You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

 A  Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

▶ What’s Behind Door #1?

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.

Kazuma Kuwabara (machizumo), one of Lunatia's Moonblessed, has done his best to pick the right moment. He's saved up his energy -his Chroma- as best as he’s been able to, and he's decided that he's going to give busting out of Prismatica a shot. He's not sure how good his odds are, but there are odds. While Kuwabara is only but a human fighter who won't really be able to stack up against the demons that he normally keeps in his company, he does have one thing that nobody else he's heard of has... the ability to slice through dimensions!

It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.

What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.

 B  The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.

What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

▶ Fire and Brimstone
09/08 | Dimensional Tears | top

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.

 C  All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.

Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

▶ Closing the Gap
09/09 - 09/10 | top

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.

 D  These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.

The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

[Yusuke frowns and takes it back, replacing the mask on his face as Susanoo vanishes from behind him. The ice is beginning to crack, but Yusuke is conscious of the need for preserving Chroma for as long as possible.]

Before we break through, we should do something about your leg. My Persona can't heal, so staunching the bleeding is the best I can do.

[He takes off the striped sash around his waist that his fox tail is attached to, and carefully -- but tightly -- wraps it around Ianchus's leg.] Will this suffice?

[He doesn't have enough cloth to bind his neck and shoulder, too, so that will have to come later.]

[vocarrah]

[He flinches, but can't help but smile, despite himself. Look how responsible he is.]

Good enough. Thank you, Yusuke.

[He hasn't missed the ice cracking, looking around them.]

...I'll get the right side. I'll do what I can. [Wasn't it him that had gotten them into this?}

[wantsnudes]

[The familiar way he uses his name gives him pause once again as he looks up at him, but he doesn't comment, picking up his katana and getting to his feet.]

Very well. Don't let them separate us.

[He turns to cover the left side just in time for some of the demonic creatures to crash through the ice. He's not fazed, remaining calm and dispatching them with swift, efficient slices of his blade.]

[vocarrah]

Of course.

[Funny, that, isn't it? weren't they separated before? Or, rather...Ianchus was separated from Yusuke. His departure had definitely left an odd void in the rotten apple that's supposed to be Ianchus' heart.

He's lucky the apparitions are so feral, he thinks, as he forces himself away from that thought. With his wounds, he can only cleave, letting his shamshir swing in powerful arcs and into the apparitions.]

Be careful! They won't let go if they catch you--

[He fights back with the same kind of ferocity he was using to recruit others before; as an apparition attacks from his bad side, he forces his forearm into its mouth, taking its head a moment later--though it gains him another wound.]

[Yusuke tsks as he realises Ianchus is caught again, and while he's able to dispatch the creature on his own, Yusuke still decides to back him up. Summoning his Persona, it sends up another burst of ice on Ianchus's side that sprouts up like a glacial tree, before shattering and striking any of the apparitions nearby with shards of ice. Those that aren't destroyed are frozen in place and unable to move.]

We have an opening! Can you run? I'll cover you!

[He dances away from an apparition that lunges for him, slicing another in two that tries to grab his arm, tearing through the material of his suit.]

[vocarrah]

[He starts to protest, but--another memory floats to his conscious:

'Please, trust me, Ianchus.'

That sends another pang through him, and he shifts, clenching his jaw.]

Right. I'm going!

[And then he's running, even though everything he's made of is screaming at him that he should be the cover. Really--letting a youth, letting Yusuke protect him? That's--

--It's wrong, but isn't it what he wanted?]

Aid him, Kamu Susanoo!

[He summons his Persona once more, which casts a Masukukaja spell on them both, briefly engulfing them in light. Once it passes Ianchus will find he's more nimble and more easily able to dodge anything that comes his way.

Yusuke isn't far behind, benefiting from the same spell, but intentionally lagging to draw more intention to himself instead of the bleeding and wounded man up ahead.]

[vocarrah]

[Yusuke had explained it to him a little, but he'd forgotten most of it and hadn't ever been under the direct effects of it. It's impressive, that light feeling.

He'll thank him later. He knows there's no time for pleasantries in the heat of things.

Thankfully, Yusuke's distraction works; Ianchus can dispatch the ones that opt to chase his blood easily enough. It's when they're a ways away that he finally sinks to one knee, bracing himself by sinking his sword into the ground.]

[wantsnudes]

[Once they're away, Yusuke has to stop to catch his breath as well, pushing up his mask to wipe sweat from his brow and panting. He's none the worse for wear aside from a few surface level scratches.]

I think... we lost them. [He puffs,] How are you feeling?

[vocarrah]

Like a feast roast.

[Ianchus leans back against a rock, taking a deep breath as he remembers his manners.]

...Fine, I'm fine. Thank you. Are you hurt--? [His eyes already running over the scrapes on him.]

[wantsnudes]

Nothing a little moonlacing won't fix.

[He glances down at his injuries, unfazed, then looks back at Ianchus.]

Did you truly want them to eat you? Or were they preying on your mind as well?

[vocarrah]

[Ahh, he doesn't like lying much...especially not to Yusuke. Even though...Yusuke doesn't seem to remember him? Time to redirect!]

...Mm. I'm sorry for dragging you into that. And for grabbing your mask. It was quite rude of me, wasn't it?

[wantsnudes]

Don't make a habit out of it, and I can forgive you.

[He smiles wryly.] That said... How did you know my name? You seemed to recognise my face, as well.

[vocarrah]

[Sweet, kind, gracious boy. Thank you, Yusuke.
At the question, though, he tilts his head.]

...Ah. You do not know me...? Ianchus Cepheos...?

[wantsnudes]

Should I...?

[He tilts his head, regarding him, but there's no recognotion there. That said, he can be a little spacey, but even so he usually has a good eye for faces.]

Perhaps it was in another world? I don't remember meeting you either here or in my own.

[vocarrah]

[It's not surprising, but he does look a little dejected.
Only for a moment, though--he's just so glad to see him.]

...Another world, yes. But do not worry about it. We are here now, ah?

[He bows a little at the waist, half sitting up to manage it. The urge to grab him by the shoulders is strong, and he has to stop himself.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Yusuke.

[wantsnudes]

Likewise.

[He offers a short bow, then takes a step forwards.] Will you allow me to assist further with your wounds?

[vocarrah]

If it's no trouble to you. [Let's be real, moonlacing has always appealed to him; he likes being close to people. Yusuke, though, is different, isn't he? Or at least he was last time.]

Are you a protector here?

[wantsnudes]

[Yusuke's still not exactly touchy-feely, at least not around people he's not acquainted with, and it shows in the way he gingerly takes Ianchus's hand in both of his gloved ones, allowing them to generate some Chroma and begin to heal his injuries. There would, of course, be much faster ways to heal, but he has no idea what this man is comfortable with.]

A protector? I suppose that's one way of putting it. [Not that many would use that word for a Phantom Thief.] I'm simply an artist. But I do what I can to help others in need.

[vocarrah]

[Yusuke, you'd be surprised at what he's comfortable with.]

Either way, you were there when I needed it. Thank you.

[He looks down at that gloved hand, then up at Yusuke again.]

...How old are you?

[wantsnudes]

[A puzzled blink.]

Eighteen. Why do you ask?

[vocarrah]

Only curious.

[So he's about that same age that he'd been when he'd left Hadriel, ah?

He's glad Yusuke's mask is pushed up. He studies his face, thinking about how welcoming it is. Funny, for the first time in...however long he can remember, he's at a loss for things to say. It isn't comfortable for a man who'd just tried to get you eaten to come out spilling all your secrets...even if one wasn't a quiet introvert.

...But he does have a spark of inspiration. It's a little odd to say, but he's never been in this kind of situation before...]

Kat...Katsushika Hokusai.

[Is that right? Is that strange?]

[wantsnudes]

Y-yes? What about him?

[It takes a lot to weird Yusuke out, of all people, but Ianchus is definitely succeeding.]

[vocarrah]

[That's...! Not what he meant to do! He's definitely not used to being weird on accident, not since he was younger than even Yusuke.]

...When I met you before, you taught me about him. An artist from your world that you look up to, yes? His daughter, as well.

[wantsnudes]

Hmmm... It's true, he is a very famous artist in my world.

[Yusuke offers a smile. It adds up to something he'd say, and he has no reason to believe he could be lying.]

But why not tell me more about yourself? It seems I am at a disadvantage here.
