Moon Iris; Lunar Scientia, Lunatia | top

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why didn’t I take the blue pill? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel. Destination: Prismatica.

At the Lunar Scientia Headquarters on Level 1, there is a new research area called the Amphoria Room, where curious scientists and engineers discover and develop new ways to further understand the Moonblessed. Its state-of-the-art VR technology allows its users to run simulated spaces created directly from their imaginations. Using a Moonblessed's memories, the simulations give others a peek into their world, perhaps deepening their relationship with each other as well as with the Prismals. The scientists aren't going to force you to use it, but why not give it a shot? All who use the Amphoria Room will be given a reward for their first attempt.

A ⬤ To upload your memories to the machine, you are given a neural transmitter worn like an earring. Some may feel a small, numb zap in the back of your head, but as the scientists told you, it's completely harmless. Soon, pixels and polygons surrounding you quickly build scenery from your mind. Perhaps it's an imagined world to your liking, with sheep that roll down hills, cars that run on love, and people who worship you like a rock star. Or maybe it’s a familiar scene with nostalgic places, events or even memories of a special someone. Everything will appear lifelike and to scale the moment you think of it. Those who can see your virtual world with you are free to interact with it.

B ⬤ But you're not a rock star, and not all that glitters is gold. The Amphoria Room is still in beta, so some of the characters in your virtual creation may act erratic or out of character. This may range from funny bugs, like walking and T-posing NPCs who want to establish dominance, to more disturbing errors... NPCs might go off-topic to speak of loneliness and suffocation. At times, they will convulse and pull at their bodies until they are naked. Some will start begging you to “set us free.” Their repeating whispers soon evolve into resounding chants, and it isn’t long until the NPCs start oozing purple liquid from underneath their digital flesh. There's a good chance a tentacle might burst out of them and spill onto the ground, twitching feebly for your attention. If any of them try to attack you, there’s no need to worry. You won't die in real life!

If anything gets out of hand, the scientists will quickly come to the rescue, immediately end all simulations, and usher the Moonblessed out of the room for their own safety. The scientists say this never happened during their Prismal-only runs… They will look into this. For now, the Moonblessed participants can have their reward, as promised: a crystal. To learn more about crystals, read on!

Love It or List It: Lunatia Edition
Lunatia | top

After barely avoiding a virtual tentacling in the digital sea, it’s better to move on. There’s a whole city to explore!

A ⬤ Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B ⬤ A rabbit-eared mage runs a popular crystal shop on Level 1 that sells — you guessed it — crystals of all kinds. Most crystals are used by the locals to store demichroma for later use in everyday spells and arcane artifacts, but if you put chroma in them, they will shatter and the energy will take the form of a small sprite. Ever since the last Encircling, many customers have been complaining about sprites invading their home, eating their food, stealing their jewelry, and leaving glittery droppings all over the furniture!

The shop owner asks you to retrieve as many of them as you can, using a net and a special whistle that attracts them. Hurry, before they make a mess! Oh, and please don't touch them directly. Direct contact with the sprites will cause them to overload with chroma and explode into a frightening amount of rainbow glitter. If you successfully bring the sprites back, she will give you a… card? Huh. Well, she promises it will be useful.

When Life Gives You Dragonfruits
Anywhere | top

A day after settling in your apartment, you get new mail at your door. It’s a gift package from Lyestellus Kingdom and its thankful citizens. The Moonblessed tended to their precious children last month, saving their future generations. As a token of their never-ending gratitude, they’ve sent a generous basket of succulent fruits! On the card, they explain that these grow on the bushes around their mountain springs.

Little do they know of the fruit's side effects on the Moonblessed. Eating the fruit will yield any or all of these effects:

A ⬤ “Dragon Eyes” - Your pupils will narrow and your eyes will glow. You will be able to see a person's mood through the color of their auras. The colors you see are up to you. But for some reason, you might also see what’s under their clothing as well. (As always, please ask OOC permission before doing so!)

B ⬤ “Dragon Fire” - You will be able to — surprise of surprises — blow fire from your mouth. While the fire will not hurt you, almost everything the fire comes into contact with can and will be set aflame. Others who have eaten the fruit cannot burn, but they will feel the impact of the flames, as if they are being pushed back!

C ⬤ “Dragon Song” - Your voice will become beautiful to hear. Anything you say, hum or sing will come out in pleasant melodies regardless if you’ve previously never had musical talent... or are even singing. It might even make others want to sway to your words, dance and follow you wherever you go, even if they don’t want to!

All effects last for an hour before they wear off. Eat with moderation or you’ll experience temporary heartburn!

I can't see anything without my glasses on, I'm not looking at you like anything.

[ He's easily irritated, but he's not going to pick a fight with a talking lightbulb. (He's aware she's not actually a light bulb, but he has no idea what she looks like and it's easier than trying to guess- especially since he's well aware if he puts his glasses back on, she's going to be naked and that's not acceptable.) ]

[personal profile] schmisse 2019-06-09 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Then what are you doing without them?

[ She begins to look around in the nearby area. There doesn't seem to be any stray eyewear on the ground. ]

Someone's bound to think you're a suspicious character and call a Moon Knight on you.

[ Weiss could easily just leave him alone, but as a future Moon Knight, she can't exactly do that! She has to do her "good deeds" for the day. ]
accurately: (i bet he does this when they're off too)

[personal profile] accurately 2019-06-10 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've consumed something that's altered my vision because it was provided to me without appropriate warning.

[ He reaches up to push up his glasses, then stops, remembering that they're off and tucked into the pocket of his polo shirt. ]

The Moon Knights will appreciate my efforts if they attempt to arrest me.
schmisse: (✧ advice)

[personal profile] schmisse 2019-06-11 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ So instead of living with an altered vision, he would prefer to be blind. A strange way of winning over a situation, for sure. ]

Okay. [ ... Weiss wants to ask. She wants to. God. ] Maybe there's a nearby clinic that can help you. Or maybe it'll wear off soon? You should probably sit down.
accurately: (carrots are actually really sweet)

[personal profile] accurately 2019-06-12 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Do you want him to look at your boobs or do you want him to need a seeing eye dog, Weiss? Those are the only two options. He's chosen to just stand here until it wears off. He imagines the colors of the blurs will change when it does, but right now everything except Weiss looks flesh-colored.

Weiss looks like a snow monster. ]

I have no intention of accruing medical costs if it's something that will wear off shortly given that it started when I ate fruit. If it doesn't stop after an hour I'll go in for it.

[ He would sit down if he could, Weiss. But he can't find the nearest bench. :| It's that bad. ]

[ The tiniest snow monster... ]

. . . So you're just going to stand there.

[ She's definitely judging. And she's about to say something about how he should move because he's sticking out like a sore thumb, but a few Prismal children playing nearby end up throwing a ball at Midorima and hitting him on the back. One of them laughs and says "HE'S DEAD!!!!" before they grab the ball and run away.

(Maybe they're playing some sort of dodgeball?!) ]

Or play a game with some children, apparently.

[ He can't see it coming so he just immediately gets pissed, grits his teeth, and turns to face them but.. you know, he can't really see anything so he's not even facing 100% the right way. ]

Don't throw things at people!

[ And he turns back to Weiss. Or tries to. He's still a little off. At least she's blindingly white so it's easy to get within the range of her blur. He crosses his arms and looks extra huffy and annoyed. ]

Whatever those bastards gave me made it so I can see through clothing, so I don't have a lot of options.

[ He sounds so pissy at this point, but he really.. has no idea what to do. His eyes are stripping people of their consent and their attire and he doesn't know what to do about it except stand here blindly until it's over!! >:| He doesn't want to get beat up by children though?? But he also doesn't want to look at everyone naked for his own reasons bc god that's embarrassing. ]
schmisse: (v4 26)

[personal profile] schmisse 2019-06-15 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh my god. He has no idea where to look. Weiss can't help but laugh at that, but in that demure Weiss-like way that she covers up by placing her hand on her mouth. He's angry and he doesn't even know where to be angry at...

She can at least understand the predicament he's in, though. And she immediately takes a step back away from him. As if that would help any, but she thought it right at the time. ]

You honestly don't! Cover your eyes!

[ she's trying to help... She even goes to move so she's behind him. You can't see her now, pervert!!! ]

[personal profile] accurately 2019-06-15 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ ?????

Where did she... ]

You look like a blur of white! It's different than the rest of the environment, so I know you've gone somewhere but I can't see anything!

[ Yes, that's an exclamation mark. he's yelling because he's not sure if she backed away and left or is somewhere nearby. But seriously, without his glasses on it doesn't really matter if his eyes are opened or closed. But he honestly doesn't want to be left alone despite his anger, which is why he's yelling to tell her that he can't see her, even if he'll never admit to why. ]

[personal profile] schmisse 2019-06-15 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm behind you. For safety reasons.

[ "Safety"... ]

Turn to your left and then walk a little. There's a bench. You can sit down there so you don't get attacked by more children.

[ Because it looks like the children are back and are kicking the ball they're playing with around the general vicinity. ]
accurately: (thoughtfully >:()

[personal profile] accurately 2019-06-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He won't complain. She's also not making him ask for help and helping him in a dignified way, so he'll actually cooperate. He takes a step to his left, then walks slowly. Despite his height, he's accustomed to slowing his pace down to match others, so he doesn't immediately take large strides to get where she is intending. He's not a moron, so he knows slow is better in this case- both so this strangely helpful white blur can keep up and so that he doesn't bump his knees into the upcoming bench. ]

Tell me when I'm about a foot in front of it.

[ His tone sounds bossy somehow, even though he's listening to her. ]
schmisse: (✧ outside)

[personal profile] schmisse 2019-06-18 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's not at all bossy, so Midorima's "demand" isn't really met with judgment or question or whatever else. She does at least follow him, staying by his side, in case he topples over and hits his face on wood.

A normal person would probably just hold onto Midorima's wrist and guide him to the bench, but Weiss is not the kind of person who would do that. Even such a thing is already intimate for her. (Were the Cordis moon out, though... That would be a different thing.) ]

Okay, stop and turn around. You're about to hit it, so you should just sit down.
