▶ TDM .017
You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.
The next destination: Prismatica.

07/08 - 07/15 | Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top
Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

▶ You’re as Cold as Ice
07/08 - 07/15 | Level 2, Crystal Beach | top
Summer strikes Lunatia with record high temperatures as the city is wracked by an unnatural heatwave. Residents will feel the burn the moment they head outdoors, kissing their skin pink as it drenches them in sweat. For a hot and sticky day like this, it's the perfect time to head to Crystal Beach for a refreshing dip in the water. All sorts of new stands have popped up by the shore, selling icy treats and frozen cocktails.
The morning news recommends befriending those blessed by Cordis, who can keep people cool with their magic touch. They also warn of overheating machinery and electronics! Establishments and residences may end up dealing with broken air-modulating units if they use them too much.
Having cleared their names, Suzaku and Kaya of former *BTSB fame have decided to reform as a rock band duo called The Nine Tails after leaving their boyband roots. They will be performing their most chill new summer jam, “Fox Girl Summer,” while incorporating Cordis magic of their own to keep the listeners feeling cool and refreshed.
In a panic, Kaya winks at Suzaku, who reassures his worried partner and ends their performance by summoning a mighty phoenix above the stage. Of course, it is only an illusion for the audience as Kaya thaws the partygoers and the ocean with his magic. Suzaku might have gotten carried away with their debut...

▶ Boom, Badoom, Boom, You Got that Super Bass
07/08 - 07/15 | top
The heated beach waters have brought a large onslaught of aggressive super bass close to the shore. Needless to say, the boys with the booming system were not ready for the sudden and alarming increase in population of this particular fish. In response, the beach committee is hosting a fishing competition to see who can catch the largest super bass. They will be providing extremely durable fishing gear and sufficient bait to all worthy competitors, so come to the Crystal Pier with your best fishing know-how and try and break a record or two!
Due to the competition, job openings for lifeguards have become available. Their main task is to keep an eye on participants and the audience. They should be ready to pull them out in case they have trouble swimming back to the pier. Lifeguards will be provided official beach committee high-tech swimsuits (in the form of tankinis and speedos of your choice) that enhance their performance by allowing them to swim faster and breathe more easily underwater. In the dark ocean depths, they glow with patterns easily recognizable to the Prismal eye. They also accentuate the Moonblesseds’ assets very nicely.

The city of Amegahara is in preparation for the annual Vulpus Astra Celebration which is coming up in a few weeks. This year is special as the foxes of Amegahara have never celebrated this occasion with the dragons of Lyestellus, making it the first time all three cities in the alliance will be celebrating together. This is all thanks to the Moonblessed, who not only healed their lands but also brought the Prismals closer.
And so for this special year, the upcoming event promises to be an even larger and more extravagant affair. In order to address the extremely high demand for traditional dress and other materials needed for the celebration, many job openings become available in Amegahara. Among these are tailors, glassblowers, florists, and dancers.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B Those listening to Kaya and Suzaku’s summer anthem might find their beats too chill to relax and party to. And by that, we mean literally. Ice may start to form around the limbs of happy local beachgoers, filling them with unfortunate shivers that will send them running into the arms of another Prismal to thaw. Even more troubling is that some portions of the oceanfront may also start to freeze, trapping some unsuspecting swimmers inside and leaving them in need of rescue. If anyone goes unnoticed, a Prismal lifeguard will be quick to rescue them.
In a panic, Kaya winks at Suzaku, who reassures his worried partner and ends their performance by summoning a mighty phoenix above the stage. C Although they are no different from sea bass in appearance, super bass are known for their monstrous strength and penchant for mischief. They like to fly in the air and slap whoever tries to catch them and their fellow fish with their tail fins. You think you like them better when they dolo? Think again. These fish will purposely grab a hold of something eye-catching such as rainbow-colored sea pearl or other treasures from the ocean and pull the unsuspecting fishers into the watery depths.

Among these are tailors, glassblowers, florists, and dancers.
D The tailors will be sewing traditional clothes, such as lovely-patterned yukata, kimono, haori, and obi. Glassblowers will create pearl glass plates, cups, and trinkets such as hair accessories and festive souvenirs. Florists will be heading to work at Inari Highway’s greenhouses, caring for flowers and putting together flower crowns, colorful bouquets, and floral arrangements to use for street and interior decorations. It is encouraged to make use of pearl glass vases!
Lastly, dancers will be auditioning for a group of strict Amegaharan foxes who will not shy away from hurling insults if you underperform. The traditional Amegaharan dance features many layers of intricate fan work that is difficult to master, or dancers can choose to take part in the more uproarious Amegaharan drum dance. Be prepared for long and grueling rehearsals after passing auditions, where you will be forced to partner up with one another to bend each other’s bodies as flexibly as it could then dance until every single person in the room has the movements and timings memorized perfectly. Moonlacing will keep one another from collapsing in exhaustion, but your bruised ego may require more tender care.

[ He glances back where's she's gesturing, then has a little chuckle at himself as he shakes his head. She is the first to have pointed out his tail, whereas to every Prismal, decked as they are in the fantastical features of beasts, it is no more than normal. ]
It is a friend of mine that is the true devotee to dance. I admit, this makes me think of him.
But that there is where you and I are going.
[ That being a monstrous drum upon a heavy stand, wrought with ornate markings and a twisting fox upon the tight drum skin. Unlike its smaller fellows scattered around the room, this drum has batter heads on both sides, meant to be utilized by two players at the same time. It has been given a wider berth by all the other performers, suggesting that the sound of it, when it sounds, will be in the realm of a bit much. ]
no subject
The realization of the family she has left behind, through no choice of her own, prevents the smile from rising to her mouth. If nothing else, the drum will be a welcome outlet for all of the frustration swelling inside of her, even if she's very aware their instructors are informing her she makes for a better blunt, forceful object than a delicate dancer. ]
Putting me on instrument duty is a very polite way of telling me I make for a terrible dancer. [ She remarks without offense, dragging a curious finger around the drum's curve. ] How do you know I have rhythm or strength?
[ Which is her (barely) polite way of questioning why he had chosen to help her at all, and a test of what he thinks he's observed of her. ]
no subject
[ He points this out with an easy smile, meant more to friendly than contrary. He doesn't need to reiterate that indeed not, delicate dancing is not her forte. The instructors had seen that and likely commentated upon it in their...severe...way, but this means that there is an alternative route to triumph.
And funds.
He assumes they're being paid for these performances, because if they are not, he is going to be a bit arsed about it. ]
I can see you have strength. It's in how you hold your arms, your shoulders. The rhythm, well...everyone has that.
[ His tail curls slowly back and forth. ]
I can help you find it, if you're concerned.
no subject
You also called me stubborn. [ She shrugs, but the stiffness in her shoulders betrays the casualness of it. ] I might have decided your feet are worth the price of victory.
[ A small price to pay, compared to what she has truly sacrificed, has truly lost, in the name of victory. Stepping away from the drum, her fingers tighten around the sticks, testing the weight in her grip — holding them more as a blunt weapon than an instrument. Even this will take some work to adjust to. ]
You're more observant than I expected. [ There's neither a confession or dismissal in that comment, but as far as Jude is concerned, giving the impression of strength is a boon. Having it noticed is as satisfying as it has ever been. With a sharp nod: ] Show me. I'll follow your example.
no subject
[ His response is equal parts playful and good-natured, softening his next words as he gestures to her hands. ] Put your grip up a little higher. For this drum, we are going to want the whole weight of our arm to go along with the weight of the striker. Hold it too far down and you will lose your grip as well as some strength.
[ He shows with his own hands, holding his own more like a garden spade than a weapon, as if he expects to be digging in the dirt. ]
Now, for the example...don't listen to me. Listen here.
[ With purpose, he pounds a fist against his chest, over his heart.
Thump-thump.
The most natural rhythm of all. ]
no subject
I'm afraid my heart was not made for music.
[ Just as Taryn's heart had not been in the steps of swordplay, running through as if it were a play to recite rather than the animal instinct Jude and Madoc share. Not for the first time, she wonders what that says of her — that music cannot make her heart sing the way that strategy and battle have, a type of creature that prefers the bloodthirsty cadence of blades clashing against one another.
In the end, it feels like too much like a confession wrapped in a typical turn of phrase. I'm afraid. No one needs to know how true that part of her statement really is. ]
no subject
[ His ears have a meaningful slant to them, perked up and pointed forward, toward her. With drumsticks in hand, he moves to her side of the drum, standing before the spiraled shape of a dancing red fox. ]
Rhythm. A beat. One in our blood and in our breath. We've been doing it since the day we were born.
[ The stance he takes plants his heels against the floor, a solid foundation even as his back bends and both arms raise, the muscles of his bare back and shoulders bunching tightly.
BOOM-BOOM.
The drum is, indeed, loud. But just those two beats he times with the pulse of blood in his ears - flattened in that moment out of necesscity, to block some of the sound from how sensitive his hearing truly is - and then again, with one breath between.
BOOM-BOOM.
BOOM-BOOM.
Then he steps back, and gestures for her to try. ]
Use your strength, as much as you dare. The skin is very tight and heavy.
no subject
Like a wardrum, come to signal the battle ahead. If she translates it into terms she can grasp, the entire process seems simplified. ]
If I hit it as hard as I wanted, it would break. Mind your ears.
[ The matter-of-fact nature of her voice negates any bragging that might have. Frustrated as she is with this entirely new world, she is nervous over the damage that might be done. Still, it looks sturdy enough as she brings her force bringing down. It booms, loud enough to startle a handful of performers out of their fluid movements, more brute strength than skill.
At least it's on rhythm. ]
no subject
Now that is a good strike.
[ He is speaking a bit louder than before, on account of his hearing being muffled. ]
Keep on that rhythm. A steady heartbeat.
[ While he goes to the other side, the one with the black and red fox, and raises his own drumsticks. He waits for her next note, such as it is, and places his two quick beats of the drum between it.
BOOM.
BOOM-BOOM.
BOOM.
More of a rhythm. Almost a true beat. ]
no subject
This time, she doesn't stumble. There are no terrible mistakes or bruised feet once the songs ache and their instructors — still looking unimpressed, but Jude supposes that's their permanent expression — call for a break. She takes the moment of reprieve to wipe sweat beading on her forehead, but she looks far lighter. Entertained, almost, judging from the shine of her eyes when she turns to her partner with the faintest of smiles. ]
Not as terrible as I expected. [ What a ringing endorsement.... ] You make for a better teacher than our employers.
no subject
When it is done, he is breathing hard, and rolling his shoulders. It was certainly an exertion; hot and strained he may be, but it is nice. From her expression, perhaps she feels the same...? ]
I like to imagine that I have less of my head up my arse.
[ He ignores the withering glance he receives from the nearest of their instructors. ]
I think now we are owed a bath and a drink.
[ A pause. ]
Shower. It is primarily showers here, is it not?
no subject
Most men like to believe that.
[ Whether his impression of himself is right, that remains to be seen — but her opinion, thus far, is a favorable one. He reminds her a bit too much of the Court of Shadows, in his own way; the Roach's helpfulness, the Bomb's smart mouth. Her chest tightens as she thinks of them, settling the drumsticks down.
She hasn't gleaned much from today, nothing too useful, but it's a start to her stay in this new world. ]
Showers, yes. From what I've seen, anyway. [ This should be the part where she admits she has no idea about technology, but admitting how unaccustomed she is? Painful for her pride. Even more painful, when she remembers her short stay in the mortal world, and the muddled memories of a life that came before. ] You don't sound like you're used to them.
[ Pot, kettle. ]
no subject
He picks up one bottle, using his teeth to turn the glittery cap, and tosses another to Jude. ]
You have me pegged rightly.
Oh, we do have them...but large settlements only, big cities with the piping to manage the pressure. I don't oft have opportunity to indulge in that luxury. And none at all have all the fiddling 'settings' that I have seen in the one shower I have investigated thus far.
[ The next thing he tosses her is a towel. ]
Somewhere in this blasted illuminated city must be a bath. I mean to find it.
no subject
Maybe there's none at all. Not everyone, she reminds herself, was raised in her world. She settles the towel over one shoulder, peering at the colors that flash through the water, before she sets herself to following suit and twisting the cap off. ]
Where I come from, only mortals use them.
[ It's a mistake, she's learning, to expect anyone else's world to closely resemble her own. Her lips purse, considering. ]
If you can't find a bath, make one. [ Like it's that easy, but if wild fey can do it just fine, this man should hardly have a difficult time. ] There are plenty of lakes and rivers and oceans for the taking. Just be certain there's nothing territorial lurking in them, first.
no subject
Mortals. An interesting take, that, and one that he did not expect to hear in this place. He thinks of the sweeping tower of the Trine, and then of the bright and rolling green hills of Timh Gyeus. What are the odds, he wonders...?
Better than he assumed. ]
Aye, I spied a pond or two on the way here that would serve me well enough, but I am a man of niceties. [ Now his sigh is terribly fond. ] A wide footed tub, the water steaming, the bubbles scented with rose and orange peel...
Now that would be a bath.
[ He grins at her, and jerks one thumb toward the door. ] I don't expect to be lucky enough to stumble upon that, but why not search with me for a while? We can finally share names.
[ Considering they have not, in fact, introduced themselves. ]
no subject
[ It's tempting to give a false name, but it serves no point or purpose — though the omission of her titles is deceptive all on its own. Still, she inclines her head in the slightest; it's Taryn that has the words and charm for courtly graces, but Jude isn't without the manners or habits Elfhame has cultivated.
Or the liking of luxury. She can survive perfectly fine without it, but she hasn't forgotten the status she had been given as Madoc's ward, as seneschal, as queen. Status she now lacks here. ]
People who grew up in luxury don't like to live without it. [ She can't imagine herself to be good company, but she takes the invitation all the same, and starts for the door. A woman on a mission, even if that mission is finding him a suitable bath. ] And those who haven't lived with it treasure it more than anyone else.
[ As far as she sees it, he's either one or the other. Getting to know him isn't a deliberate interrogation, on her part, but friendships have always been rarer for her than probing and puzzling out what's in front of her. ]
Which are you?
no subject
[ He has graces of some kind; even while walking sweatily into the hall, he tucks an arm and gives her a little bow. It is...awkward...considering they are walking side-by-side, but one must make the effort. ]
And I would be the second.
[ This he says without shame or hesitation; if she had asked him that a summer or two ago, his attitude would have been quite different. ] I have come into means and riches only recently, and each helping of excess is still quite charming and enjoyable to me.
My friends scold me for my hedonism.
[ Of course, if she is going to probe and to question, she must be prepared to experience the same in return, because he turns his head to look at her, one ear flicking with interest. ]
What about you?
no subject
Trying to pin the attention on him had been a miscalculation on her part. She realizes that as soon as his eyes swivel to her, so unlike the disinterested gazes that had passed over her in Faerie — before a new distraction came along, and the dullness of her mortal existence was no longer entertaining. From the pause that follows, it's clear she isn't used to that manner of attention.
More than that, she has to debate with herself over how much information to give; a lie, or the truth? In the end, Jude settles for something in-between: the skeleton of a true story. ]
I was raised in a court of hedonists. [ Understatement. ] Then I became seneschal to the High King, and luxuries became the least of my worries.
no subject
[ Up go the brows. Up go the ears.
He also purses his lips for good measure, puzzling that one out. Hedonists is hard to take any other way other than the way he imagines: feasts, orgies, perfumes, alcohol, and recreational something or others. She seems rather well-adjusted for...
...er, he takes that back. His tail curls in a curious little wave. ]
I...wonder if seneschal means something different on your star than it does on mine. From your tone of voice it sounds troublesome and short on real reward.
no subject
[ And though politics will always be maddening, a competition of scheming and strategy, she sounds less perturbed than she should about that fact. It's the life she had pursued for herself, after all — the destiny she had forged for herself and for Elfhame. ]
My High King wasn't ready to rule. [ It steals her breath to reflect on how much she has changed since, how far they have both come. How far Cardan has come, above all. Pride suffuses her chest, warm enough that she feels compelled to glance away from Six. ] What could be more troublesome than that?
[ A lot, actually. So much more, but she's conveniently not delving into that mess. ]
no subject
He shuts it, thinking better of his initial response. There are more troublesome things than that, yes, but that is not a very pleasant or engaging topic for conversation, is it? Rather than pursue discomfort - his or hers - he instead gestures to everything around him. ]
Why, being abruptly plucked from our stars and placed upon this one with, in my opinion, a condescending, guiding hand and a rather ludicrous requirement for living peaceably.
[ Moonlacing, he has been told. ]
That is troublesome in the extreme, if you ask me.
[ And as light as his mood may seem, Six still isn't terribly happy about it. ]
no subject
Without any plan for returning to Elfhame, their current predicament is a thought she has actively tried to avoid. Six's displeasure brings it back to the forefront of her mind — and all of the emotions she associates with it. Frustration at her powerless, righteous anger directed at their captors, and no endless worry over the control slipping through her fingers like grains of sand.
It's only a matter of time before she has to forfeit it to the whims of some ridiculous Moonblessing — another predicament she does not know how to approach without a solid strategy. She pauses in her step to cast him a scrutinizing look. ]
Shouldn't a hedonist like you enjoy it?
[ ... To be blunt. She hates it, but she cannot imagine the hedonists in Elfhame would find Moonlacing pleasurable. An indulgence, even. ]
no subject
I admit, I would not mind a pleasant vacation, should the weather break instead of constantly assaulting me with the merciless rays of a burning star.
[ He does not care for the sun. ]
But I have left behind several problems that need solving, and more than a few companions I would rather be helping instead of meandering around in search of a bath. Not that I don't doubt that they are entirely capable of--
[ Oh, wait. ]
You mean the Moonlacing, yes? I don't like being required to do anything, even if I am as pleased with a romp in the bedroom as any red-blooded man.
no subject
Still, she can't help but be envious that he had appeared much more content with their surroundings than even Jude can pretend to be — on the surface, at least. First impressions can certainly be deceiving. ]
I was beginning to think I was the only one who minded being stolen from our homes and made to — [ Her mouth purses. ] — Moonlace.
[ What she doesn't admit is the relief that comes with knowing that isn't the case, with finding a similar mind. Her eyes roam over the room, curious, before she moves on. ]
The decision is still in your hands, isn't it? Moonlace with who you'd like, or choose your own death by crystallization.
[ Not much of an option, truly, but she is Madoc's daughter. As it currently stands, those are the only two paths available on the board. ]
It would be a wasteful one. Stubbornness isn't worth dying over.
no subject
And he knows that foisting his own displeasure on strangers, especially strangers who have had no hand in it, is rude and largely fruitless. Better to commiserate after a bit of friendly interaction, no? That is how one makes acquaintances instead of being told to shut their piehole. ]
I am in the unique position of having some experience in this - the kidnapping, I mean. This is the second time I have been spirited away with little notice.
Being spirited away to swive--[ Context implies he means fuck. ]--is new, however.
[ He purses his lips, trying a more mundane door...and stares in at piles of folded towels. Alas. ]
Do you have anyone in mind for Moonlacing? Preferences? Rules and requirements?
I'd like them to have a nice arse, personally.
