You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. Even the few shy moon creatures you find in the wild have strange crystal growths on their hides. This is far from home— perhaps a dream? You pinch your skin and slap your cheeks, yet nothing seems to do the trick. Searching for answers yields nothing but an endless expanse of purple dust as far as the eye can see. You have four options: one, panic; two, soil yourself; three, admire it all then soil yourself; or four, go into survival mode. Eventually, you’ll realize that you’re not alone.

After a day or two of living off the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. After the strange phenomenon during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? Why did I accidentally swallow the worm at the bottom of my tequila? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay.

While waiting for transport to be prepared, you may freely roam around the government center. Eventually you’re called back from exploring, escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the moons and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals. The next destination: Prismatica.

▶ I Heat Up, I Can’t Cool Down
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B After settling into your apartment, you notice a shiny silver indestructible mechanoid cube with a pair of tiny stag horns attached to it. The card attached says that it’s a gift from the Lunatian government. One touch of the cube makes it hover in place, light up brightly, and play the classic hit Last Firalia by Blam! on repeat. By the 7th listen, you get hot under your collar, beads of sweat forming on your temples and rolling down your neck, and your breath grows labored. By the 17th listen, you’re all but ready to burst into flames — a stark contrast to the plummeting temperature outdoors.

A bit of vigorous moonlacing should keep you from growing too hot and bothered indoors. Or you could simply decide to chuck the cube out the window and let it be someone else’s problem. That won't really stop it, though. The music only stops once the cube picks up enough Chroma in the atmosphere generated via moonlacing, so go forth, and spread the Firialia lust, love, and cheer!

▶ It’s the Moose Wonderful Time of the Year
City of Lunatia | top

In the city of Lunatia, the streets are emblazoned with beautiful antler decorations, gleaming gold and silver along every walkway. Snowflake holograms appear on shop fronts to announce their annual Firialia sales, and Prismals are all rushing to buy gifts and make preparations for the upcoming holiday.

According to legend, on one incredibly harsh winter, ancient Prismals were downtrodden and on the verge of starvation when the majestic stag king of the forest, Firi, emerged from his humble kingdom to bring them warm clothing, blankets, and gifts for surviving the biting cold. It is said that his spirit remains on the land even after the Calamity, appearing every winter solstice to bless the Prismals for the new year ahead. Every year, Prismals mount festive wreaths on their door, decorated with stag horns in Firi's honor, and exchange gifts to invite the benevolent spirit of Firi into their homes.

A Hanging fake deer antlers is a strong Firialia tradition that has endured for centuries — a success that can be attributed to its magical effects, which often compels two people caught beneath to share a bit of Firialia spirit with one another. One can find these trinkets everywhere, decorating even the most secluded of spaces. The antlers come in three colors:

RED: Causes a dangerous but intense feeling of desire to embrace the person you're with! You will want to roughly pin the closest person to you on a flat surface, passionately kiss, and/or aggressively hold hands.

BLUE: Causes people to want to kiss until they’re out of breath, hands liberally moving across each other’s body, and the errant temptation to go further, but no taking any clothes off in public or the Moon Knights will get you! You’ll simply be eager to tease and kiss beyond the lips and have difficulty feeling sated.

PURPLE: Causes people to want to caress each other's faces affectionately, steal soft kisses, and/or tenderly lace their fingers together. They may also feel compelled to offer up some sweet whispers and compliments!

B To combat the cool weather, Prismals will also be handing out cups of warm chocolate moose mousse. This light and creamy dessert is prepared in enchanted moose-shaped cups with a pair of festive graham cookie antlers poking out of it. Prismal traditions include taking a bite and passing it to your neighbor, enabling you to get a glimpse of one another’s Firialia wishlists left unspoken. Fancy a new fishing rod this holiday? Or perhaps that saucy leather subligar you’ve been eyeing since your arrival? The words and images that make up your list appear before whoever eats your mousse, so who knows? Maybe you might get it this Firilia...

▶ Are You Not Entertained?
Level 1, PrismaPlace | top

After the long wait and preparations, the League Match Action Online (LmaO) preliminary qualification rounds are now underway at the gaming hub in PrismaPlace in Level 1, as the city will be hosting the LmaO Grand Championship next month. Moonblessed old and new are welcome to take the game for a test drive and participate!

The award-winning VR MOBA boasts amazingly seamless first-person view graphics and a real-time combat mode almost as authentic as real life and guaranteed to wow and amaze. Players can explore and immerse themselves in the fantasy world of LmaO, where they can create their own avatars and either fight with or against players from Lunatia and the Kingdom of Lyestellus for glory and loot!

In co-op mode, you will be battling a selection of huge beasts chosen at random. The most notorious among them is Ogma the Dread Ogre, who has high defense and pesky unavoidable attacks. PVP mode pits you against other players, and getting KO’d three times in a row or having your base captured is a loss for you and your team. Fun mode featuring mini-games such as virtual basketball, rhythm step action, beat sword, and many more. Winning any of these modes nets you loads of in-game gold that can be used to buy aesthetic skins, cute in-game pets, fun game emotes, furniture for your in-game house, or weapon and skill upgrades to make you stronger for the next round!

Event emcees will be recruiting anyone passing by for the preliminaries and showing them into fully-equipped private rooms for teams of two to eight players. Each player will be given virtual headsets and tight suits for immersion and communication. Prismal players may be recruited with Moonblessed teams if necessary.

A The scenario for the preliminaries is a majestic coliseum filled with gladiators of all ages and species. In LmaO, weapon choices are currently limited to any melee and ranged weapons you'd find in an ambitious fantasy RPG setting (read: you can find dual swords and grimoires but also gunblades), including an elemental magic system of water, fire, wind, earth, dark and light. Choose your weapon and, with your team, fight for the top spot!

As you begin to battle, you notice that the more you get hit, the more your physical body shows visceral reactions to the attacks. Outside of the game, you lose balance. Bruises appear out of nowhere and mar on your skin. You earn minor abrasions and bleed. It’s possible to feel the sweat or saliva of other players or bots, the sensation of their virtual hands grappling you, or their teeth sinking into your shoulder as they bite. It's a new, tantalizing world of virtual stimulation.

B For those of you more interested in the glamour aspects of LmaO, you are welcome to compete against other players in either the in-game or a real glam-a-thon. Festive LmaO cosplayers will be scattered around the venue, dressed in colorful costumes of characters from the game, such as the ridiculously cool cyborg Kenji and the flirty immortal fox mage Yeri. As for the in-game contestants, they are located on a bright sparkling stage. Large monitors at PrismaPlace can be seen livestreaming everything.

Some of the many competitors are dressed in colorful gear, including stylish himations, risque chitons, and a bevy of glittery, neon gladiator sandals. Challenge other players to a fashion walk-off on the raised catwalk. Score high enough on either contests, and you will win an ultra-rare Firialia plump moose mount in-game. You are welcome to invite others on a scenic moose ride after as the plump moose very slowly waddles across the virtual snowfields and exhibits its adorable built-in feature where it decides to take a nap every few minutes.

I feel like eating a pie because of your scent so instead of eating you, I'll eat the pie. [...uhhh] Also, you need proper food. I'll cook you something.

[The trip upstairs was fast and he's actually happy to finally be inside. He doesn't feel like throwing up or anything, but he's grateful for Yosuke's thoughtfulness. Also, he really doesn't want to be all by himself in that empty apartment...]

Thanks, Yosuke, [Souji says, taking off his shoes and shrugging off the coat. The bed is nice and he drops himself on it, leaning back on his hands with a sigh.

...he'll bake tons of pies today.]

Obviously, but how about you settle in first before deciding to be a baker today? You’re the one who ruined their stomach.

[ His massive eyes twitch and perk completely straight at this words followed by the flush blossoming over his face. ]

Why am I always surprised when you say that stuff with a straight face? Ugh, just go lay down and don’t worry about feeding me or whatever! I got proper food and two hands, I can make my own food while you manage your food baby.

[ He rubbed his heated face as Souji went to lay down. Stupid partner. But he was done grumbling by the time he came back with the soda, giving him a straw to help with the sipping and set them both on the bedside table... that was a little cluttered with his headphones, some wireless headphones as well, his old music player, and a few other odds and ends. Eh, it’s fine. ]

You can thank me by feeling better, partner. Think about baking later.

You're the one who said I couldn't.

[No, it's completely his fault. He was picking a fight he couldn't possibly win.]

Hm? I was just being realistic.

[That's the only explanation Yosuke got before Souji went to completely occupy the bed. The little gadgets lying around, some familiar some not, but still screaming 'Yosuke'. And that in itself is comforting in this strange place. He pokes the headphones (he's never worn them before, they suit Yosuke better) and then turns to Yosuke when he comes in with soda.]

I like baking though. [He takes a good sip and sighs.] My stomach thanks you.

[ Realistic his ass. But he wasn’t going to argue about it. His partner was weird and that’s that.

Once Souji took the soda, Yosuke climbed onto the bed as well and leaned against the wall. He sat perpendicular to Souji laying properly on the bed which meant Yosuke had to get him to lift his legs to give him room. ]

I know you like baking, but just give yourself some time. I know... moving around isn’t new for you but... [ This wasn’t really as simple as going to a new town or city. He lightly punched Souji’s knee. ] It’d better thank me.

In any case, you can spend the night if you want. I got an extra room in this place. But technically you got your own. You, uh, the other you, got a big place. I think Rise is still in it but she’s been couch surfing to avoid being alone.

[ He knows because she’s slept here too. He crossed his arms. He wanted his friend back but he kind of forgot about the extra baggage that extended further than himself until now. This was gonna be tough to navigate. ]

Sorry, I know it’s all a lot but I’m here if you need anything.

[Hopefully Yosuke doesn't mind then that Souji has his legs atop of his. Does this count as moonlancing too? The turmoil in his stomach doesn't let him concentrate to figure it out. Also, don't worry Yosuke, his socks are clean.

He looks a bit thoughtful when Yosuke says that moving isn't new for him and, well, he's not wrong. His expression falls a bit further as he thinks about the apartment that's assigned to him.]

Yeah, I saw the place. It feels... [he stares at the drink in his hand] empty and cold. [He's always been honest with Yosuke and he's not about to stop. So the offer to stay here does perk him up, even though he'll probably be in the way.]

You sure about that? [That he can stay?]

[ Setsu-nee, his surrogate big sister, does it all the time so he doesn’t mind at all. It’s moonlacing, if only minor. Yosuke couldn’t help but feel bad when Souji’s expression falls. ]

Probably because Chie and Rise aren’t around. But yeah, I’m sure. You put me up before I decided to get my own place, least I could do for you is offer the same.

[ He would have stayed if Souji’s walls weren’t so thin. Awkward. ]

I don’t really have people over that often. Ren and Rise are probably the only ones that come over the most.

[Minor moonlancing or no, it's still trickling some income for them to use. And they kind of need it if they are to satisfy Yosuke's cravings. It kinda reminds Souji of a pregnant woman. Hopefully, he doesn't ask for watermelon in the middle of winter.]

If that's the case, I'd like to stay.

[Not just the night either, though he's not sure how to bring that up.]

I'm curious to meet this Ren person. [Yosuke seems to trust him so that's enough for Souji.]

[ It’s not even in season! He thinks.

He smiled brightly. This whole day had been going a lot better than he ever thought it could. It was nice having his partner back. This was what he missed the most. Just times where they could sit and talk about whatever. It wasn’t that it didn’t happen with the others, Rise’s sleepovers where they marathoned movies and turned the living room into a pillow fort were great. Sitting with Ren at his makeshift kotatsu and having curry was very homey and welcoming.

But his partner was special, as he’d told him in the past. ]

Then, while you nap, I’ll see about getting you those pie ingredients. The guest room is all made up so we don’t need to worry about that. Or we can have an actual sleepover like we used to back in Inaba. Your call.

[ He snorted a laugh. ]

Trust me, you’ll meet him eventually. He likes to jump in on people he knows from high places.

[ He was going to give Yosuke a heart attack one of these days. ]

[It would seem that they will be stuck here for an unknown period of time. And Souji plans to use the most of it to spend it as much as he can with Yosuke. Sure he'll meet other people, but there's something in their hanging out that feels like "there's not enough time in this world for us to say everything we want".

So, Souji will use this opportunity to the maximum.]

Mm, I'm fine with either. I'll take up the guest room, so that I don't crowd you in here.

[Especially with this moon thing going on. In case Yosuke has someone over for... well. He doesn't want to butt in.]

What? Is he good at parkour or something? That's kind of cool.

You wouldn’t crowd me but I doubt you wanna sleep on the floor or share the bed for several days, partner.

[ Yosuke is still quite under the impression that even with Souji being bi still, he’d likely want to doubt someone else. Probably a girl. Despite their actions today, he was too afraid to get his hopes up very high. He felt like he got his best friend back, why push it any further? ]

Yeah, he can. Him and his Persona gang are Phantom Thieves. It’s probably better for him to explain it to you, though. If you meet someone in a black coat, white mask, and red gloves, that’s him. Although you’ll wanna call him Joker then. They all got codenames.

[Souji always keeps his wants in check and never hopes for more than he can get. There are very rare occasions where he'd up and chase a thing he wants- well, that excludes hanging out with his friends. He always wants to do that.]

That... actually sounds kind of badass. The codenames, the name 'Phantom Thieves'. Do you think I'd look cool with a mask and red gloves? [Souji tilts his head.]

[ That earned a small laugh. ]

Fine, fine, camping 2.0. You know I actually got marshmallows and chocolate and graham crackers. Always wanted to make s’mores like they do in American movies, we should do that tonight.

[ He nodded. ]

Yeah, it really is. Not gonna lie, I’m jealous we only got glasses. [ He hummed as he tilted his head at Souji. ] I dunno about red gloves. I know you need a splash of color in your depressing wardrobe, but I don’t think red is your color. Maybe blue?

[ Yosuke was so going to take Souji shopping. Practically everything was full of color here, not many neutrals. He quieted down a little as he rested his hands on Souji’s legs that were using his own as a rest, picking at the hem at his pants. ]

They’re all pretty cool though, the thieves. Ren really helped me out a lot. [ A lot more than he expected really. ] He’s a good guy.

That's actually not a bad idea. But you'll need proper food too.

[He's going to mom you during cordis from now on. You better prepare yourself Yosuke.]

Don't let Teddie hear you say that. They are not that bad. I like the shape of yours. [It's so bright!] Hmmm, blue... maybe purple too then. [Souji is such black and white type of person that he's really wondering if other colors would look decent on him.]

I see. That's good to hear, that there's someone to support you... [While his other self was doing who knows what and 'this' self was not present. He'll have to thank Ren for helping them out.]

Obviously! Should I be insulted you’d think I’d just eat junk all day?

[ Let’s be real, he would if he could. But he has been trying. Still he’s smiling nonetheless. [

I didn’t say they were bad! Just not as cool! Please, they’re just squares. Nothing special about those. [ Purple or blue? Hm... [ Maybe a royal purple then, it’s on the blue side rather than the red side of the spectrum.

[ Yosuke shifted a little on the bed at that. ]

Kanji too, actually. Like I said before, he’s the one who explained everything to me. Helped me out when I first went Sanguis in September, he made me a coming out cake too actually. When I told him and apologized too. I haven’t been without, I guess.

[ He didn’t want to make Souji feel bad though. ]

And I’ve got you now. So don’t worry about it.

[Souji shrugs-]

I've never seen your daily meal plan into details, so I don't know. You did spend a lot of time at Junes, working, so maybe you snacked a lot? [Squints-] How come you're so lanky though?

The glasses- the frame just suits you. I guess Teddie knew what he was doing.

[To hear that Kanji has become so reliable makes Souji really happy. And getting along really well with Yosuke too- it's an awesome surprise.]

I'm not worried. [Much.] I just like to hear that all my friends are doing well.

[ The squinting made Yosuke give a somewhat guilty sound and he leaned away a little at that. Jeez, even prone the guy can act like a mom sometimes! ]

O-Okay well one I’ve always been lanky! You know that. And two... I... [ Sigh. ] You’re just gonna blame yourself and I don’t want you to. [ Another sigh and he didn’t really look at Souji as he continued. ] I mean, Cordis is part of it. I feel like I never make enough food but I wasn’t Cordis last month. I just... after the doll incident I just didn’t have an appetite. Setsu-nee... er, Setsura, she lives a few floors below me, made me some miso since I’d gone a few days without eating because I couldn’t eat while under that spell. Figured it’d be easy on my stomach.

Until I changed to Cordis, my appetite hadn’t really bounced back.

[Well, it's true that Yosuke was always lanky, but he wasn't this thin. This place really did a number on him.]

I see. That's troubling. [Souji looks deep in thought. So Cordis really burns down the calories. Also that doll incident. Souji wants to be encouraging and supportive for him, but he doubts that there's anything he can do regarding what happened.]

If you want, I can help you out. With restoring your appetite I mean. And I'll be there if something else happens, I promise. [He's never leaving his friends out of sight again.]

[ It's not like there's a set scale on how fast the metabolism goes up. He isn't snacking all day like Keigo does, but big meals don't last as long as they used to. Especially given he can actually finish his food now. ]

That would be great, actually. And I know you will, you don't need to promise.
