stressed in this situation. Honestly, if wasn't so scared about drawing attention I probably would've broken down crying...

[ Yasuho couldn't help but laugh a little to herself, moving in now to wrap her arms around Kokoro to give her a squeeze and rub her back reassuringly as she'd closed her eyes. ]

So where are you from? Is there anyone else from your home here that you know of?

[ Even as she was pressed in close her heart was slowing in comparison to how quickly it was beating when she first closed the distance between the both of them. ]

I don't know how you could feel so cool during all of this... but it's nice.

Crying isn't the worst reaction to have, though. Screaming, yes. Crying, no. You can still run if you're crying.

[Trust her, she knows. Kokoro finds it easiest to rest her head on Yasuho's.]

Ah, well, I was just finishing my graduation ceremony? I was going to Kikuryou Academy, it's like... thirty minutes from Kamakura, in the middle of nowhere.

[Kokoro laughs. Kikuryou was also incredibly haunted and had actual monsters taking classes, interspersed with all the normal human students... but she didn't need to know that. And Kokoro wasn't sure how to explain that, anyway.]

Just a talent, I guess. I don't really get warm. I swear my teammates used to use me as an icepack.

Maybe after this is all done, the situation is a little dire and I don't want to drag you down with me.

[ Always thinking of others when danger is afoot, though the longer they were like this the more at ease she felt as well as somewhat amorous ]

Academy and teammates? So you were into sports at home? Were you getting ready to go to university?

[ It was better to focus on something else seemingly normal in this situation, though as her chroma levels began to rise Paisley Park had made her appearance and began to move in order to find the best route to follow ]

I'm not really into crying, but I might join you.

[Kokoro hummed for a moment before answering.] Yeah, I was the captain of the girl's volleyball team. It was a lot of fun, actually. And, yeah, I was. I was kind of waiting to hear back from my exams and euugh, it's scary. You'd think being a photographer would be easy, but not really.

What about you? Where are you from?

[Honestly? It's super nice to hug and Kokoro doesn't mind it one bit. Especially since she is starting to feel more relaxed. ]

Given the circumstances I don't think anyone would hold it against you, sometimes it's just something you can't help.

But photography? That's pretty amazing, you must have a lot of passion for it. I'm from S city in Morioh, it's a small town but it's usually nice. I'm currently a first year university student there as well.

I was trying to help a friend find something important... But here I am instead.

[ Hugging had really helped to get her relaxed and calm, enough that she slowly began to pull away ]

It looks like Paisley Park found a path for us, the safest path that could be found anyway. But there's still a lot of those things out there. Do you think you're ready to handle it?

[If Kokoro was a bird, she would've fluffed up with pride. Instead, she gave Yasuho an extra squeeze.] I love it a lot, yeah.

You're a little ahead of me, then, for however much that counts right now. [Yasuho's slow retreat doesn't seem to bother Kokoro overmuch. She nodded and looked out past their hiding spot.]

I'm ready. Just say something if you're running out of breath. I won't leave you behind, but I'd like at least a half second of warning so I can pick you up again. OK?
