▶ TDM .017
You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.
You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.
The next destination: Prismatica.
▶ Welcome to the Jungle
07/08 - 07/15 | Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top
Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

▶ You’re as Cold as Ice
07/08 - 07/15 | Level 2, Crystal Beach | top
Summer strikes Lunatia with record high temperatures as the city is wracked by an unnatural heatwave. Residents will feel the burn the moment they head outdoors, kissing their skin pink as it drenches them in sweat. For a hot and sticky day like this, it's the perfect time to head to Crystal Beach for a refreshing dip in the water. All sorts of new stands have popped up by the shore, selling icy treats and frozen cocktails.
The morning news recommends befriending those blessed by Cordis, who can keep people cool with their magic touch. They also warn of overheating machinery and electronics! Establishments and residences may end up dealing with broken air-modulating units if they use them too much.
Having cleared their names, Suzaku and Kaya of former *BTSB fame have decided to reform as a rock band duo called The Nine Tails after leaving their boyband roots. They will be performing their most chill new summer jam, “Fox Girl Summer,” while incorporating Cordis magic of their own to keep the listeners feeling cool and refreshed.
In a panic, Kaya winks at Suzaku, who reassures his worried partner and ends their performance by summoning a mighty phoenix above the stage. Of course, it is only an illusion for the audience as Kaya thaws the partygoers and the ocean with his magic. Suzaku might have gotten carried away with their debut...

▶ Boom, Badoom, Boom, You Got that Super Bass
07/08 - 07/15 | top
The heated beach waters have brought a large onslaught of aggressive super bass close to the shore. Needless to say, the boys with the booming system were not ready for the sudden and alarming increase in population of this particular fish. In response, the beach committee is hosting a fishing competition to see who can catch the largest super bass. They will be providing extremely durable fishing gear and sufficient bait to all worthy competitors, so come to the Crystal Pier with your best fishing know-how and try and break a record or two!
Due to the competition, job openings for lifeguards have become available. Their main task is to keep an eye on participants and the audience. They should be ready to pull them out in case they have trouble swimming back to the pier. Lifeguards will be provided official beach committee high-tech swimsuits (in the form of tankinis and speedos of your choice) that enhance their performance by allowing them to swim faster and breathe more easily underwater. In the dark ocean depths, they glow with patterns easily recognizable to the Prismal eye. They also accentuate the Moonblesseds’ assets very nicely.

07/08 - 07/23 | City of Amegahara | top
The city of Amegahara is in preparation for the annual Vulpus Astra Celebration which is coming up in a few weeks. This year is special as the foxes of Amegahara have never celebrated this occasion with the dragons of Lyestellus, making it the first time all three cities in the alliance will be celebrating together. This is all thanks to the Moonblessed, who not only healed their lands but also brought the Prismals closer.
And so for this special year, the upcoming event promises to be an even larger and more extravagant affair. In order to address the extremely high demand for traditional dress and other materials needed for the celebration, many job openings become available in Amegahara. Among these are tailors, glassblowers, florists, and dancers.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.
Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B Those listening to Kaya and Suzaku’s summer anthem might find their beats too chill to relax and party to. And by that, we mean literally. Ice may start to form around the limbs of happy local beachgoers, filling them with unfortunate shivers that will send them running into the arms of another Prismal to thaw. Even more troubling is that some portions of the oceanfront may also start to freeze, trapping some unsuspecting swimmers inside and leaving them in need of rescue. If anyone goes unnoticed, a Prismal lifeguard will be quick to rescue them.
In a panic, Kaya winks at Suzaku, who reassures his worried partner and ends their performance by summoning a mighty phoenix above the stage. C Although they are no different from sea bass in appearance, super bass are known for their monstrous strength and penchant for mischief. They like to fly in the air and slap whoever tries to catch them and their fellow fish with their tail fins. You think you like them better when they dolo? Think again. These fish will purposely grab a hold of something eye-catching such as rainbow-colored sea pearl or other treasures from the ocean and pull the unsuspecting fishers into the watery depths.

Among these are tailors, glassblowers, florists, and dancers.
D The tailors will be sewing traditional clothes, such as lovely-patterned yukata, kimono, haori, and obi. Glassblowers will create pearl glass plates, cups, and trinkets such as hair accessories and festive souvenirs. Florists will be heading to work at Inari Highway’s greenhouses, caring for flowers and putting together flower crowns, colorful bouquets, and floral arrangements to use for street and interior decorations. It is encouraged to make use of pearl glass vases!
Lastly, dancers will be auditioning for a group of strict Amegaharan foxes who will not shy away from hurling insults if you underperform. The traditional Amegaharan dance features many layers of intricate fan work that is difficult to master, or dancers can choose to take part in the more uproarious Amegaharan drum dance. Be prepared for long and grueling rehearsals after passing auditions, where you will be forced to partner up with one another to bend each other’s bodies as flexibly as it could then dance until every single person in the room has the movements and timings memorized perfectly. Moonlacing will keep one another from collapsing in exhaustion, but your bruised ego may require more tender care.

On the court. Off it however he is not so fickle, most days.
"The one and only, your Rakuzan's Mayuzumi, right? They got you too, is this place for real?" Because come on, where is the punchline, there has to be a punchline somewhere here. Please, tell him there is.
no subject
Besides, if he's going to end up coming across a freshly arrived shadow, then better a miffed Takao than any flavor of Kuroko!
"Yeah, you've got it," he says. "I graduated already though, so it's just Mayuzumi now."
If anything he might look a little taller and more adult than Takao might remember, if the guy even noticed him enough the first time around to be able to tell the difference; Mayuzumi's been gone from home for...a while.
"And it's all real. Turns out reality's stranger than fiction."
no subject
"No way, you do look older, though, congratulations, I guess...." Oh he paid attention, this guy has observation skills to spare. Even off the court, though all the good they have done him today. Forgive him Mayuzumi, he is going to slump over the rail in front of him and let his arms hang here for a moment dejected. He is not sure how much congratulations should go on in this place, but hey finishing school is a big deal, yeah?
"I was afraid of that. This sucks..."
no subject
He isn't really the kind of guy who's adept at comforting others, so he responds to Takao's dejection by calmly pulling a light novel out of his pocket and paging through it to where he left off. He's still offering moral support by being in the vicinity and listening to the guy vent; it's just that they don't have remotely close enough a relationship for Mayuzumi to go into a more overt form of senpai mode without making things awkward.
Because in a way he sort of does feel a whisper of that kind of responsibility for Akashi's friends and the people important to Akashi's friends in turn, even if Akashi himself's no longer present in Lunatia. Loyalty is one of his strong points even if being a touchy-feely shoulder to cry on isn't.
"This place really isn't such a bad one to get stuck in, though. The technology here's on the sci-fi level and pretty cool, for example."
Unlike the place he ended up before this one, Lunatia has a thriving light novel industry! And computers and VR video games! That has to be a comforting thought, right?
"...Although I won't deny the moonblessing stuff's kind of a pain in the ass sometimes."
no subject
It can't be all bad. Presence is enough to comfort, he would probably weird out at anything else so it's a good call on Mayuzumi's part. For the moment he listens, slumped over the railing like a sad sack.
He perks up a little, well that is some comfort but there is one thing he has to know, okay two but since they are talking hobbies "Do they have trading cards?" His day may get a little better or a lot depending on this guys answer.
As it is he turns, flopping down on the ground close but with enough appropriate social distance of course, not caring that he seems to be reading or at least holding his book.
"Yeah, that's the part I am worried about...."
no subject
He gestures with the light novel in his hand to underscore his point; it's a local series rather than one of the precious volumes he still has from back home, but language aside it wouldn't look at all out of place next to his old favorites, down to the colorful heroine illustration on the cover.
"Go down the right street around PrismaPlace and you'll almost think you're in Akihabara."
...Well, maybe a futuristic Akhibara of 50 years from now where the animal ears are real rather than cosplay props, but still!
"As for moonblessings..."
He does actually glance over at Takao at this point, speculating over which moonblessing might suit the guy. Cordis or Sanguis, maybe? Wolf or cat ears would feel about right for the vibe Mayuzumi's gotten at least and he's definitely a connoisseur when it comes to this stuff.
Of course, he never figured Akashi would've ended up as Iris either, but that happened...
"Some of them are definitely more of a hassle than others. I don't suppose you've gotten any clue what you're stuck with yet?"
no subject
"VR is cool but some things you just have to get your hands on." Like trading cards, never once does he think how wrong that sounds. But of course, he may get lucky and not have it taken wrong, here's to fate.
"Thanks, I'll have to find my way there." When he has chroma but he'll keep that to himself. Everything keeps circling back to the fact that he is not going to be able to do much, maybe he can get a job, that should help. Why can't he just play basketball? It's so much easier.
There is another sigh as Takao actually pulls his knees up to his chest and drops his chin on them, wrapping his arms around his legs. If the explanation he was given is to be believed, he is pretty sure he got the worst possible one to ever exist at least the other two seemed kind of cool and interesting. "Iris..."
no subject
Which is a rather remarkable statement to be coming from a hardcore light novel heroine enthusiast, but meeting the girl of his dreams kind of broadened his horizons into embracing the third dimension.
He's actually about to suggest a game shop he knows that might be just what Takao's looking for, but the guy's admission of what moonblessing he has stops Mayuzumi cold.
"Iris, huh." He clears his throat, resisting the urge to place a consoling hand on the guy's shoulder. "That's...really gonna take some adjustment for you."
It also makes an unspoken question come to mind. '...What's with point guards and Iris? Talk about a coincidence.'
no subject
Good on him, Takao loves his trading cards but he also loves people, being around them, observing them, it's amusing and this place is totally cramping his style with its designs. Though right now, he's alright, maybe it won't be as bad as he thinks. How naive the optimistic can be.
The air shifts a little, Takao is too observant to not notice there is some unspoken something in that statement. He could poke, he is not going to poke, right now poking feels like poking a literal beast because the information has yet to be a good thing here. Except for trading cards, those are cool.
"That bad, huh? No chance of getting out of it?" Great, just great. Maybe he can build an underground bunker and bury himself.
no subject
The specific changes are kind of awkward for him to elaborate on, so as long as Takao doesn't ask the nitty-gritty details he's going to pass on volunteering specific information about things like heat cycles and self-lubricating asses with a guy he barely knows. Even if he isn't a virgin or really a prude it's still a kind of mortifying topic.
He also has to shake his head to dash Takao's hopes. "But yeah, there's no weaseling out of it. Sure, sometimes you get lucky and nothing happens during that time, but sooner or later you're probably going to have a lot of the effects manifest."
no subject
Again, he will be grateful, this is working out because yeah, the specifics are going to be hard enough coming from someone he knows. Coming from a guy who he knows of or knows adjacent maybe? Well, he knows who he is and has played against him so that's something. Still not at the level of discussing lubricating assholes yet. They can bond over light novels and trading cards before any of that.
"I was afraid you were going to say that." Sure maybe some times he will get off lucky, but if he is counting all his luck since he got here. Takao has hit the negative on his luck meter, he needs to find his lucky item stat. Where's a horoscope when you need one. He must be losing it, he is turning into Shin-chan. Lucky items, he actually snickers at himself "Lucky items, like that, is going to help me"
Never mind him Mayuzumi, he is having a moment.
no subject
Mayuzumi takes Takao's reaction to his situation in stride; if anything, it's better than Akashi's was. He turns the page in his book, considering how to respond for a moment.
"...I guess the best advice I can give is that it'd probably be a good idea to find someone you can really trust who's willing to help you out if it gets bad," he says. He's seen firsthand how vulnerable someone deep in the throes of Iris heat can be; if it were him he'd sure balk at letting a stranger or someone he wasn't really comfortable with see him like that.
He doesn't say it out loud, but the topic of lucky items points to the obvious: Midorima would probably do it if Takao asked him. As prickly as the guy can be Mayuzumi knows that Midorima's not a bad guy at heart and will go out of his way to help his friends even if he turns into a total tsundere cliche about it.
Of course, he doesn't know if that would be on the table from Takao's end. Mayuzumi was fine with that, but his partnership with Akashi was in a much different place after their stint in that other world together than it was when he graduated from Rakuzan and went off to university. Synchronizing plays on a basketball court and even just being pals doesn't mean being willing to jump into getting that intimate...
no subject
"You're the first familiar face I've seen." Translation, dude he thinks he is kind of screwed at this point. Yes, he would very much like to find someone he can trust to help him through his Iris crap.
At the same time, he is not sure what amount of time this place will allow him to make that sort of connection so he can have that sort of person in his life. Too bad there was no way to wish something of that nature into existence. Mayuzumi is right, if Takao went to Midorima the other wouldn't let him suffer.
The problem will be, those two will have to get over their embarrassment about all this first. Because friendships, partnerships, and moons are going to make for interesting combinations. They are both closer than either of them admit out loud and half the time to themselves.
