You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I mix tequila with xanax last night? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.
While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the moons and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as Prismal locals. The next destination: Prismatica.
Sparks can be seen overhead as more ship parts malfunction. This is a good time to hold your neighbor’s hand, say your last goodbyes, and apologize for that horrible thing you did in the sixth grade. Grip your seat with the might of every god you can think of.
▶ Jaws IV: Jaws Harder
Planet Prismatica, Outer Lunatia | top
The emergency landing successfully completes and the transport vessel will safely land on top of a gorgeous lake filled with tiny glaciers floating by. When reached out and touched, you’ll find out that the “glaciers” are surprisingly cool crystals and not ice.
The ship will be left hovering idly on the water surface while passengers are ferried to solid ground using portable emergency boats. However, civilization is still a distance away.
After surviving through so far, the Prismals guide everyone to a nearby encampment run by humanoid rabbits. They are tall, built, and have a habit of mentioning their virility an awkward amount of times. They are also generous and will share their game meat and fresh crops while allowing everyone to rest for the night at the only inn in their village.
The next day, the rabbits can be seen hacking away at some of the wilder-looking plants for an easier pathway. If you wake up early enough, you can ask some of them for a tour of the beautiful greenery. They mention that it’s thanks to the Moonblessed that their crops have been doing so well lately — the result of all the chroma influx. The rest of the journey to the city will be smooth sailing.

A. After settling into the ship and selecting the current in-flight movie, Back Door Slugs 9, you and those around you may eventually feel a bit of turbulence during the movie’s highly anticipated climax. Did anyone notice it, or is everyone too focused on the hot characters?
At first, it’s a small jitter that’s easy to miss or brush off. But as the transport vessel travels on, the shaking progressively escalates to erratic tremors strong enough to cause severe nausea. A minute later, a voice over the speaker announces the ship will have to make an emergency landing, citing technical difficulties.
Sparks can be seen overhead as more ship parts malfunction. This is a good time to hold your neighbor’s hand, say your last goodbyes, and apologize for that horrible thing you did in the sixth grade. Grip your seat with the might of every god you can think of.
B. Another minute later, a follow-up announcement states that external entities have breached the transport vessel. Everyone is warned to be careful and watch out for each other. Small fires will have to be put out before they worsen with either magic or emergency equipment onboard such as extinguishers. In-flight robotic attendants will be scuttling around to perform immediate repairs.
Eventually, an entire power panel bursts, and prismatic jellyfish unnaturally spill out. The jellyfish will try to latch and suction onto any technological devices close by such as the television screens on the seats or communicators and will show preference to Iris Moonblessed over the rest. Be ready to help and pull numerous jellyfish off both the faces of Moonblessed and Prismals!

A. You’ve probably heard of flying sharks from a veteran Moonblessed. But how about sea lions? These aquatic lions are born with scaly skin and gills outside of their crystallized manes. Unfortunately, they haven’t tasted fresh meat in quite some time. If there are any injured onboard or near your boat, the chances of the sea lions detecting people will be higher as they are drawn to the scent of blood. Growling hungrily, they will be quick to latch onto the boats, biting the edges, and trying to knock everyone overboard for dinner.
After surviving through so far, the Prismals guide everyone to a nearby encampment run by humanoid rabbits. The village protects a natural spring, which is a good place to bathe away the sea water. Around the spring, the rabbit folk’s friends — little scintilla chinchillas — will shock away any predators that dare to approach their sanctuary! Be at ease and feel free to offer your friends shampoo massages.
The next day, the rabbits can be seen hacking away at some of the wilder-looking plants for an easier pathway. If you wake up early enough, you can ask some of them for a tour of the beautiful greenery. Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A. Find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.
B. A new high-end boutique, Prissy Polyp, has opened in Level 2. As compensation for what happened, both Moonblessed and Prismals that were affected in yesterday’s flight will receive 50% off their total purchase. Those unaffected will receive 30% discount coupons as a promotional gift. All are encouraged to visit with their friends or special someone, try on some things together,enjoy each other in the fitting rooms, and deal with the loud, ear-blistering background pop music.
Their clothing collections are characterized by bright iridescent designs, some features such as design patterns may glow ethereally in the dark. One of their signature dresses features a one piece (also available on their trench coats) that can amplify the appearance of one’s decolletage, gluteal muscles, and/or bulge with the press of a neon button. Another item among their collection is the maiden sweater: a sleek, backless sweater that shocks those who attempt unwanted touches. Others include skin-tight leggings (also available on their shorts or pants) which produce pleasant and relaxing vibrations on all lower extremities and fashionable polyp-shaped hats for all kinds of people. It’s a huge shop, you never know what else to find in there.

[The gods he's sure...but no humans. Stories and mythology are important in his world as well. Even if he falls into one of those stories that became a legend.]
Us? [He points at himself and starts to chuckle.] So we can become like animals? That sounds like fun. Maybe it will happen at some point!
[Zeno could understand that completely...but instead he was forced to watch everyone around him grow old and then die. He never got that chance. Even on her death bed his wife said they would be together in the heavens but that would never be. For a child he can only imagine how much more difficult it would be.
Laughing a little more light-hearted he feels the chroma and the warmth. Really it was amazing to him how this place could do something like that.
Eyes even bigger he gets closer at the mention of food.]
Really?? So just holdin hands and huggin is enough to make money? So just hold hands all the time basically?

[ Personally he doesn't mind that... though it would have been somewhat cool to turn into a wolf? Isn't that a good idea? (It's really not, Shino, wolves aren't cuddly creatures!)
Shino stays put, nodding his head: he did exactly that last month, and up until now, since he has to eat anyway, and eat... quite a bit, to be honest. ]
Yeah, basically! Hugs generate more chroma, so you could say they're even better, but hand holding works.
[ Again, he makes no move to hug Zeno... because they're in a public bath and that's Weird. ]

[The idea was cool but for Zeno he already knows the crazy that is attached to being a dragon warrior. His brothers all have different parts of a dragon...but animal ears or a tail would be pretty cute.]

Cats? Owls? Foxes? I think it's those three. The purple moon's the one coming up, and that's something like jellyfish and deer. I think there's a third animal, but I'm forgetting right now.
[ Yes, he's forgetting, and the ridiculous part is it's iris... rabbits. They're in a town under iris blessing (probably) and that's the association he forgets. ]
So it's supposed to be from the animals under the moon that influences you. Guess for me, there's a chance during Purple Moon? Nothing changed under Red or Blue Moons.
[ Here's his version while he's temporarily forgotten the name of the moons, and instead of agonising over it, just cals them by colours. ]

[ Keeping track of everything is such a headache... And he has no idea people can fully turn into animals. That's a whole other level of weird. Rabbit people, fox people? Strange enough, but further? No thanks! ]

[ This is his input on how the sky looks. Really, he should remember from last month, but life was all a bit... strange.

[ He nods, making a kind of affirmative sound... if they're still holding hands, he clutches his tighter for a moment. His greatest fear, really, and one he doesn't think he'd survive. What that means when he's immortal is another question altogether. ]

[A surprised look comes from the dragon when he feels the hand grow tighter. He then just smiles. It was going to be hard but there have been nice people so he can't complain too much. People here seemed to be genuine in their kindness.]

[ Take his pick, because Shino's not so choosy that he cares which of the above is met in what order. He wants to be with the people he loves, is his bottom line, and get back to them if they're not all conveniently going to ship over to where he is.
Hear that, local gods? Knock this off! He's been here just about a month all on his own, and he's never been without his family for that long before. Never.
His smile is a weak effort, and he sighs, because without a reason, he doesn't bother disguising how he feels. He's tired, and he misses them. Even Rio! And Genpachi!

Really he doesn't know if he should reveal a lot but...this guy seems to be having a go of things. Zeno rubs his neck before he moves to sit next to him. It was a little easier this way.

[It took a long time for him to accept being alone so if this guy has never been alone he feels for him...truly he does.]

See, it's nice when someone sees me as human.
[ Because it's one of his other fears, and opposite to what he so firmly states: that he's losing track of his humanity the longer he and Murasame are one, that someday, he might lose it entirely. Murasame wouldn't notice, and doesn't care; he's a demon, a god, something undefined and frighteningly powerful on their world. All he cares about in this moment is Shino, and all he loves is Shino. It's not a human love, and it has no real parameters like the loves Shino himself holds, but the curse and the fear and the truth is that one day that love is claimed to turn into hatred, just as deep, just as consuming, and that's when he'll die, consumed by the same demon who once loved him.
And not a moment before.
Shino, without thinking, leans his shoulder toward Zeno. Push him back off if you don't want him leaning into you, Zeno, but his question ends up being: ]

[He really wanted to know more but that could be a touchy subject and he understood that. Immortality was a strange thing but also terrifying. Humans want it but they don't think of all the meaning behind it.

I'm a dragon warrior...four of us drank the blood of the dragon gods and received powers. Mine is immortality, I can never die. If you stab me it hurts but it will heal...same if you cut my head off it will just reattach.

[ He's alive, bound to, and the sheath and wielder of a demon. Murasame is at least a beautiful cursed blade. Slash crow. Slash giant dog dragon demon.
He takes advantage of being allowed to lean by continuing to lean, studying his hands as they float at the surface of the water. He listens to Zeno, thinking of those horrible things and understanding what that's like, unfortunately. Minus the decapitation. What the hell?! ]
What a bothersome power. I mean, Murasame, the demon I took in, he makes me immortal too, but I can die... for a while. He'll bring me back, but the, er... there's a cost to that.
[ He settles on saying. It sounds much nicer than, "he needs raw materials to use, so this may mean that he's eaten a gigolo's son, and also, that sometimes I crave blood." ]
Healing's easier, for the most part. The pain's never fun.

[It was rare that he opens up about his powers because it didn't usually matter. He was old and can't die...it was sad but he's used to it. What he didn't expect was to hear about a demon.]
That sounds dangerous for sure, Shino...That must be a heavy burden.
[He can understand that burden in some ways but not the same. So he wouldn't tell him that they wee different but similar in ways.]
Pain is fine...it hurts more to feel others leave. [Without thinking he starts to trail off. Physical pain was bad but other things hurt much worse.]

The "If" hangs in the air, answered later on by the rest of what he says. THough he lifts a shoulder in a shrug at the idea of it being heavy. ]

[ So it's his responsibility, isn't it? He doesn't regret it, even with all the unanswered questions and the unasked ones that have followed. Not to mention the complications... ]
You... you have to feel them? When they go?
[ He lifts his head, turning to look at Zeno with wide, green eyes. Oh. Oh, that sounds worse. That sounds so much worse than the physical pain one bears under extreme duress.
You feel them going, and you remember them when they're gone. Is it as hollow in truth as it sounds to Shino at eighteen? He can't quite bring himself to ask. ]

As dragon brothers we can feel each others presence...so it makes sense we can feel it fade as well. Each time a new dragon is born though to carry on the bloodline.
[The first time hurt he cried even as he fought. He had lost everything his king, his brothers...everything.]
But Zeno is well over 2000 years old now...but it was hard to count. He was even married once.

[ Letting him live made it sound like it was a choice in a different way, when the truth was: he was dying. Murasame, when allowed in, saved him, and then their two lives became joined.
... Then again, he's confessing all this to a relative stranger, no matter what familiarities in ridiculous situations he could get a hold on. And this guy... he's so old! Old like that vampire guy! How do any of them stay sane?! ]
So it's kind of like an inherited thing...
[ Not that he can say anything beyond that, lacking context. Still. Two thousand years? How? How hasn't he lost it, or has he just rebuilt himself often enough? ]

[A demon taking a moment to bond without much choice...that was a hard one. Zeno was at least healthy and asked for this gift even if he didn't know what it meant.]
Yeah, it started with king Hiryuu and us for dragon warriors. When the king died everyone went to find villages, but I stayed behind.
[The princess and prince were still young and the people needed guidance...plus the others never knew about his powers or the full extent. He didn't want them to, he didn't want them to know he would never see them in the heavens.
The question about Kaya makes him smile a little more.]
Kaya was Zeno's wife, she was very kind but sick. She was the one that taught me about saying my name to remember!

[ Which at thirteen had been the only reason he needed in the world to accept a monster in. Besides, Murasame has been a mostly... mostly nice monster. Or at least relatively well behaved. ]
Kaya's a pretty name. And you never forgot her advice, either, see? [ A pause. THen, with a lower voice and a more introspective look on his face; ] I guess that's what the one guy meant, about remembering the people we love even when they're gone.
[ Which isn't given context, but as a conversation that'd happened between Immortals, the point to it had been: they might not be here, but you still being alive means their memory at least lives on. Shino still doesn't know if that's a tradeoff he can live with, watching everyone he loves grow old and die until he's the only one left. He doesn't think the dog warriors have any destined rebirth thing going on, so once they're all dead... he's alone. There isn't going to be anyone else, without him trying to make friends, and losing those ones too, lifetime after lifetime.
He flexes his toes, feeling their pruned nature and wrinkling his nose. ]
We're going to turn into water monsters if we stay in here too long.

[He can respect that. His wish when he took the dragons blood was to help make people happy in the world. Even in the beginnings he only wanted others to be happy.]
Hehe, she was very pretty. Kaya tried her best at everything she did, it was really cute. When I asked her to marry me she cried in surprise. [It was a happy memory she was so important to him. More than anything he would like to see her again...even if it was only once.]
That is probably right. It's good to remember them.
[Zeno had waited for the rebirth of king Hiryuu that was the thing that kept him going. So immortality was a long time without something to push towards.
Zeno grins and nods as he goes to stand.]
Heh, we can talk more after we dry off! Zeno is hungry anyway so food time!
