You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

▶ Keep all Hands and Feet inside the Burning Vehicle at all Times
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Outer Space | top

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I mix tequila with xanax last night? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the moons and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as Prismal locals. The next destination: Prismatica.

A. After settling into the ship and selecting the current in-flight movie, Back Door Slugs 9, you and those around you may eventually feel a bit of turbulence during the movie’s highly anticipated climax. Did anyone notice it, or is everyone too focused on the hot characters?

At first, it’s a small jitter that’s easy to miss or brush off. But as the transport vessel travels on, the shaking progressively escalates to erratic tremors strong enough to cause severe nausea. A minute later, a voice over the speaker announces the ship will have to make an emergency landing, citing technical difficulties.

Sparks can be seen overhead as more ship parts malfunction. This is a good time to hold your neighbor’s hand, say your last goodbyes, and apologize for that horrible thing you did in the sixth grade. Grip your seat with the might of every god you can think of.

B. Another minute later, a follow-up announcement states that external entities have breached the transport vessel. Everyone is warned to be careful and watch out for each other. Small fires will have to be put out before they worsen with either magic or emergency equipment onboard such as extinguishers. In-flight robotic attendants will be scuttling around to perform immediate repairs.

Eventually, an entire power panel bursts, and prismatic jellyfish unnaturally spill out. The jellyfish will try to latch and suction onto any technological devices close by such as the television screens on the seats or communicators and will show preference to Iris Moonblessed over the rest. Be ready to help and pull numerous jellyfish off both the faces of Moonblessed and Prismals!

▶ Jaws IV: Jaws Harder
Planet Prismatica, Outer Lunatia | top

The emergency landing successfully completes and the transport vessel will safely land on top of a gorgeous lake filled with tiny glaciers floating by. When reached out and touched, you’ll find out that the “glaciers” are surprisingly cool crystals and not ice.

The ship will be left hovering idly on the water surface while passengers are ferried to solid ground using portable emergency boats. However, civilization is still a distance away.

A. You’ve probably heard of flying sharks from a veteran Moonblessed. But how about sea lions? These aquatic lions are born with scaly skin and gills outside of their crystallized manes. Unfortunately, they haven’t tasted fresh meat in quite some time. If there are any injured onboard or near your boat, the chances of the sea lions detecting people will be higher as they are drawn to the scent of blood. Growling hungrily, they will be quick to latch onto the boats, biting the edges, and trying to knock everyone overboard for dinner.

After surviving through so far, the Prismals guide everyone to a nearby encampment run by humanoid rabbits. They are tall, built, and have a habit of mentioning their virility an awkward amount of times. They are also generous and will share their game meat and fresh crops while allowing everyone to rest for the night at the only inn in their village.

B. There is no running water all the way out here, so if anyone wants a bath, they’ll have to do it traditionally. The village protects a natural spring, which is a good place to bathe away the sea water. Around the spring, the rabbit folk’s friends — little scintilla chinchillas — will shock away any predators that dare to approach their sanctuary! Be at ease and feel free to offer your friends shampoo massages.

The next day, the rabbits can be seen hacking away at some of the wilder-looking plants for an easier pathway. If you wake up early enough, you can ask some of them for a tour of the beautiful greenery. They mention that it’s thanks to the Moonblessed that their crops have been doing so well lately — the result of all the chroma influx. The rest of the journey to the city will be smooth sailing.

Level 2, City of Lunatia | top

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A. Find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B. A new high-end boutique, Prissy Polyp, has opened in Level 2. As compensation for what happened, both Moonblessed and Prismals that were affected in yesterday’s flight will receive 50% off their total purchase. Those unaffected will receive 30% discount coupons as a promotional gift. All are encouraged to visit with their friends or special someone, try on some things together, enjoy each other in the fitting rooms, and deal with the loud, ear-blistering background pop music.

Their clothing collections are characterized by bright iridescent designs, some features such as design patterns may glow ethereally in the dark. One of their signature dresses features a one piece (also available on their trench coats) that can amplify the appearance of one’s decolletage, gluteal muscles, and/or bulge with the press of a neon button. Another item among their collection is the maiden sweater: a sleek, backless sweater that shocks those who attempt unwanted touches. Others include skin-tight leggings (also available on their shorts or pants) which produce pleasant and relaxing vibrations on all lower extremities and fashionable polyp-shaped hats for all kinds of people. It’s a huge shop, you never know what else to find in there.

1 - Jaws - Playing Hero
I can't believe we came all this way just to be eaten by a literal sea lion.

[Ranpo is pretty much Done™ at this point. He sounds almost bored with the prospect of being eaten alive, leaning against the side of the boat even as a hungry sea lion tries to latch onto the edge.]

[He scans the crew aboard the little emergency boat and points to someone seemingly at random -- but it's not random at all, actually. Through whatever subtle or not-so-subtle tells (or there may not be any at all, actually), he's deduced the one he's pointing at is presently the most capable fighter on the boat. It's a Thing he can do, don't worry about it.]

You can take care of this thing, right? If it bumps this boat one more time, it'll knock someone off.

[He sounds pretty sure about that, too.]


2 - Free Real Estate
Hey, could you hold my hand for a bit? I'm short a few chroma for dinner.

[He reaches out to whoever happens to be around while standing outside a restaurant, holding out his hand for them to take. This is how it works, right? Of course, who knows how long they'll have to hold hands to make enough for dinner...]


3 - Prissy Polyp - Kink Shaming
Don't they have any normal clothes here...

[Ranpo mutters to himself as he browses the racks of clothing, knowing he needs new ones after how beat up his clothes got coming here. He picks up a pair of leggings -- only for them to start vibrating in his hands.]

[And like the adult he is, he throws them on the floor, right in front of someone else.]

That's disgusting!!

Oh - of course.

[Atsushi doesn't know this person who's asking to moonlace with him, but it's hardly much to ask, especially if it means the stranger will get to eat. He takes Ranpo's hand in his, lacing their fingers together.]

Did you just arrive?

[It can be difficult getting started generating Chroma, especially if you don't know anyone from home, like Atsushi doesn't. ...Well, he's still a little grateful some people from home aren't here. A rougher start is worth not having to deal with Ranpo for a while.]

[It's a little weird having to hold hands with a stranger like this, but after waking up in desert, getting attacked by space jellyfish, surviving a space ship crash, and nearly being eaten by a sea lion-- this is probably the least shitty part of this world.]

I guess it's pretty obvious, right? I'd hope that most people wouldn't have to panhandle handshakes everyday to get a decent meal. But it sure beats looking for a part-time job!

[God, imagine having to actually work for living?? Perish the thought.]

It's just... most of the clothing on sale today is... Hm. 50% off for 50% off?? Someone else seems to be having a problem too, and at first Yosano laughs before realizing she recognizes that yelp and as she turns around--]

Ranpo!? [HELLO??] It's-- It's about time you showed up!

[His eyes go wide as looks over at the familiar face in front of him -- the first he's seen in quite a while. And maybe under normal circumstances, his expression wouldn't give away quite so much. He's been through a lot these past few days, and he shows it -- he hasn't had a chance to get new clothes until now, so his current ones still show the hallmarks of his journey to get here, looking a little hobo-like with some odd stains here and there and what appears to be a bite?? Taken out of his coat??]

[But none of that matters now--]

It's about time I showed up!? It's about time you found me! You're all slacking in your duties as detectives!

[POINTS ACCUSINGLY-- but there's no actual bite to his words. Just a tantrum being thrown by someone who's clearly had a bad day or two.]

[Yosano covers her mouth to hide her smile-- she's relieved, honestly, and she doesn't mind the little tantrum thrown her way as she steps up to him, briefly throwing her arms around him to pull him in.

Atsushi was here, and so was Dazai, but it's not the same as being able to talk to Ranpo. So forgive her a momentarily lapse into sentimentality.] Right, right. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to leave you alone.

[He must have been worried, even if he probably won't admit that or anything--he doesn't really need to. Yosano knows him well enough to guess.

She lets him go but doesn't fully step away, leaving one hand on Ranpo's shoulder. Partly because even this minor amount of moonlacing feels nice and can generate chroma, but also so she can keep acknowledging that he's really there.]

What happened to you? You look terrible.

[Perhaps what speaks the most about Ranpo's mental state is that he doesn't fully let go after she hugs him, clinging to the sleeve of her shirt almost like a child worried their parent might leave them behind. But he's trying to be subtle here, so be a bro and don't call him out on it okay.]

...I guess I can forgive you this time.

Mm. But I don't even know where to start with a question like that... first I wake up in a desert and almost starved to death because I didn't want to eat bugs. Then our space ship was overrun by jellyfish and crashed into a lake. And then I almost got eaten by a sea lion.

Is that par for the course here? Because so far, this place sucks.

[Yosano won't draw attention to it, no worries there. She doesn't particularly want the contact to end either, but if she points it out he'll get too embarrassed to keep it up.} Thank you for your generosity. [How kind of him to forgive her of all the things that aren't ehr fault to begin with.

She listens, eyebrows raised in surprise] Well...It's a lot more eventful than my arrival was. [She had a pretty smooth time, all things considered. She eyes him critically, trying to see if he's injured just from looking.]

It can get pretty...lively. We were kidnapped by fox people the other month. [her expression sours and she reaches up to touch at her hairpin as if to reassure herself it's still there. They'd stolen it from her and there had sure been hell to pay for that.]

But generally it's not so bad. It's pretty easy to get all the food you could ever want to try. [Which should cheer him up, a lil bit at least, right??]

[Atsushi had just been thinking about dinner, actually. He was hungry, and the temptation to eat out before he heads back to the apartment was a strong one. But he could just as easily cook something though, and that would probably be--

A voice requesting help interrupts his thoughts, and he quickly turns to face them with a smile, holding out a hand before he even gets a glance at who it is.]

Oh, sure thi-- Ranpo-san?!

Oh my god by their stomachs combined they'll put the restaurant out of business

Ah, Atsushi-kun! I thought that hair of yours looked familiar.

[How did he even fail to recognize him?? It's a mystery.]

[But for his part, Ranpo still looks like a bit of a mess. He's hungry, and hasn't really had the time to look into housing or getting a new change of clothes after the ordeal that was his arrival. So he looks a bit like a hobo right now, with an ominous bite taken out of his coat.]

You've probably been here a while, right? I'm starving! You should just treat me this time!

Rest in pieces, poor restaurant. At least Atsushi has the Chroma to cover the bill

[Ranpo please, how long have they worked together now? Not that Atsushi had been paying attention enough to place that it was his voice speaking before offering his hand.

He's very obviously taking in Ranpo's appearance with a long, aghast glance. Roughed up and...

Was that a bite? What did he run into to get that?]

Did you just arrive from one of the moons? Why are you-- What happened?

[Sorry Ranpo, he's stuck on the 'you look like you hiked through wilderness with a stick fighting off bears'.]

O-Oh, right! Of course I'll treat you! If you just arrived, you won't have much Chroma, so--

Come on, we can talk about it over food-- I haven't eaten all day!

[Which is why he is definitely whinier than usual, grabbing Atsushi by the sleeve to pull him into the restaurant -- one he specifically chose because they serve milkshakes, and he's gonna drink about ten after that experience.]

I got here a few days ago, but it took a while to get to the city after our ship crashed. I haven't even had a chance to get new clothes yet.

[Zeno had helped a little but he was trying to not alarm everyone on the boat to his abilities but then he seems to be called out. With a laugh he stands up and slaps his pants off a little as he watches the lions try to latch on.]

Make sure the people are okay then~!

[There was a carefree nature to him as he punches one of the lions noses. As it cries out it bites into his arm and Zeno winces as he starts to punch the creature harder. It hurts like hell and he's bleeding as it takes a chunk and falls back. Well this was going to be as usual for him wasn't it.]

[Okay, he could tell the guy was a fighter, but he didn't expect the lion to take a chunk of his arm off. The fact that he seems remarkably chill about it and continuing to fight it is a good sign -- is he like Yosano then?]

[Perhaps it's that thought that actually gets Ranpo up and wanting to help, even if there's only so much he can do. He throws off his coat and comes over, throwing it over at the sea lions head. The sea lion bites into it, seemingly mistaking it for food -- and giving Zeno a chance to land another hit without being bitten for the moment.]

[Fighting was something he was good at but it takes a certain amount of injury for him to actually be of use. So as the blood runs down his arm he looks a little in pain but overall pretty numb to it too.

With the chance of the coat covering the creatures face he starts to punch at it's face as it lets out a loud scream and falls backwards with the coat into the water. That seems to do the trick as it struggles with the fabric stuck in it's mouth.]

Good job! [Chuckling he holds his arm the large chunk...somehow seeming to get smaller as he looks over the others.]

[THERE IT GO maybe it'll let go and he can fish it out of the water later. But with that dealt with, he sits back down on the boat, looking over at Zeno's wound.]

Are you going to be all right? Or do we actually need to find medical assistance?

[It's a deliberate question -- asking if he'll just heal up all the way without actually asking.]

[Honestly, at this point he's more surprised by the vibrating leggings than he is by the appearance of yet another person from home, which probably says something about the state of affairs in this city lately. Picking up the leggings by one leg, Dazai inspects them curiously, finally finding a button to make the buzzing stop.]

Hmm, that seems like an inconvenient place to put the off switch...

[Likewise, if Ranpo is shocked at all to see Dazai here, he's not showing it. After the trials he went through just to get here, he's already Done™ with just about everything this place has to offer.]

The bigger question is why they have an on switch at all! Who would actually wear these? Let alone, outside!
