You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I mix tequila with xanax last night? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.
While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the moons and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as Prismal locals. The next destination: Prismatica.
Sparks can be seen overhead as more ship parts malfunction. This is a good time to hold your neighbor’s hand, say your last goodbyes, and apologize for that horrible thing you did in the sixth grade. Grip your seat with the might of every god you can think of.
▶ Jaws IV: Jaws Harder
Planet Prismatica, Outer Lunatia | top
The emergency landing successfully completes and the transport vessel will safely land on top of a gorgeous lake filled with tiny glaciers floating by. When reached out and touched, you’ll find out that the “glaciers” are surprisingly cool crystals and not ice.
The ship will be left hovering idly on the water surface while passengers are ferried to solid ground using portable emergency boats. However, civilization is still a distance away.
After surviving through so far, the Prismals guide everyone to a nearby encampment run by humanoid rabbits. They are tall, built, and have a habit of mentioning their virility an awkward amount of times. They are also generous and will share their game meat and fresh crops while allowing everyone to rest for the night at the only inn in their village.
The next day, the rabbits can be seen hacking away at some of the wilder-looking plants for an easier pathway. If you wake up early enough, you can ask some of them for a tour of the beautiful greenery. They mention that it’s thanks to the Moonblessed that their crops have been doing so well lately — the result of all the chroma influx. The rest of the journey to the city will be smooth sailing.

A. After settling into the ship and selecting the current in-flight movie, Back Door Slugs 9, you and those around you may eventually feel a bit of turbulence during the movie’s highly anticipated climax. Did anyone notice it, or is everyone too focused on the hot characters?
At first, it’s a small jitter that’s easy to miss or brush off. But as the transport vessel travels on, the shaking progressively escalates to erratic tremors strong enough to cause severe nausea. A minute later, a voice over the speaker announces the ship will have to make an emergency landing, citing technical difficulties.
Sparks can be seen overhead as more ship parts malfunction. This is a good time to hold your neighbor’s hand, say your last goodbyes, and apologize for that horrible thing you did in the sixth grade. Grip your seat with the might of every god you can think of.
B. Another minute later, a follow-up announcement states that external entities have breached the transport vessel. Everyone is warned to be careful and watch out for each other. Small fires will have to be put out before they worsen with either magic or emergency equipment onboard such as extinguishers. In-flight robotic attendants will be scuttling around to perform immediate repairs.
Eventually, an entire power panel bursts, and prismatic jellyfish unnaturally spill out. The jellyfish will try to latch and suction onto any technological devices close by such as the television screens on the seats or communicators and will show preference to Iris Moonblessed over the rest. Be ready to help and pull numerous jellyfish off both the faces of Moonblessed and Prismals!

A. You’ve probably heard of flying sharks from a veteran Moonblessed. But how about sea lions? These aquatic lions are born with scaly skin and gills outside of their crystallized manes. Unfortunately, they haven’t tasted fresh meat in quite some time. If there are any injured onboard or near your boat, the chances of the sea lions detecting people will be higher as they are drawn to the scent of blood. Growling hungrily, they will be quick to latch onto the boats, biting the edges, and trying to knock everyone overboard for dinner.
After surviving through so far, the Prismals guide everyone to a nearby encampment run by humanoid rabbits. The village protects a natural spring, which is a good place to bathe away the sea water. Around the spring, the rabbit folk’s friends — little scintilla chinchillas — will shock away any predators that dare to approach their sanctuary! Be at ease and feel free to offer your friends shampoo massages.
The next day, the rabbits can be seen hacking away at some of the wilder-looking plants for an easier pathway. If you wake up early enough, you can ask some of them for a tour of the beautiful greenery. Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A. Find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.
B. A new high-end boutique, Prissy Polyp, has opened in Level 2. As compensation for what happened, both Moonblessed and Prismals that were affected in yesterday’s flight will receive 50% off their total purchase. Those unaffected will receive 30% discount coupons as a promotional gift. All are encouraged to visit with their friends or special someone, try on some things together,enjoy each other in the fitting rooms, and deal with the loud, ear-blistering background pop music.
Their clothing collections are characterized by bright iridescent designs, some features such as design patterns may glow ethereally in the dark. One of their signature dresses features a one piece (also available on their trench coats) that can amplify the appearance of one’s decolletage, gluteal muscles, and/or bulge with the press of a neon button. Another item among their collection is the maiden sweater: a sleek, backless sweater that shocks those who attempt unwanted touches. Others include skin-tight leggings (also available on their shorts or pants) which produce pleasant and relaxing vibrations on all lower extremities and fashionable polyp-shaped hats for all kinds of people. It’s a huge shop, you never know what else to find in there.

[The Gusu Lan sect had always been renowned for how they hold righteousness in their heart, from what he had heard. He also had no reason to doubt it.
The only sect that he truly took issue with surrounded itself with gaudy gold.

[ 'Not here' is a wonderful choice. And yes, Sizhui has been searching through places that offer tea for tea that is like home. So he could offer it to Hanguang-Jun, when he finds it.
As they walk, he continues talking, only loud enough to be heard, because he's sure Xiao Xingchen's senses are already overloaded. ]
There are others, too, including Hanguang-Jun and Sect Leader Jiang and Sect Leader Nie. But also there is a cultivator whose robes I do not know who introduced himself as a Peak Lord from Cang Qiong Mountain, and I don't think that is known to us.

Walking along with the young Lan disciple, his brows knit at the news. Two leaders of the Great Sects? The situation must be in utter chaos back in their world. Where Xiao Xingchen ends up matters little to himself anymore, he can only hope that it's not that chaotic for the people still living there.
Well, he will miss his companions in the coffin home. And perhaps any chance of meeting his old friend again, even if he never expected...
He clears his throat, not letting old thoughts distract him as he walks beside Lan Sizhui.]
They must believe that cultivators are a useful power source, but most of us aren't very helpful in the way that they're asking for...
[Cultivators are often so stiff and serious, focused on refining the self as well as keeping a certain image-- how are they going to physically bond enough for this energy they're looking for?]

Well, they did bring two cultivators who are married, even if one of them didn't quite know about that yet. Because people come from different times, apparently? It is very confusing. But in some situation they choose right, so maybe the rest of us... there are reasons for us, too?

This is all very difficult to process. Already he'd never thought he'd have to imagine much of the world outside of his own-- he hardly felt like he had the capacity to make up stories. Now he feels like he'd been thrust into the middle of one, but with bits and pieces all cut up from others and stitched together.
He can only open his mouth, a slight disbelieving laugh. What is all this?
But the question makes his steps falter, just for a moment.]

[ Sizhui's steps stop until Xiao Xingchen has recovered his footing, but he doesn't reach out to help unless the stumble isn't properly caught. He's far too well-mannered for that.
Instead, his smile can be heard in his voice. ]

We're almost here. May I help you settle, Daozhang? The tables and chairs here are so strange.
[ He doesn't know how long the cultivator has been here, but the strangeness of the seats is a legitimate concern, especially for someone who doesn't have the constant visual reminders. ]

[ And when they get inside, Sizhui leads Xiao Xingchen and settles him down before bouncing off to order them tea. He'll ask if food is wanted... later. He's seen people eat alongside drinking the tea, here, but it just doesn't feel right. ]
I don't think I've seen any others, here, but there are... less than a double handful, here, I think, and there are many places to go to. [ Sizhui hesitates a moment, but then does ask, because too many hints and suggestions will lead nowhere, especially with someone he doesn't know. ]
Daozhang, when you ask that - are you looking for someone, or trying to avoid someone, or everyone?
[ Sizhui is more than aware of how this Daozhang's blindness has been used against him, whether or not - and by Xiao Xingchen's composure, he'd guess not - the man is aware, himself. He can't judge what to tell him, though he'd ask Hanguang-Jun to talk with Xiao Xingchen. Or, perhaps, Senior Wei. But if he can help in a small way, he'll try. He'll try. ]

Perhaps it's because he no longer had the chance to see any faces again, Xingchen didn't think to hide his own expression, feeling mostly unaware of it at most times. Over the past years, he'd only really conversed with the two he lived with. He never had much reason to hold back his expressions then-- they had no more reason to dredge up the past. It must be easy enough for even a stranger to tell what he's thinking by now.
He sighs.]
There's no one I'm looking for, nor is there anyone I'd avoid.
[Somehow even now, he doesn't want to admit that he'd been hiding all this time, far from where other cultivators would come. He'd feel the shame of running away on top of the reason he'd run away in the first place.]

[What could they say? The last thing he wants from them is any pity, which is all that he expects. He ought to cover up his sword again-- it'd lost the cloth surrounding it during the chaotic voyage here. Of course, with his luck, the part about him being blind is also famous, and the cultivators would put the details together...]

It is terrifying, to know something that he is aware can brake somebody. Especially when the person who would get broken is someone who so little deserves it...
Sizhui takes the time to pour out the tea and settle the cup directly in front of Xiao Xingchen. Not next to his hand so it wouldn't get upset accidentally, but at a convenient spot. If there seems to be trouble with locating it, Sizhui will help, but he suspects that might not be necessary. After a little while, he speaks up again. ]
This place... it can bring people from strange times, not only worlds. For a while, Wen Ning was here - but he was still alive, not the Ghost General yet.
Daozhang... if he was here, would you avoid him? Or Wei Wuxian?
[ There is absolutely no hatred or anger in the way either of those names is spoken. They sound... cautious, if anything. Perhaps a touch sad, if one really pays attention to that. ]

But he pauses in drinking when those names are mentioned.]
Wei Wuxian? The Ghost General? They are-- is that not the demonic cultivator and his right hand man?
[His brows knit in concern. Those were before his time, but when he left the mountain, the cultivation world still dealt with the fallout of their conflict with the Yiling Patriarch.]
So he's been taken from when he was still alive?
wehhh. Or a Song Lan. But yes, there are people who can tell him...
He was. He's no longer here, though. [ After a moment, the soft smile can once again be heard in his voice. ] Forgive me, I was just curious.
I wonder if a song lan would be possible...
[That felt strange to say.
He sips lightly from the cup of tea, face set in concern.]
But even one of those two here must mean that the situation is dangerous.
/stares at current and expanding cast I mean...
The situation is not dangerous. Not that way, I can assure you. Wen Ning was here from when he was alive, before he was a fierce ghost. When he was shy and quiet, and he wanted to heal like his sister could and not hurt anyone. And Wei Wuxian is not - he's not likely to cause trouble.
[ Sizhui breathes out softly. Not that Senior Wei would show it, but he suspects the man would be unhappy if his shishu hates him. ]
He... thirteen years after he died, someone sacrificed himself so Wei Wuxian would return in his body. After that, a lot of things came to light which made people understand the past better. It's... not that he is exactly innocent. But he is not evil, Daozhang. He was pushed until he lost control because people feared him and kept trying to attack him, but now Hanguang-Jun will make sure that doesn't happen.
You don't have to trust my word, of course. But please, if you run into him, give him a chance?

Xiao Xingchen continues to drink his tea as he listens to Lan Sizhui's explanation, his expression growing even more troubled. A body sacrifice? Losing control? Even though the boy is trying to ease his concerns, it only makes all of the details more difficult to untangle.
However... two with the surname of Lan defending the man? Though he questioned how every family member of a clan could faithfully follow a guiding principle, the Lans had emphasized righteousness in their actions. It's enough to give him pause before making any judgment... and that's also without considering that he knows nothing firsthand about it.]
I cannot say right now. A matter like this needs to be considered carefully. I've only heard that he killed five thousand people in a single night-- it's just... difficult to believe that every one of them had pushed him. And even if they had, did they deserve death in return?
[He gives a head a light shake, sighing.]
What sort of person could keep living in this world with that on their conscience?

He died. He did not try to come back, or do any more harm. What else would you have him do to atone?
[ The last part is not spoken as an accusation, but Sizhui remembers all to well all the voices at the Burial Mound, all the accusation and all the hatred. He remembers Senior Wei's despair and his words, and his self-sacrifice for them and how that barely made any difference.

If we meet, I suppose I can only try to understand... If he truly doesn't want to hurt anyone anymore, then perhaps that's the end of it, and there's no use in speaking of it again. Besides, these Prismals brought us here for a purpose, and they likely don't want any business from our worlds brought up again if it gets in the way of producing chroma.
[He sets down the tea again.]
Then what is he truly like? I've only ever heard the stories.

[ Sizhui takes a moment to drink from his tea as he considers that question. ]
The shortest answer I can give is 'mischievous and kind'?
It... before it was known that it was him, he and Hanguang-Jun ran into a group of juniors from different Sects, including myself, when we were lured into a ... very bad place. Some of us had gotten corpse poisoning from corpse powder - there was very thick fog and it was hard to see what was happening while we were fighting. He recognized what had happened, and he guided us through how to take care of them, how to find a way to cure them and what to do. He was teaching us all the time, making us do the work, and teasing each of us mercilessly, but he didn't let anything bad happen to any of us.
It... he didn't have to do any of that. If he was the horrible person from the stories, you know for yourself that he wouldn't have. Even most people would have at most taken care of the problems and not tried to teach us, but he made sure we knew what to do if we're in a similar situation on our own.

If that's true, it's hard to find any other reason for why he'd do such a thing, other than to protect you. Perhaps he truly has changed, then...

This is so complicated. Sizhui more or less talks to the hands in his lap, rather than in the direction of the person across the table from him. ]
Daozhang... yes, there are some who are like that. I hope you don't get to cross paths with any more of them.
[ At least, since he's not lying - he honestly hopes that - his words are crisp and proper, rather than mumbled. But if he brings up Xue Yang, he doesn't know how to keep Xiao Xingchen from finding out the rest. ]
