You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

▶ What’s Behind Door #1?

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara (

machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

B The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

▶ Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

C All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

▶ Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

D These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

What about you? Do you think you'll be able to sleep? You worked so hard, back there. If it weren't for you keeping everyone together, I think things could have gone really differently.

[ like, you know, if your sanity fell to 0? ]

[ Ah, they're talking about it. They have to, right? It's inevitable. Do-yoon isn't sure he'll ever be ready to think back to that, when it feels like it happened only moments ago, but somehow a million years ago. ]

I was just... you know, trying to keep it together. For everyone's sake. [ He stares down at his hands. At some point, they'd stopped shaking. When did that happen, he wonders? ] I don't want to think about what could have happened if we all lost it in there...

[ It's called a Bad Ending for a reason. But now that he's thinking about it, it's all coming back to him. The tension they'd felt, the fear... Hyesung's death, followed by Seil's... His sanity may not be at 0, but the danger has passed now, and it's getting harder to keep it down. ]

If we just... if we'd just waited, do you think things would have gone differently? If we... I don't know. [ Do-yoon brings a hand to his face, leaning forward on the table. ] I don't know how I'll be able to sleep, after all that.

[ Gyu-hyuk reaches over to put his hand on Do'yoon's free hand, hoping that the generation of chroma will help ground him a little. Do-yoon is right, of course, trying to sleep after everything that happened will be hard. But they're safe, now, away from everything. ]

We can't ask ourselves questions like that, like what we could've done differently. After all, I...I was the last person to see Seo Hyesung alive. If I had had been able to talk him out of it, and bring him back to the group...

[ He takes a deep, steadying breath. What's done is done. They can't undo the past or go back and try again. They can only go forward. ]

We're here now, though. We don't have to worry about the stage collapsing. We can breathe.

[ The touch really does help -- the moonlacing sensation is still new, it keeps Do-yoon from going too far into his own head. ]

Yeah. You're right.

[ He lowers the hand from his face and places it on Gyu-hyuk's, returning the gesture. Now that they're safe, Gyu-hyuk doesn't have to keep doing this... but he does, and Do-yoon truly appreciates it. But he can see how it hurts Gyu-hyuk, too. He's so strong. ]

We can't go back. And we'll only drive ourselves crazy thinking about what would have happened if we'd done anything else... it's best to let the past lie.

[ Do-yoon takes a deep breath too, squeezing Gyu-hyuk's hand and trying his best to force a smile. The ground beneath them is stable. The ceiling isn't going to cave in. BStars isn't even on the radar. ]

You're right, Gyu-hyuk. We're safe now. Both of us.

[ It's true, the unanswered questions could really eat at them if they think too hard. Better to focus on what they know. That they're safe. That they're here. That the mysteries of the past were pretty much wrapped up anyway, even if Do-yoon had wanted to talk through them one last time...

But Do-yoon's words -- and his touch -- pull him back to reality. ]

Both of us.

[ He repeats it almost mechanically, but it's clear that it's something he needed to hear, too, for all that he'd been strong when they'd been in there. He'd had to be, for Do-yoon. To keep Seil and Inha from killing each other. To keep Juyoung from panicking. But now...now he can learn on Do-yoon and Do-yoon can do the same with him. ]

[ Maybe another day they'll nag at his brain until he can't think straight, but for today, Do-yoon wants to stop worrying. He wants to be okay. To enjoy a real meal and sleep in a real bed and look to his side and know he's with someone he can trust. Someone who would never hurt him, who isn't in danger of dying from some horrible cave-in.

It's not too much to ask for, is it? ]

You were there for me. I'm here for you, too.

[ Now that the danger has passed, they need each other more than ever. There's no doubt that they'd be carrying reminders of that night with them for a long time. Moving forward wouldn't be easy, but at least they're not alone. ]

[ He honestly feels like he could cry, but that’s something for later, when he’s alone. ]

[ he wants to say again how do-yoon saved his life, how much he owes him but they’ve been over that. So instead, he stands and starts collecting the bowls. ]

I’ll clean up. You go get ready for bed.

[ Don't his your tears from Do-yoon, Gyu-hyuk... He saved his life so he could live it, not so he could spend the rest of it beating himself up. ]

[ He tried not to make too much of a mess, but he's not going to leave until he's at least left it rinsing in the sink.

Still, getting ready for bed... It's basically just washing up and sleeping in his shirt and boxers, right? Do-yoon needs a shower. A long one. But part of him doesn't want to leave Gyu-hyuk alone for too long, either. ]

I'm gonna go take a shower. Yell if you need anything, ok?

[ yeah.....leaving him alone.... ]

[ at least cleaning up gives him something to focus on. ]

[ Do-yoon nods, taking a good look at Gyu-hyuk before he leaves for the bathroom. A long shower can wait. He's more worried about Gyu-hyuk than he wants to wash off what remains of that night.

So he dashes away to the shower, tossing off his clothes and running the water way too hot. It's easier that way, so he can't feel the cold dread of what could have happened to them, or the fear he'd felt so constantly for those five hours that they managed to wait.

No, he's not going to think about that.

He showers quickly, changing back into his pants and just his shirt before stepping out of the bathroom with the rest of his clothes tucked under his arm. He'll take the pants off later, but he doesn't really want to flash poor Gyu-hyuk. (Why not, honestly?) ]

All set. The water pressure is pretty good. [ He can't remember actually, but it must have been. ] How's it going?

[ the dishes are all washed and the rice cooker cleaned, and he is now drying everything. he didn’t even break anything, although, admittedly, there was a point where he sort of felt like throwing a plate on the floor. everyone deals with trauma in different ways, you know?

But he didn’t. Their plates are safe. He smiles when Do-yoon returns. ]

That’s good to hear. This is all taken care of.

[ It's perfectly healthy to deal with your trauma by breaking things, Gyu-hyuk. That's totally okay. But Do-yoon is nonetheless relieved to find Gyu-hyuk in one piece when he returns. He did try to make the shower quick, since he was worried. ]

[ Do-yoon will... find something to do. He'll probably start counting their silverware, or check to make sure they have enough spoons. Or check Phater -- the network again. Hm, maybe not that one. ]

I know they said something about clothes that worked based on money, but I don't have the energy to figure that out today.

We don't need to worry about that now. Based on what they said...we'll have plenty of time to deal with that kind of thing.

[ Being stuck here isn't great, but it's better than being stuck there... ]

I guess I should shower.

[ Either way, they're trapped. But it's definitely better to have a roof over your head that isn't going to cave in. Do-yoon sucks in a breath. ]

Right... it's not like we're in any hurry to go back.

[ Maybe the less they talk about it, the better, but it's still so fresh that it's going to be hard. Well, and repressing it maybe isn't a great idea either.

Do-yoon steps back over to Gyu-hyuk's side, setting a hand on his arm. ]

You'll feel better after a shower. Or, well, at least we can wash off the smell of the stage.

[ Of course he is, Do-yoon knows whats up. Gyu-hyuk nods. ]

I'll shower.

[ Do-yoon nods right back, coming back around to pat Gyu-hyuk's side. He understands Gyu-hyuk's trepidation, after all, Gyu-hyuk has always been a kind, soft, and thoughtful guy. ]

I know the last thing either of us wants is to be alone right now. But I'll be right here when you get back, okay?

[ He tries to smile, a little sadly. ]

We're not in any danger here, I should know that. I guess it's just hard.

[ They're both faking it, trying to hold each other up. One of them is going to collapse eventually. ]

It doesn't feel real. Either being here, or back there... I know I keep waiting to wake up, somehow.

[ He takes a deep breath. ]

[ It's just a shower. He can do this. ]

[ Do-yoon nods, letting Gyu-hyuk go. ]

[ It's the kind of thing that would sound so strange, if it had been only just a day ago. Watching someone sleep? How weird is that.

It's not weird today, though. Do-yoon had spent the time alone fretting, going over and over in his head about whether or not Seil was murdered, or whether or not... well, he doesn't want to think about it. He's safe with Gyu-hyuk. He knows that. ]
