▶ Fox and Friends
Moon Iris; Lunar Scientia, Lunatia | top

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I think grocery store sushi was a good idea? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff gives you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel. Destination: Prismatica.

a.) An envoy of Prismals with fox-like traits is currently visiting Prismatica to meet with the Queen. Their kind was so awed by tales of the Moonblessed that they have gathered to greet all of them with a ritual dance of their people. They also offer to teach the Moonblessed an amazing trick — with a wink!

Flowing robes follow their delicate bodies as they perform a passionate series of steps and acrobatics with their paper fans. Early in the performance, they peek above their open fans and wink at their audience. At that moment, your limbs are suddenly enchanted with exceptional grace. Couldn’t put your leg behind your head before? Had trouble doing a split? Well, now you can perform these flexible feats and more. The fox Prismals will be inviting the Moonblessed to join them so they can attempt to feel their invigorating chroma against their bodies.

b.) The dexterity spell the fox Prismals cast is one of many a fox has in their repertoire of charms and curses. It can be very useful for making a quick escape! While the older fox Prismals teach this spell to the interested Moonblessed (read: teach them how to wink and use chroma at the same time), you can explore the city with the younger fox Prismals.

A delicious drink called bubbly tea is very popular among teenagers in Lunatia right now! Unfortunately, defective apricot pearls inside may cause you to float a few feet in the air. This effect goes away as soon as the affected pass the pearls at a bathroom, but getting there will be an adventure. Maybe you Moonblessed have abilities that can get rid of the effect? The fox Prismals don’t have a spell to cure this...

Help the affected young fox Prismals get to a bathroom and they will teach you another spell: simply place a finger over your lips, and no one else but your friends can listen in on your secret conversations!

▶ Crab ‘n Go Menu

Several tents decorated with streamers, shells, and pearls have been set up along the shorelines of Level 2. A giant clam mascot tells you that hey, hey, hey! There’s a beach festival happening tonight! It will be full of fun activities, and anybody who is anybody will be there. The Prismals involved are inviting people all around Levels 1 and 2. Bathing suits will be provided to all participating festival-goers. What are they celebrating? Who knows. Maybe Prismals just want to have a good time! Hey, hey, hey!

a.) One of Lunatia’s favorite beach party games is “Find the King Crab.” King crabs have a golden belly and are hidden among other disgruntled crabs. Protip: king crabs are often found in the center of large clusters of crabs. Be careful while flipping them; they are very eager to clip anything that comes near their nest! Be the first to find a king crab and claim the grand prize —- an all-you-can-eat buffet for four at a King Crab Sandcastle, a high-end seaside seafood restaurant. You now get to exact vengeance on these crabs by eating as many as you please.

b.) There’s an educational tent promoting the soothing pastime of conch listening. Glossy conchs of various shapes and sizes can be found on the tables. Some special ones are said to link to one’s innermost self. Special conchs are encrusted with tiny glistening gems, making them easy to spot in the sunlight. Pressing them to your ear will draw forth the sound of someone’s voice — be it yours or someone familiar. Depending on the listener’s mood, the sound of the voice will range from peaceful singing to blood-curdling screams.

c.) Another tent is dedicated to scuba diving. You can either rent out a special set of nodes which are worn on either side of your neck to replicate the function of gills, allowing you to breathe safely beneath the water, or traditional scuba diving gear since some Prismals like the challenge! Explore Lunatia’s vast undersea world and bear witness to its wonders, such as its crystalline corals and tropical fish, a myriad of species unique to Prismatica. A few of these species are the rainbow seahorses carrying newborns in their pouches and greater clownfishes that can’t seem to find their offspring. Venture further under and you will eventually find aquatic bears with scaled bodies that seem to be very territorial over their habitat and hoard of delicious (?) sea honey. As they often say, don’t poke the bear…

As the festival winds down, some Prismals can be seen dancing and eating by the campfire. Everyone is welcome to relax and watch a nice fireworks show by the pier while a local band known as the Briny Seamen plays a compilation of their greatest hits. Expect an uncomfortable amount of marimba solos!



▶ Some Assembly Required
LEVEL 2, LUNATIA | top

Once you’ve been all crabbed out for the day, you can finally settle in your new home in Level 2:

a.) Find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

b.) All Moonblessed new and old receive a frazzled email from their favorite Moon Knight, Fahrouk. He was involved in Obscuria’s Glow affair, resulting in both him and his daughter becoming new unofficial Moonblessed Community Ambassadors.

I am writing to let you know there is a sale at KRABBA, Lunatia’s most popular flat-packed furniture store. All crab-themed decors are 50% off!

Here is a picture of my daughter with her new KRABBA shelf. Now we can display our Moonblessed bromides with joy and pride! We had so much fun putting it together and hope you do too.

True enough, attached is a picture of him and his daughter standing in front of some newly assembled furniture as well as a map to the KRABBA store in Level 2.

Also true is the sale at KRABBA! The prices are affordable, but the crab-themed items are especially cheap and ready to brighten anyone’s day. Among the notable items in stock are a sea shell-shaped loveseat called Havsskal, a foamy green kitchen table named Tång, and a bed named Havsbotten that somehow resembles the sandy sea floor. Please do not lie down on the beds! The staff have been made to wear crab-themed outfits and will not hesitate to use those claws to get people in line.

After paying at the cashier for your items, feel free to order some of KRABBA’s signature meat (?) balls with Moonberry sauce. You deserve a break!

[Arriving was strange. Everything was strange, and Hana had questions most of which were answered with nonsense and jabber, but it was educational. She was mildly aggressive as she informed them she had to return home, but not aggressive enough to get in trouble or restrained.]

[Instead they shuttled her somewhere else and her world felt turned up on end suddenly. Lunatia. A place she had never heard of before. Fox like people tried to get her to dance, but she passed on that.]

Another time, yeah? [She said and slipped away. It was the Bubbly Tea that gave her the problems. She was growing tired of saying no and she was thirsty. So now she floated, bunny ears high above her head, a tail on her butt, ripped through her MEKA suit. She floated, a few feet above the ground, arms crossed and legs crossed, frowning deeply.]

'ey. You. My fox friend ran away. Can you help me get down?

{▶ CRAB ‘N GO MENU}
[Beach party? Well, if she was going to be stuck here for a while she might as well enjoy herself, right? A swim suit was provided for her in proper colors and she roved around the party, looking at the things to do. A drink in hand (soda) she wandered, checking out people.]

A game! [And that was all it took for her to sign up to try and grab a King Crab for the chance to eat all she could eat crabs. Sure, junk food would have been fine, but she wasn't going to pass up on a smorgasbord of crab, especially if it meant she was the best at this game. Coming in first was the challenge here.]

[But she wasn't stupid. She might need an alliance.]

[Looking at the person in the crab mess with her she called to them] Psst. Want to make a deal? [she grinned a lopsided grin at the person.]

[She was also, later, at the ocean, with a thing around her neck to offer her breathing like gills. She didn't really trust that at first, but wanted to test it out.]

Can you believe this thing? Do you think it will really make us breath under water? [She asked someone near by, just conversationally. She was hip high in the water, no scuba gear, and ready to test it. If it didn't work, she'd get real gear, because she was going to go under.]

Boom shakalaka! Let's do this!

[Hana will wander around to explore, so leave me something! Still feeling out her voice, but I thought this would be a great way to jump in and see.]

[Whatever festival, celebration, or event is about to begin—Hanzo wants no part in it. He decides to run his errands early as to not have to encounter any of them and hopefully avoid being roped into any magical trickery on the way.

He passes by the floating rabbit girl and shakes his head. No. Not today Satan.]

I am sure you can find assistance elsewhere. Good day. [Genji almost certainly would have made Hanzo turn right back around to help the girl, but he wasn’t there to insist Hanzo at least try to be a decent human being.

...But he does remember being tricked into eating Prisma food and having to pay the price. So he sighs, turns back, and tries to draw her downward by the ankle.]

I would suggest you make better friends. And do not eat unusual food from these people.

[Bing, bing, bing, Hanzo has activated Good Samaritan Mode. It was super effective.]

[She was frowning at his first comment and how he was walking away. Hurmph! Thanks a lot. Her arms tightened and she felt herself lift another inch higher, only to feel something grab her ankle and pull her down.]

Ah, score! My Hero! [She said, being lowered and reaching a hand out to grab hold of his arm. Sorry mystery guy, she wants something to ground herself, and you are now it.] Thank you!

I knew better than to drink it, but I was thirsty and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

[Hero? She is very clearly mistaken but he has her on his arm before he can move off and on his way. Unfortunately she doesn’t stay grounded when he releases her so while it isn’t ideal he doesn’t blame her for hanging on.]

I suppose you must be new. If the locals ever seem very pushy to get to to try something, you should probably not do it.

[At least this place doesn’t cause things that last very long. So sooner or later she’ll stop floating. In the meanwhile he still intends to run his errands so the rabbit girl will have to tag along.]

Are you still thirsty? Or hungry? [He’s doing grocery shopping but buying her a snack or drink won’t be more of a hassle than having to keep her from floating off. It’s all equally irritating.]

[Hero. Yes. As in the old expression, My Hero, where she's just pleased to have the help. Don't read much into it, Stranger with great hair. And it's good he doesn't blame her for hanging on, because her hands are wrapped around that strong arm and she's not letting go just yet.]

I am new! I suppose that was a rookie mistake. Thanks for the pro tip!

[She flipped her head and her long ears fell backwards, laying down in her hair. How annoying was it to really have these things? Very. When he mentioned food though, she grinned.]

I could eat. So long as you know of food that wont make me turn blue or something.

[It hardly even makes sense to waste time grumbling and fussing about the sudden company that he didn't ask for, so he saves his crabby middle aged man complaints for later.]

I do not know that I would call myself a pro, but whatever floats your boat.

[And immediately after the unintentional pun leaves his lips he frowns at himself in deep disappointment. His sense of humor isn't this bad, it's just not his best day. Food might help.]

You prefer floating to blue skin? You are unusual.

[Just as they near the grocery shop, Hanzo decides it's a dangerous place for a floating rabbit girl and instead opts for the quieter restaurant just next door.]

[You are a good man, stranger. She doesn't mind grumps either, so it's all good.]

You've dealt with them before. That's clearly more pro than I am. [and she was chuckling, holding onto his arm and grinning at the pun.] My boat is floating. I definitely need to fix this.

[She blinked, watching as they walked past the store and to a restaurant. Well okay! She flipped her ears again, behind her head, and gave him a grin.]

Floating is almost fun, so long as there is a way to move. Blue skin would be okay, but what can you do with it?

[He would argue with her on that tooth and nail, but if she doesn't mind his crabby attitude he guesses he doesn't care if she sticks around. At least until she can stand up on her own feet.]

Your safest bet is to wait it out. Preferably somewhere with a low ceiling...like here.

[Almost fun? Hanzo nearly laughs because when he came across her, the expression hadn't been one of joy.]

Disguise yourself and ambush your enemies? [His near-laughter fades to a more serious tone as he suggests it, carefully putting her in one side of the booth and getting in at the other. He gestures for her to use her legs to keep from floating off.]

That's a smart idea. [She said of the low ceilings, and she held onto his arm and shoulder, floating along behind him like a cape in the wind. The touch should also generate some Chroma, if she had this right, so she could help pay for lunch.]

[She was frustrated before, stuck in one area and couldn't kick off to go anywhere else. So this was a positive. Getting kited around like this.]

If I'm still floating with that blue skin, I could blend in with the sky. [She said with a chuckle, taking hold of the edge of the table and tucking her legs under it. There was a leg under the table that she hooked a leg to. Her bottom did not touch the seat, but to anyone looking, a tall young woman sat in the booth with the man.]

[At a surface level, it's a complete mismatch; birds of prey often feast on rabbits after all, and Tokoyami's head certainly resembles that of such a bird. Yet in spite of that he reacts almost immediately by standing on his toes, offering his hand for her to take should she choose to.

What kind of hero (hero-in-training, technically) would he be if he ignored someone in need, after all?]

Take hold. What is your destination?

[When she called out to him she hadn't really looked at him until now. As he offered a hand she smiled none the less. Why, he looked like a bird! How interesting. Not that she could say much? She some how sprouted ears and a tail.]

[Still, she indeed took the hand, finding herself stretching out a bit and still floating in the air, but grounding herself in the hold.]

My Hero! I've been floating here for a bit now. I uh, I don't have a destination. I just want down.

[It isn't all too hard to pull her down to something closer to ground level - he might not be the strongest in his class physically but he's been working out! He's getting there!

He's a bit surprised that she wasn't actually going anywhere before she found herself skybound, but then again people take walks for the sake of walking all the time. It's not like he hasn't had his own moments of thoughtful wandering, himself.]

It was the tea, right? I was similarly afflicted earlier.

[It helps that she's pretty small anyhow. She felt light weight too.]

[She had simply been exploring, so her destination was anywhere. She found the tea and... well, now this. Tricky foxes.]

Yes! I got it from a Fox fellow I was talking to. I was exploring this place, but it's very hard to do when you can't reach the ground, or anything to push off from.

Thank you for the hand. [And she did try to stretch for the ground, frowning as she couldn't reach.] If you don't mind my asking, what did you do to stop this?

[He can see she's annoyed that her feet can't touch the ground; it's why he reaches up to put his other hand on her shoulder, trying to urge her body lower so she can at least feel the ground under her feet. She'll... probably float again the moment he lets go, but at least she can enjoy it for a moment.]

Ah... that's...

[There's... really no delicate way to say this, is there? Can he make this sound elegant?]

Once you are... rid of the tea, you will be rid of its misfortune.

[The moment he helped her get her feet on the ground, she sighed, much better. She knew it wouldn't last long. She could feel her body pushing away from the ground, but still. For a moment, it was grounding. Literally.]

Rid of it? [she started, and then it hit her, and she laughed.] Oh! Well, I guess D.va has a location now.

I know it's a lot to ask, but do you think you could float me in the direction of the nearest restroom? Because this can't go on all day. I have exploring to do.

[He's glad she caught onto his meaning quickly; if he had to be blunt it would be a little embarrassing, to be honest. Normally he's fine with being direct and to-the-point, but there are exceptions to every rule.

He offers a short nod at her request, looking about for a moment.]

It isn't a lot to ask at all. I'm not certain where the nearest public facility is, but if you're not against moving at higher speeds then I can quicken the search.

[She was sharp most of the time, and he made it clear enough to what he meant that she understood. It was a little embarrassing, but she wasn't the most modest either, so it didn't bother her.]

[She did, however, word things politely, so not to be too rude about it all.]

I'm completely down for going at higher speeds. [She said with a grin. Reaching her other hand for his shoulder, she let her feet float off the ground again and she took hold.]

Scuba Beach

[When in Rome, right? Scout looks over at the (C U T E!!) young woman maybe 20 feet away and shrugs.]

I mean, the worst thing that could happen is we just die, right?

[The ocean's lapping at his god-awful swim trunks, the sun is shining, there's a delicious tropical breeze in the air and he's not being shot at by ten million blood-sucking robots. Literally nothing could ruin this day.]

[That is basically her motto right now. When in Rome...]

[She's just in a cute swim suit and not the over the top scuba gear, but that might have been nice. Still, there should be something freeing with this breathing apparatus and simple bikini.]

[She waided out till it was belly high and grinned at him.]

I'd like to think we're both smart enough to come up for air if it doesn't work. I've got plus one to life. No death today!

[she winked at him and pulled the device on properly, wiggling it in place.] Come on. Let's test this out!

That's definitely the plan; no dying!

[Honestly this is the best interaction he's had with a woman all day. Granted, it's also the least amount of words he's spoken to one, and I'm not saying those two things are related

except that I completely and totally am.

The goggles on his forehead get pulled down over his eyes with a grin. He adjusts the breather and gives a thumbs up.]

Ready when you are!

That's a plan I can get behind. [she said with a cheerful but determined sound. She too pulled her goggles down and wandered out a bit farther, up to her chest, before giving a thumbs up.]

D.va, ready and waiting. [She said of herself, before riding with a wave a moment then ducking under it, swimming down a short distance. If she can still stand, it isn't at all that deep, but she wanted to test it out first.]

[With a breath from the device, she gave the other a thumbs up! This was cool.]

[Scout takes a moment to appreciate the view, so to speak, the water lapping at his legs for a moment longer. He takes a deep breath and holds it out of habit before making a standing dive into the waves, kicking up sand behind him with a lot of splashing.

He's not taking that much of a precaution, honestly. Par for the course with him. He darts ahead, bubbles trailing behind as he heads toward the weird landscape of the reef ahead.]

[It's a good view, especially in this bikini. She would have been more comfortable in a full suit, like her MEKA suit, but this was honestly freeing.]

She saw him dart past and her eyes showed that she was laughing silently, moving now to almost rabbit kick off the sand below and dart off after him, towards the reef.]

[It was much more fun to do this with someone else, even a stranger, than on her own.]

[dashhole]

[It is a fantastic view, to be sure. And as much as he'd love to keep the tiny bikini in view, he just can't. He's gotta get out ahead like it's a race. Little glittery fish dart well out away from them in a prey's panic.

Everything under the water is so clear, the sound around them is amplified and aside from a drift of sand now and then, the can see not only all the way to the bottom but pretty far out onto the coastal shelf. He flips over--not the cleanest move, but it gets the job done--so he can see her follow. She gets two thumbs up and a smile.

This is, in fact, pretty great.]

[If it was a race he wanted, she would give it to him, though right now she was just having fun. Dodging around small fish and swimming past sharp coral. She wanted to laugh as she watched him, tossing him two thumbs back and almost snickering, bubbles leaving her mouth as she did.]

[This was awesome.]

[She swam forward and slowed as a small shark approached. One of the cute tiny ones, though it looked weird. No doubt just a difference of planets. Her hand reached out to pet it, and she smiled from ear to ear for a moment. Giving her swim partner a look like 'look at this!']
