Character: Joan Holloway/Harris
Canon: Mad Men
This is an extreme long shot, might not get to try until next month even BUT!! Coming in from left of field is my yen to play a hyper-competent sixties bombshell who is wrestling with the contradictions of her nature versus her expectations. Joan took a job as a secretary at an advertising agency thinking the goal was to find a husband, get married, and get out in the suburbs ASAP. An image she clings to even as the reality sets in: without work she's deeply unhappy, the man she married only lets her down, and perhaps she's not the person she groomed herself to be after all. She's a sharp wit, keeps meticulous control of her personal and work life, suffers no fools and is secretly more sensitive than she lets on. She can end your life with a tongue lashing you never saw coming.

I think it would be super cool to put her in an ultra liberated setting like this, with all of its fantasy trappings and ridiculousness. I think it would be a good clash for her, as well as open some really interesting conversations between vastly different characters. Her character is squarely set in reality so contending with it all would open some great questions for her. She's mid-metamorphasis in the show so it would be cool to push that even further here.
