Moon Iris; Lunar Scientia, Lunatia | top

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why didn’t I take the blue pill? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel. Destination: Prismatica.

At the Lunar Scientia Headquarters on Level 1, there is a new research area called the Amphoria Room, where curious scientists and engineers discover and develop new ways to further understand the Moonblessed. Its state-of-the-art VR technology allows its users to run simulated spaces created directly from their imaginations. Using a Moonblessed's memories, the simulations give others a peek into their world, perhaps deepening their relationship with each other as well as with the Prismals. The scientists aren't going to force you to use it, but why not give it a shot? All who use the Amphoria Room will be given a reward for their first attempt.

A ⬤ To upload your memories to the machine, you are given a neural transmitter worn like an earring. Some may feel a small, numb zap in the back of your head, but as the scientists told you, it's completely harmless. Soon, pixels and polygons surrounding you quickly build scenery from your mind. Perhaps it's an imagined world to your liking, with sheep that roll down hills, cars that run on love, and people who worship you like a rock star. Or maybe it’s a familiar scene with nostalgic places, events or even memories of a special someone. Everything will appear lifelike and to scale the moment you think of it. Those who can see your virtual world with you are free to interact with it.

B ⬤ But you're not a rock star, and not all that glitters is gold. The Amphoria Room is still in beta, so some of the characters in your virtual creation may act erratic or out of character. This may range from funny bugs, like walking and T-posing NPCs who want to establish dominance, to more disturbing errors... NPCs might go off-topic to speak of loneliness and suffocation. At times, they will convulse and pull at their bodies until they are naked. Some will start begging you to “set us free.” Their repeating whispers soon evolve into resounding chants, and it isn’t long until the NPCs start oozing purple liquid from underneath their digital flesh. There's a good chance a tentacle might burst out of them and spill onto the ground, twitching feebly for your attention. If any of them try to attack you, there’s no need to worry. You won't die in real life!

If anything gets out of hand, the scientists will quickly come to the rescue, immediately end all simulations, and usher the Moonblessed out of the room for their own safety. The scientists say this never happened during their Prismal-only runs… They will look into this. For now, the Moonblessed participants can have their reward, as promised: a crystal. To learn more about crystals, read on!

Love It or List It: Lunatia Edition
Lunatia | top

After barely avoiding a virtual tentacling in the digital sea, it’s better to move on. There’s a whole city to explore!

A ⬤ Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B ⬤ A rabbit-eared mage runs a popular crystal shop on Level 1 that sells — you guessed it — crystals of all kinds. Most crystals are used by the locals to store demichroma for later use in everyday spells and arcane artifacts, but if you put chroma in them, they will shatter and the energy will take the form of a small sprite. Ever since the last Encircling, many customers have been complaining about sprites invading their home, eating their food, stealing their jewelry, and leaving glittery droppings all over the furniture!

The shop owner asks you to retrieve as many of them as you can, using a net and a special whistle that attracts them. Hurry, before they make a mess! Oh, and please don't touch them directly. Direct contact with the sprites will cause them to overload with chroma and explode into a frightening amount of rainbow glitter. If you successfully bring the sprites back, she will give you a… card? Huh. Well, she promises it will be useful.

When Life Gives You Dragonfruits
Anywhere | top

A day after settling in your apartment, you get new mail at your door. It’s a gift package from Lyestellus Kingdom and its thankful citizens. The Moonblessed tended to their precious children last month, saving their future generations. As a token of their never-ending gratitude, they’ve sent a generous basket of succulent fruits! On the card, they explain that these grow on the bushes around their mountain springs.

Little do they know of the fruit's side effects on the Moonblessed. Eating the fruit will yield any or all of these effects:

A ⬤ “Dragon Eyes” - Your pupils will narrow and your eyes will glow. You will be able to see a person's mood through the color of their auras. The colors you see are up to you. But for some reason, you might also see what’s under their clothing as well. (As always, please ask OOC permission before doing so!)

B ⬤ “Dragon Fire” - You will be able to — surprise of surprises — blow fire from your mouth. While the fire will not hurt you, almost everything the fire comes into contact with can and will be set aflame. Others who have eaten the fruit cannot burn, but they will feel the impact of the flames, as if they are being pushed back!

C ⬤ “Dragon Song” - Your voice will become beautiful to hear. Anything you say, hum or sing will come out in pleasant melodies regardless if you’ve previously never had musical talent... or are even singing. It might even make others want to sway to your words, dance and follow you wherever you go, even if they don’t want to!

All effects last for an hour before they wear off. Eat with moderation or you’ll experience temporary heartburn!

[ Videl was about to giggle at Kyoka's reaction, though that last part causes her the pause entirely. Because that isn't the reaction that she was expecting. At all.]

Uh, yeah, I remember you. I mean, after all that insanity in Duplicity it'd be hard for me to forget anyone that I met there.

[ Of course, the mere fact that Kyoka even has to ask that question the the first place is a big clue to Videl that something is probably wrong. ]

... Though I guess from your reaction that probably means that not everyone who was there actually remembers it?

[
Which mean that this wasn't just where everyone who went home ended up. So much for having a chance at seeing Gohan again.]

Kinda. Like, Midoriya's around here, but I don't think he's, uh...

[She reaches up to rub the back of her neck, ending up dusting off a cloud of glitter as she does it.]

... I'm not sure he's even been to Duplicity.

The others talked about alternate timelines and universes and whatever, you know?
There's a chance that stuff holds here, too. Alternate universes and all that jazz.

[ Wait, what? That was... actually completely understandable and far more reasonable than she would like to admit. Because now not only did she have to worry about people and friends that she met back in Duplicity not recognizing her, it's entirely possible that the Gohan that she had met there briefly wasn't even the same Gohan from her timeline.

... Okay, thinking too much on that was just going to make her depressed or drive her nuts. Just accept it like you accepted every other insane thing Videl.]

God, that makes way too much sense. And thinking about it too much is just going to give me a huge headache. [ She pauses for a moment, frowning. ]

Have you run into anyone else who remembers Duplicity? I've run into one other person I knew so far.

[Jiro's probably a little luckier in that she'd thought about it (for days) back at Duplicity... the implication of it all.
So she's flowing into it pretty easily. "He's Midoriya, but he's not my Midoriya, and that's okay" is how she's choosing to feel about it.

That said, Videl's question gets one, excited nod.]

Mm! Present Mic is here. He's my teacher, but I was contracted to him back there, too.

[A pause --]

- I mean, like, in a business-only kinda contract. Just to make sure I didn't have to stay in the Down, you know...
justicedevil: (Z06)

[personal profile] justicedevil 2019-06-10 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ Okay, that's good to know. So it's not just the two of them. ]

I'm glad to hear that he's here. I think I might have talked to him on the network back there, but it was only briefly.

And I totally get that set up. I mean, when I was contracted with Ranka that we basically did it for the same reason.[ Well, that and Videl had been running up against the time limit for getting one. ]

I don't think that was really unusual for those of us who weren't born in Duplicity.

[personal profile] earrdrums 2019-06-10 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[It is most definitely not just the two of them... not that they know the scope of things just yet, of course. But in due time.

Jiro nods a bit, agreeing, though she still looks a little embarrassed about her former contract. Probably because, well.]

I mean, yeah... but he was still my teacher, you know? That's at least a little strange.
Not that it was too bad or anything. He's kind of like that weird, fun uncle every family has, I guess.

It's kind of weird how we're all showing up here like this, though... don't you think?
justicedevil: (Z14)

[personal profile] justicedevil 2019-06-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Yeah, I get that. But even if it was weird to be in a contract with him, at least your teachers were willing to watch out for you.

[ Because seriously, if they weren't she was pretty sure everyone was going to have had to contract with Bakugo and that was just a nightmare waiting to happen based on what she knew about him. ]

Yeah, it is pretty weird. If it weren't for you saying that Izuku hadn't been to Duplicity I'd just assume that this was where everyone who "went home" ends up, but that's obviously not the case. [ There's a pause as she thinks about it.]

Though since this world is apparently just grabbing people, maybe it was easier for it to grab us since we already weren't in our original world?

I mean, it's just a guess, we'll have to find someone who actually studied this stuff to get an actual answer.

[personal profile] earrdrums 2019-06-10 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Her thoughts are right on the mark, honestly. Jiro wanted to avoid contracting with Bakugou at all costs... he's a good friend and all, and she appreciates that he understands her better than most of the other guys!
But he's still Bakugou.

Videl's suggestion, though, gets a thoughtful sounding hum from her - and after a moment, she nods a bit in agreement.]

... It might just be a guess, but that's a good one, if you ask me.
I mean, like you said, it makes sense, right? We were already floating around out there in another world.
It must've made us easier to grab.

But now I gotta wonder... does that mean we might see more people from back there? I mean, there's no saying we're the only ones who'll show up, right?
justicedevil: (Z06)

[personal profile] justicedevil 2019-06-11 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ Videl nods at that, smiling a little at the thought of meeting more people who were in Duplicity. Sure, she was still hoping to run into Gohan. But maybe she'll run into Ranka. Or maybe Ryuji and Lyse?

Of course, there was also something else to bring up.]

I've actually already run into someone else I knew from Duplicity. And she remembered everything.

[Of course, Lissa had left Duplicity a while ago and yet somehow just got here? Which made no sense but wasn't really that different than her leaving her world in May and showing up in Duplicity in September. ]
