▶ TDM .019
You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.
The next destination: Prismatica.

Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top
Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.
A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

The recent torrential rains and showdown with the Viergian Queen Tempeste have shifted the sands of Crystal Beach and dredged up seaweed and flotsam from below. The slight mess coupled with the seasonal transition into fall makes for a quieter beach and a more open space, if you pick the right time of the day.
Kazuma Kuwabara (
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
It's not easy to summon, but he manages it, reflecting on his home and how to best reach it, how to potentially help others reach theirs. It's just past dawn when a large, clean tear in reality rises up along the atmosphere just above the mostly deserted beach, as though the scenery were made of fabric being met with sharp scissors. Beyond the tear is a swirling vortex of color and more.
What more means, Kuwabara doesn't personally get to discover. His energy is expended almost instantaneously, and he grows solidly crystallized before he hits the ground. The rest of it... that's for Prismatica and the Moonblessed around to discover.
B The dimensional tear gives way to several more multicolored tears all across the planet. These strange rips have a strong gravitational pull that is near impossible to outrun. Find yourself close to one, and you may be pulled inside before you can even think to escape.
What’s on the other end? Inside, you find a scene of Prismatica ten years into the future, and the world is significantly more advanced. It is a time of great prosperity. The planet has been completely restored, flourishing with new life. Ten years' worth of memories flood your mind, and you have settled so deep into the culture and the world that you now think of yourself as a true-blue Prismatican. Maybe you have a good job. Maybe you have a spouse and three kids. Maybe you still think about home from time to time. Maybe you wouldn’t mind staying here with your loved ones. Hey, a lot can happen in ten years.

Not every dimensional tear leads to paradise. Some may pull you deep into the flames of a dying world, during the Calamity centuries ago. The first to greet you is King Majestas, his visage sitting on top of a throne built over a mound of crystallized bones. He fondly strokes his beautiful satyr lover, Lunae, as he encourages you to explore the vast wasteland. Attacking him is useless as he will disappear with Lunae after saying his piece.
C All Chroma has evaporated, and everything is covered in an endless diamond sheen. In the distance, you hear the screams of people dying and the constant sounds of crystals being ground up.
Eventually, shadows appear before your eyes. Possessing crystal horns and a crystal tail, these devil shadows are consumed by your worst sin and will not hesitate to hurt you and those around you. The slothful can put others to sleep and soon ravage them in their slumber, the lustful can awaken the darkest taboo desires in you, and so on. No matter what your worst sin is, the shadows will thoroughly enjoy committing vile acts until you submit yourself to them.

A day or two after the dimensional tears start appearing, Lunar Scientia announces that they have finished analyzing the mysterious rifts and will proceed to seal them after rescuing the missing Moonblessed. They will be calling for the Moon Knights and any remaining Moonblessed volunteers to grab some dimension sealing equipment. Yes, you read that right. The tears will be sealed shut in nearly the same way one would vacuum seal food for extra freshness.
D These dimension sealers are not just any ordinary vacuums. They require an excessive amount of Chroma to power. Just hugging one person alone won’t cut it. Prolonged awkward and uncomfortable hugs with at least two or three different Moonblessed will do the trick.
The Lunar Scientia will suggest setting up camp with your chosen partners and dimension sealers near a dimensional tear. Spooning is naturally the most optimal of positions. The longer you moonlace and the more people you engage in contact with, the higher the effectiveness of the dimension sealers. A meter on the device will indicate when it’s ready to be activated, but beware of the sinful shadows from Prompt C trying to stop you from sealing the rifts.

Once the holes are sealed and everyone is rescued, the Lunatian government and mainstream media stations will start issuing friendly PSAs on all the public access networks about the dangers of cutting holes through the fabric of their universe.

[ She's straightforward with it. Meets his gaze and doesn't waiver. ]
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to meet you myself.
[ She could've sat outside his door and simply peeked in on him, asked the nurse's about his progress. She knows very well how to avoid being seen, discovered, after all, but here she is, facing him and that rude, defensive attitude directly.
She supposes she can't blame him for that. Who knows how much of the welcoming spiel he got if he was injured and combative on arrival. ]
no subject
He's trying to fight himself awake, but it's so impossibly hard.]
You... [he looks at her again, turns his head to watch her better. He still can't see her, doesn't know where his glasses are, and he's squinting still.
Hasn't he seen her before?]
... know my older brother. [There it is, the puzzle pieces fitting together. And someone who knows Rin that well is... he can probably trust her not to attack him right now.]
no subject
[ He remembers her, then. Whether that's a positive or negative, she'll find out soon enough. She reaches to lift the chair she'd been sitting in by its back and takes a few steps closer to the bed. She stops a good number of feet away, leaving generous room between them for his comfort, and watches for any tells as to his reception as she speaks, thoughtful. He shouldn't have to strain so much with her more or less center and level in the light. It's a small smile that tugs at her mouth. ]
I've known him for almost a year now as difficult as that may be to believe. Has anyone given you the run down about this place?
[ He probably isn't in the proper mental state to process it right now and if not, that's okay. She can tell it to him straight later if necessary. ]
no subject
She's closer, but he still can't see her clearly, sees the twitch of ears but not the exact details of the expression on her face.]
A... year?
No, no, that doesn't make sense. [He's not accusing her of lying, he's just deeply confused.]
no subject
I'll explain it properly after you've rested a while. Some of it may still be confusing, though. This realm and its gods -- er, demons don't respect much, not even time.
no subject
It goes on a few seconds too long.]
Did anyone tell him that?
no subject
Him?
[ She decides to ask, and cautiously, quirking a brow just so. ]
no subject
Mephisto Pheles. The... the demon king of time. Serves him right.
no subject
You mean the clown who's also the headmaster of True Cross Academy?
[ They're one and the same, if her memory serves her correctly, also, Rin's legal guardian. Does that make him Yukio's as well? She's presently imagining some sort of over the top demonic clown wedged between the two boys equipped with a bright red nose and oversized shoes and it's... making her pause and earning a weird look from her.
Please stop her. ]
no subject
Yes. [That's a Rin sort of description, but accurate.]
no subject
If he were to arrive, I imagine he'd find out fairly quickly.
[ To her knowledge, he hadn't. Lucifer had come and gone, but given Rin's reaction to speaking to that person and certain words coming back to her now, that's not a subject she should breach either just yet. ]
I take it you aren't fond of him either.
no subject
no subject
At the very least, she's glad he's laying down properly now, but there's something nagging at the back of her mind, something... about his consistent glaring, actually. What is it?
Hadn't Rin said...? ]
That's it!
[ She's got it. ]
You wear glasses, don't you?
no subject
Mmm. [Yeah, it's definitely the drugs. He tries again.] Yes, I... I wear glasses.
[Really strong prescription glasses, in fact. They're in a drawer in a table, placed in a bag on top of his neatly-folded (though unwashed, dirty with rubble and blood and coal tar dust and scorch marks) white illuminati uniform. The glasses are... almost intact, lenses cracked but still held in plastic frames, the nosebridge just barely holding everything together. He'll need a new pair before he leaves the hospital.]
no subject
Do you want me to ask the nurse about getting you a new pair? I doubt you're going to want to be here any longer than you have to.
[ Hospitals are like that.
Don't mind her popping the bag open to get a closer, careful look at his glasses and clothes and that's when it happens. The bag's not open for all of a two seconds and her nose twitches, her lungs seize, and she sneezes once, twice, three, no four times. She's turning her face into the back of her hand, trying to calm the fifth before it escapes. ]
Wh...?
no subject
What's wrong?
no subject
I don't.. know.
[ But she wasn't like this a moment ago. Her eyes move to the bag, its contents. There's... his clothes weren't decontaminated? She coughs again and starts to zip it back up. ]
no subject
Oh, that blurry folded shape of fabric is obvious.]
There's... um, sorry, there might be some coal tar dust... are you allergic?
no subject
I... no, I don't have allergies.
[ This may or may not be an exaggeration. Either way, the back of her throat disagrees. ]
Wh-what's a coal tar?
no subject
Yeah it's absolutely the drugs right now, sorry Setsura.]
no subject
[ Sorry, Yukio. She's coughing into her hands, but its sounds like maybe it's letting up a little. What the heck is going on with her body? ]
What is it?
no subject
The, um-- [is this a quiz??] they're the little demons? The ones that are everywhere? [He makes a sort of gesture at the window. Obviously there aren't any coal tar in a hospital.]
They're kin of rot? They possess airborne dust and pollution and... stuff?
You know what a coal tar is. Did I hit my head? [He feels like it, or maybe it's just the sedation? He's in a hospital, after all. Is this some kind of weird post-concussion survey???]
no subject
This is just awful. She's still listening, though. ]
Airborne?
[ Airborne rot. She furrows her brows and starts scrubbing her hands, inwardly cursing. This would be so much easier if she could channel her energy properly. Is this a matter of chemistry? Under the water her hands go. ]
We're not from the same world.
no subject
Sorry, I didn't realize you were allergic. [The rest sort of skips over him, hits a glancing blow to his awareness that he might be able to figure out later, once he's more alert.]
no subject
You couldn't have known.
[ Her eyes feel a little better, but that apology is taking her somewhat aback now. She's curious. She has questions, but Yukio did just get out of surgery. He's tired, out of it. Is he even processing everything she says? He seemed to be having trouble grasping things some minutes ago and he did just speak like he thought she was from Assiah. Is it the drugs, probable damage, or both? She isn't sure. ]
But I suppose that's something to keep in mind.
[ Considering she has every intention on going to Assiah, the fact that there are coal tar everywhere is indeed something to keep in mind if her body reacts like this. There's something off, though. ]
How would you have expected to know that? [ That she's... allergic. ]
