You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.
The next destination: Prismatica.

The city’s landscape is not spared by the erratic flow of time. On the ides of the third month, an emergency broadcast appears from Captain Natela:
Captain Natela
Greetings, Prismals and Moonblessed.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Port Sylvel has been completely crystallized. The Moon Knights are currently recruiting willing explorers and scientists to investigate the cause. Investigations are still pending, but the outlook is grim. The only survivors were among the few we carried out of the city last month. The rest perished from the crystallization.
Our heart goes out to those affected by this plight. There is no cause for panic. There is no sign that the crystallization is spreading beyond Port Sylvel. We Moon Knights stand with the people of Prismatica, as we have done for centuries. We are not mere defenders of a city but protectors of a planet. We endeavor to find the cause of this tragedy and bring peace and justice to the lives it claimed. Until then, we ask for your cooperation. Stay calm and press onward.
Those who volunteer to participate in the expedition will be rewarded for their efforts. They will be assisted by experts from the Lunar Scientia as well as the bear Prismal and Moon Knight Fahrouk, who looks worse for wear after hearing the news.
Officer Fahrouk
Oh, Moonblessed. It's you. Yeah, Hala is doing good. Won the spelling bee! I think she might make the nationals. ... I… I don't think I ever told you. Port Sylvel was our hometown. My wife is buried there. We’d go there every spring. Hala loved picking the flowers there. Did you know that different flowers grow in Port Sylvel compared to Lunatia? Haaaah...
Moonblessed! I know you think I'm not cool enough to hang out with you, and all I do is ask for your help, but please let me go with you! Please… This is something I have to do as a soldier, a husband, and a father.
… What? You always thought I was cool?
Finding strength and resolve after the participants tell him he's supposed to assist them on their mission anyway, Fahrouk distributes LIFE suits to the participants as he briefs them on what they're about to do. He and the participating Moonblessed will then be transported via a large transport vessel.
Port Sylvel is hardly recognizable. What was once an idyllic coastal town is now a site of tragic beauty — crystal formations encase buildings and Prismals like jagged glass coffins, as if preserving life in its final moments. Readings from life detectors tell you that everyone in the crystal has passed on, but you and your fellow Moonblessed think you can still hear their cries of distress carried along by the wind, warning you about the Prideful King.
Eventually, transmissions from the LIFE suits announce an order for escape. Buildings collapse and shatter in your wake, and the ground quakes violently as something awakens in the far distance...

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B Due to the temporal distortions, Prismals and Moonblessed new and old feel their bodies sporadically transform in the strangest of ways. Your joints ache like they’ve carried a lifetime’s weight of misfortune and regret. Your voice turns high-pitched like a certain pair has yet to drop. You turn into a confused infant in one moment and the seasoned fighter you always wanted to be in the next. Your memories also shuffle around along with your apparent age, leaving you confused and unsettled. The transformations can occur and last for as long as the 11th, when everything turns back to normal without incident. That time your baby self peed in your pants? Never happened. Until then, moonlacing seems to stabilize the weird abnormalities.

C For these dark hours, Lunar Scientia releases their latest Chroma-powered technology for Moonblessed use: star lanterns. When a star lantern is held by two Moonblessed, it absorbs newly generated Chroma from them, enabling it to light up the missing stars in the sky as you travel from place to place. The light’s color and intensity will depend on you and your partner’s bond, the spectrum ranging from a violet of hatred to a red full of love. Indifference, however, will not light the lantern at all. It also comes with a float function so that it can be released into the atmosphere without needing to carry it everywhere. Since the technology is limited in stock, Moonblessed may only have one star lantern in their possession.
One of the issued guidelines is to never walk through dark alleys alone even with the lanterns, as the crime rate has increased lately due to those taking advantage of the chaos. This is especially rampant in Level 3, at the mouth of the Lightless.

D Gigantic crystal lions flank the passage of the port city, their wings spread open and blue flames pouring forth from their mouths. You hear rumbling guttural noises, and if you approach them, their roars will escalate to warn you about proceeding any further. Beware: a single bite from these lions can easily tear through the LIFE suit and cause your body to crystallize quickly unless someone rushes in to moonlace with you to halt the effect. These lions are unlike the beasts you’ve fought before: their otherworldly strength is overwhelming, and nothing seems to wear them down. Destroying them seems pointless, as they quickly regenerate the minute they are obliterated.

Bokuto Koutarou | HQ!!
[Bokuto isn't the type of person to easily panic... but he feels like he should panic right now. Very reluctantly he accepts to be ushered on the ship that will take him wherever they said it will take him and remains at one of the windows squinting at the people being left behind on the dock.
His usually boisterous mood is considerably dampened as he finally stalks down between the rows of the seats, clutching onto his duffel bag with big "MSBY Black Jackals" written over it, slung over his chest. Deep breaths... there's no Akaashi around so that's a win. His mind starts listing off the 'good' things that happened (which are far few and in between) which calms him down a bit, but not enough to cheer up.]
Is this seat taken? [He asks person sitting in the front row about the seat next to the window, trying his best to smile through a frown. He should probably come up with something when he arrives. Maybe see if he can check on things back home.]
2. Welcome to the Jungle
[Fiddling around with the remote he found in the apartment had lost his charm after he turned the couch into a coffee table for the twentieth time. It's no fun when he doesn't have Kuroo or Akaashi or someone from his new team to mess around with all this new technology. He suspected things will get advanced but not this much. He can almost hear Atsumu snarking at him to stop it before he breaks it.
So he stops. And gets up. And changes into shorts, leggings, and a hoodie, pulls on the sneakers and heads for the door. When you don't know what to do, go for a run. It always worked in the past so why wouldn't it now? But as he opens the door, he collides with the person that was either trying to enter the apartment he's living in or just walking down the hallway casually. While usually it wouldn't hurt that much, Bokuto, well, works out. A lot. Hitting into a wall might've hurt less.]
Oh my GOD! I'm SO SORRY! Are you okay!? [Please tell him he didn't injure them!]
3. Lunatia Level 2 - Crystal Beach
Phwaaa! It's so nice here, [Bokuto sighs and drops onto the sand, almost dramatically, in a starfish pose. The breeze is nice, the sound of waves is nice (he can't remember last time he went to a beach), and even if it's still slightly cold, what little sun there is feels great on his face.
It's probably not a good idea to fall asleep here, though, even if he's very tempted to. He could feel the heaviness starting to settle behind his eyes when a shadow blocks out the sun that he was collecting like some stray cat.]
Ah, man, you're eating my sun! [He squints up with one eye at the person standing right above him. Did they want something from him...? He doesn't really know many people around here.]
4. Star Lantern
[He has been fiddling with the one that was given to him earlier, flipping it around in his hands and just trying to understand it. Not technologically savvy, he can't catch either the head nor the tail of this thing. It should light up, right? But no matter how much he prods at it, it just doesn't work.]
Ah! Hey, hey, hey! You there! The one with the lantern!
[Bokuto rushes down the street when he sees someone carry a lantern themselves and tries to catch up with them. Please wait up, he has questions! A lot of them!]
5. Wildcard
[ooc: Poke me at
2
Heh, I-I'm fine. No worries.
[ Not quite what he expected out of the first few days here, but it was a bit of a welcome distraction? Mostly because the sincerity and boisterousness reminded him a bit of Nagisa. It pinged him a bit with sadness, but he only gave his usual calm smile as he straightened his shirt. ]
no subject
Oh good... good! Great! Thank god, I wasn't watching, it was my fault! I really need to go for a run, this place is driving me nuts...
[By this point he's muttering the last part of that to himself. Running as fast as he can will get him out of this place, right? Right. One has to try everything!]
no subject
Really, it's alright. Ah, don't let me keep you then.
[ He stepped to the side. ]
I might do the same if I can find the pool.
no subject
No, no, I gotta make sure you're okay!
[He looks around,] Where's your apartment, I'll take you there! [A pool huh? Not bad, it could be nice to make few laps if there's one.]
no subject
[ Nothing hurt. He tilted his head in confusion but he couldn't help but point down the hall. ]
Uh, second door to last.
no subject
[It's completely flying over his head that this guy has no idea who Kuroo is. And then he ushers him down the hall.]
Awesome! You're my neighbor!

Crystal Beach
She blinks in surprise, half side stepping so a few rays shine past her as he peers down at him.]
Eating your sun? [She turns to squint at the sun before turning back to him, confused.] I am not understanding what is meant by 'eating your sun'. How could I be eating the sun? It is in the sky and I am here.
no subject
Not eat eat but like, [he motions with his hands] making shade and therefore sun is gone? [Speech:100.]
...I do wonder how it would feel to eat the Sun for real. [His mind completely steered away from the original topic now. And even if there's a lot of space on the soft sand to sit down, he still scoots a bit and pats the space.] Sit, sit! It's awesome here! If someone tries to eat the sun for real, we'll be first to see.
no subject
[She seems excited to have learned a new phrase and makes sure to step out of the way so she's not casting a shadow on him any longer.]
If you would not be minding, I would be liking that greatly. [She settles beside him, stretching her legs out and tilting her face up, eyes closed, feeling her skin warmed pleasantly by the sun.]
If the sun was eaten, there would be nothing but the darkness. It would be bad. Plants could not be living and without plants, we would not be living.
no subject
Not at all! I'd love some company!
[As she settles down, Bokuto props himself up on his elbows and offers a beaming smile- for a moment. Then she had to hit him with that depressing reality of Sun being eaten.]
Well, [he sits up fully, folding legs underneath himself and looking up at the sky,] that won't happen. I mean, we have the front row seats on it, we won't just let someone come and eat it.
no subject
If someone was having the power to eat the sun, I am thinking they would be very difficult to fight.
[She's settled back, propped up on her elbows, also tilting her head to squint toward the sun briefly before looking back at him.]
Where I am from, the sun has spirit- [She pauses, realizing she hasn't said that quite right.] The sun is a spirit. She has much power. If her power was to be running out or getting weakness, then we would not be able to live.
Is this your home or do you also come from far away?
no subject
You'd be able to fight someone that could eat the Sun?! That's so cool! How do you do it? [More like, he wants to know if he could do it too!]
So like, something like a Goddess? [He learned about cultures worshiping the planets and having all sorts of gods and goddesses around, so it's not that surprising (but that's the gist he knows from world history).]
Ah, no, no, not my home. I'm from Japan. I don't know how I got here though. [He just did.]
no subject
Everyone is able to fight. I was not saying anything about winning. [She laughs.] But I would be trying with great hardness. If someone was eating the sun, everyone should be trying to stop them.
[She tilts her head a little but ultimately shakes her head.] No... Maybe? Everything has a spirit but some spirits, like some things, have more strength or more size.
[Her face lights up with excitement.] I do not know of Japan! I would like to be hearing about your home sometime. I am not from here either. Did you awake in the sharp colorful stones? [She means the crystals. She'd been told that's the way everyone arrives but she'd yet to confirm it with anyone else. It didn't make much sense to her.]

so she'd taken the thing - it was rare, apparently, how could she not? - but that didn't mean she was down for putting it to its intended use just because it was dangling loosely from her hand. alas, that wasn't something a bystander could discern just from her posture, and so she finds herself on the receiving end of some unwanted attention.
the intelligent thing to do would be to let this guy catch up to her and address whatever seriously urgent problems he had, but...well, no one had ever called Hazel intelligent. her paranoia has been ramped up since finding herself dumped into a strange new world, uncertain of the ramification for her precarious state of existence, and when she sees someone running towards her? she acts on her first instinct, which is to shout indistinctly and break into a spring herself.
look at her go, trying to outrun this dude who's probably like a million feet taller and barreling down on her like a freight train, her own tiny legs windmilling with exceptional (if futile) motivation. it's so fucking stupid.]
no subject
[Wait, what? Why is she running away from him? Bokuto stops for a moment, his brain momentarily fizzling out as it tries to comprehend what's going on. Did he do something? He just wanted to ask stuff about the lantern. They are rare and she's, right now, the only one that's carrying it.
So, instead of concluding like a normal person that she's probably scared in this new and weird city, he gives a dash after her. It's not that hard to catch up with her, not with all the training he has in his pocket, though he's a bit winded as he slowly catches up with her.]
Just a few questions! Like! A few!
[Not even once does a thought occur to him that he is the one scaring her. Such are things when you don't have anyone to reel you in and smack you with reality.]
no subject
what's kind of funny about the situation, outside of its idiocy, is that despite the exceptionally spirited dashing Hazel doesn't appear to be out of breath at all? judging by her expression she seems to have enough energy to even contemplate smacking him with the lantern that had unwittingly gotten her into this mess to begin with.]
Nope. Nope! I don't want to accept Jesus into my heart, save the whales, or sign a fucking petition!
[that should cover everything benign, right? surely.]
no subject
I- wait, what's wrong with saving the whales!? They are cute!
[Focus, Bokuto, focus!]
But that's not it! Not at all! I just wanted to ask you what this lantern does!
[He lifts his own lantern to show it to her so she knows he's not lying.]
I see you carry one so you probably know, right?!

But that was when the solid body collided with his, his arm holding his coffee shot upwards to save it, somehow. He stumbles just a couple of steps back, regaining his footing easily and offering a smile. ]
Great, actually. Coffee's even good. Where are you off to in a rush?
no subject
Awesome! Good! I, uh- [he looks back at the apartment and sighs,]-got antsy from sitting around too much. So I planned to go for a run around the block. [Again. His body will protest later from the amount of running he's been doing these days but he has nothing else to do!]
And maybe if I'm lucky, I'd run into something fun!
no subject
Just around the block?
[ Turns his head to look behind him. ]
You can find some good places to run if you venture out further. I go out daily! What's your idea of fun, though?
no subject
Well, arrived, like, a few days ago? I don't know the city at all.
[He'll get lost, and he has no Akaashi to come and pick him up when he inevitably does. Does this place even have buses, trains or a taxi?]
Fun? Volleyball, of course! [Duh, as if there's anything else.] Are there volleyball teams here?
no subject
Ah! I've seen a few people moving in, you must be one, then. Well, you'll probably get lost a lot. I get lost sometimes and I've been here...about six months.
[ He laughs, though. ]
I wouldn't worry about getting lost, though. Everyone here has been very helpful if you do. [ But he perks up at the mention of volleyball. ]
I can't say for sure. I don't think they do, but there's places to play at what is probably less competitive levels than you'd see at home. If your home is kinda...Earth.
no subject
Does this place have some kind of map then? I'll buy it!
[Easy to say not to worry when you've been here for a while.]
Oh! Yeah! I'm from Earth! From Japan! I've been playing for Japan's volleyball division 1 for a while now so I was wondering if there are some competitive teams around here.
[Hmm. Maybe he should teach volleyball...]
