A first big 'n successful round of apps has concluded and the game is getting off to a roll - since there are always brains to be picked and new pals and acquaintances to be made, how's about we all play a little getting-to-know-you game?

Keaton from Fire Emblem: Fates is my first big-are-pee-game character in years. Between writing my own threads and reading the threads of my buddies, I've been having a blast!

Everyone's favorite big sister, Camilla. With her genes, Velouria becomes even more of a tank, IMO. I'd wipe entire boards with her and Keaton alone. MY LITTLE BABY, OFF TO DESTROY PEOPLE.

GOD the furry daughters were so good, I didn't go for Camilla so I didn't know that particular majesty but Velouria and Selkie were both consistently basically my MVPs.

Fates: We've got a loveable cast of lunatics. And you can marry one of them.

Sold. What other Fire Emblem games have you played? I just spent the last hourworking on Awakening.

Right? I personally prefer the matchmaking aspect to the "you can marry one" aspect but.

Anyway Awakening is very good! It's the one that actually really got me into the series actually. I tried FE7 back when it first came out for the GBA but the fact that people die when they are killed made me nervous so I didn't get back into it again until they introduced casual mode, hahaha. I've played Echoes too, and I've read through LPs of 6, 8, 11, and 12.

A Forest Dark, which was a small-ish teamnesia game. Before that was ye olde Camp Fuck You Die/CFUD, about six years back. How about you?

Oh damn, CFUD is a name I haven't heard in a LONG time. I've been in a lot of games on and off, but my "main" ones over the years were Adstringendum, Cape and Cowl, Sirens Pull, and The Box.

Mostly I've been living under a rock and enjoying the threads of my friends in the games that they've played over the years. Enough to stave off the bug for a while, but never completely. I'm actually doing one of my final term papers on moderated roleplay communities and their relation to digital feminisms, so hey! Threads are homework now! Kinda! Not even actually remotely, but still!

Oh man that's so cool!! I finished university last year and part of me kinda-sorta regrets not doing some kind of analysis on online communities, especially because I took a ton of film classes that would have allowed me to.

Being a relative newbie to the hobby myself, I'm interested to know: what drew you to Prismatica as a returning-to-RP game?

the graphic design I have several friends on my plurk list that were excited about the TDM and their apps, so I checked it out and decided I'd like to be in on the ground floor, so to speak.

Longer than I thought, honestly, because I was thinking about it after I made that relative newbie comment (because I play with a lot of people who've been in LJRP/DWRP for 10+ years, hence the "relative") and I realised I'm coming up on four years here myself, so. Whoops. I'm definitely no longer actually new, but I still feel a bit new compared to a lot of others.

I've wanted to play Keaton for a few years, but this journal has been around for, uh. Two weeks. Whoops. I'm just glad one of my two top choices for usernames had gone unclaimed for the entire time I've spent waffling over finally unleashing his furry fury on the world. I've been down and out for the last month due to a flu-graduated-to-pneumonia and had pretty much fuck-all to do with my time besides sit in front of a computer and try to make pretty icons.

GRAPHIC DESIGN IS MY WaY Of LiFe FOUR YEARS IS NOT INCONSIDERABLE. It just means you got to bypass the awkward transition from LJ and worrying whether we'd break Dreamwidth's servers and skipped right to having confidence that it won't fall around our ears overnight. Which was your first game?

Meanwhile, I'm replaying Awakening and watching Henry murder everything that so much as blinks at him. HENRY IS A GOOD (???) EGG.

I played m!Corrin and married Niles. Harvest Moon/Rune Factory have denied me same-sex marriage for years; I seized my opportunity, gosh dang it. Who's you stick Henry with?

A CLASSIC CHOICE. tbh when i replay i should do that just because. as for awakening, i stuck henry with lissa! though i really would've loved to go with olivia, just because i love WHAT A TOTAL AND UTTER BEAN he becomes later on after marrying her. ;~; (but she's really too good for him lbr.)

My Henry is still undecided if only because keeping Olivia safe from the marauding bands of Literally Everyone to raise her supports can be a bit of a chore. Inigo with Henry as a father would... be an interesting choice. Poor Inigo.

I saw you got asked about supports with Keaton, but were there any others you really liked reading besides his?

WHY, YES. ODIN IS SUCH AN EXTRA, I love him. He did little for me in Awakening. but he took a Serious Level when he switched out his costume for one with mesh. Bless his little magic heart.

Okay, it's a typical question I'm sure, but-- Keaton seems to be a phenomenally popular character, especially given that he's (to my understanding) a secondary character in his own canon.

As someone mostly canonblind, what's got everyone so in love with him?

SUCH A VALID QUESTION. As far as I can tell, it's his "joie de vivr," so to speak, and his wrecking ball-esque stats in the game. Compared to a cast of equally (imo) interesting characters with plot-relevant backstories and personal histories with other main characters, Keaton practically appears out of thin air. Due to his amazing stats, though, he usually becomes a main fixture in the player's army after some minor leveling. In Conquest and Revelations, both Keaton and his daughter are MURDER MACHINES. It's hard not to get attached to someone that saves your proverbial bacon so many dang times.

How would Keaton react against other Laguz like Nailah?

I'd like to think he'd have an immediate respect for her position and fighting prowess. She looks like a wolf that can thoroughly kick his ass, and even if his pride chafes a bit at that, he can appreciate that level of power in a leader. His questions to her, in order of appearance and importance:

- Can we join forces for a hunt?
- Can we fight? May the toughest wolf win!
- Do you want to smell this really neat bit of rotting wood I found in the woods the other day?
