You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

Oh my god, they're back again. After taking more than a year-long hiatus, *BTSB (Backstay Sailor Boys) takes the planet by storm once more with their latest single, Anybody (Yeah). With an album out and a concert on the way, the five-man fox Prismal group from Amegahara has been busy with promotions. Their appearances on billboard ads, magazines, TV shows, et cetera make their worldwide handsome faces pretty hard to miss! Everyone and their pet robot in Lunatia can be found jamming to their songs, and every teenager on the street can tell you who their bias is and why.

B Be a part of *BTSB's Prismagram campaign and get a chance to win a physical copy of their album and backstage passes to their upcoming concert! Simply take a picture of you and your friends with official merchandise and post it on Prismagram with the hashtag #WeAreBTSB. Be careful, though: touching *BTSB merchandise tends to make people crush on the first face they see. The posts with the best pictures and stories will get their prizes in the mail on the 24th.

Why would a Moonblessed want to meet them, you ask? Community spirit! A sizable portion of the locals will start singing or dancing with you and your friends! “I want it another way. Tell me why? I never want to hear you say, I wish it wasn't that way. Don't be that way!” Play along and they’ll be willing to pardon your unpaid meal tab for one time or offer an incredible discount for one item you really wanted at the mall. The boys are also considered talented magic users in their own right. They might have some spells and magic tools to add to a Moonblessed's arsenal!

▶ What’s the Deal With This Pop Life?

Before you meet these foxy boys, you'll want to do your research on them. Thankfully, their ridiculously huge fanbase (who refer to themselves as NAVY) has already done the work for you.

Suzaku is the leader and the brains of the group. Both his witty, rapid-fire raps and lightning-fast spinning breakdances are known throughout the planet. He is also a newscaster and likes making informative but interesting Prismagram posts. His brother is also an idol, albeit a washed up one-hit wonder.

Kaya is the group's down-to-earth mom friend and soulful vocals. He is the most responsible of the boys and handles their meals and laundry. A former delinquent in his youth, he now spends his free time cooking for schoolchildren and advocating fox rights. He does not support fox pelt products and owns an animal shelter for strays.

Lecter is a dancer who oozes with sex appeal. If not in the studio, he is always hitting up the gym. Once a member of the Little Moonblessings Club in his childhood, he has grown out of his boy-next-door image. Currently, he is #2 on Prismal Magazine's Top 100 Sexiest Men Alive for his well-built frame and photogenic looks. Contrary to his cool appearance and reserved demeanor, he is surprisingly personable. He is also a prolific actor. He likes cats.

Tarn is the baby of the group who maintains a gaming channel. He often does spontaneous livestreams where he does Let’s Play sessions, live Q&As, and encourages people to make memes of his face. He jokes about playing more LmaO than going to practice but he’s got clear and strong vocals.

Rasha is a narcissistic man who can’t get enough of his fans and himself. When hanging around his fans, he tends to ask if they have a mirror to look at himself with. Don’t let his vanity fool you! He’s funny, incredibly easy to be with, and willing to treat people to drinks. He writes most of the lyrics for the group’s songs.

C Every hour, you will receive a text from the official *BTSB fanclub with a link to a poll. The texts will not stop unless you answer the poll. Please answer it ICly, as the answers will affect the event later this month!

[ soubi’s silence is better. the longer they walk in it, the more relaxed seimei can feel—without needing to anticipate any more unwanted defenses of ritsuka. seimei knows ritsuka is good. soubi is not the one to tell him that.

only when they arrive in the building that seimei was initially assigned does he decide to speak to soubi again. ]

[ like he’s remembering something, as he lets them in. ]

I hope you were paying attention. Like I said, you live here now.

[Soubi has rarely preferred to speak. With Kio, who was talkative already, it was just part of their friendship. With Ritsuka, he just always found himself talking more. But with Seimei, silence had always been better. Seimei had never liked him talking much. It wasn't bad. It was a lot like Ritsu who had told him that he was better seen and never heard. Silence was simple.

But when need be...]

Yes, I remember and thank you again.

Good.

[ before soubi gets the chance to even think about taking off his shoes in the foyer, however, seimei stops him. ]

Oh, I wonder if I need house rules? No dogs on the furniture, and that sort of thing.

I would like to have some.

[Which sounds weird and anybody who would hear this would probably think so. Was it a good idea to have some? Yes but Soubi wanted to be controlled. That's all this was about.

But it was also good to have clear guidelines when it came to Seimei. Sometimes they may change but a semblance of order was useful when dealing with him.]

[ seimei is glad to hear it, not that he expected anything different of soubi. for all that they’ve done together, living under the same roof is different. at least these apartments, luckily, are adapted for a few people. ]

[ he holds a finger to his mouth, thinking. ]

I’ll clean. [ how generous. how straightforward. ] Of course, I expect you to clean up after yourself, but I have a standard I like… I don’t mind keeping it.

[Soubi wouldn't say he's messy. Really, Ritsu had never stood for even a moment of laziness. Soubi could clean but mostly he learned to never be messy.

But even Soubi could not keep up with what Seimei would expect and he knew that.]

Okay. I will not be unclean. [Although he knows by just existing, he already is that by Seimei's standards.]

Haha, you sound like a robot.

[ for a moment, if someone overheard the conversation, they might be inclined to think seimei and soubi are friends. seimei’s tone is conversational, just close enough to teasing that he could almost mean it. ]

—which reminds me. [ because robots don’t need to eat, but soubi does. ] You can cook, but I really can’t stand the smell of food I’m not eating. Please don’t make anything that will linger for a long time.

[ please, he says, like it’s an option. ]

[Kio had told him he behaved like a ghost sometimes. Robot seemed similar and it doesn't really affect him. Really, it's better Seimei is laughing at him than anything.]

Understood. Can I paint in my room? [He knows there is no way he would be able to paint anywhere else and if Seimei allows this then it would be a blessing.

Painting is really the only thing he can do to keep his mind off of anything. It's all he wants to ask for.]

Hmm? You ask like I was going to tell you no.

[ seimei smiles.

without a doubt, he’s gotten less careful about his mature, thoughtful persona. that’s what months of death will do to a person. ]

You have the same rules as cooking. I don’t want to smell your paints.

[This Seimei is different in ways that Soubi isn't quite sure of. Maybe it's because they seem to be from different times and there's details Soubi just can't know.

And can't ask about.

Or maybe there was some distance between them now after Seimei left and Soubi had grown closer to Ritsuka. Maybe him and Seimei had never been close, or if Seimei had been to anybody barring his brother, but they had been a good unit. Perfect.

He just had to work hard to get back to that.]

I’ll let you know if I think of anything else.

[ then, and only then, does seimei let soubi actually come inside. he hops out of his shoes, and the light comes on automatically when it senses motion. ]

It’s nice, isn’t it?

[ it’s sterile, if anything. just the way seimei likes it. ]

[It looks absolutely unlived in. There's no personality to it at all.

But Soubi knows that back in their world, his apartment could have been considered the same. Only his painting set-up gave away any personality. The same would probably be said of his room in this apartment as well.]

[ seimei doesn’t even consider giving a rule about having friends over. soubi does not make friends, and even if he did, he should know viscerally better than to bring them into seimei’s space. ]

You won’t have to be alone.

[ his tail swishes behind him, almost playful. ]

I know how you get.

[Since he had lived with Ritsu, he had always been alone. Ritsu had never wanted him to make friends and it wasn't like any of the other students had liked Soubi. Or that Soubi had tried to be liked.

Kio was the only one stubborn enough to want to be his friend.

But it was still lonely. Having nobody.]

I just want to paint.

[That's all he really knew. That and fighting.]

You can paint.

[ seimei has given soubi his permission, if not precisely his blessing, and that seems to be the end of that. in some way or another. ]

Do you have any money with you? [ seimei’s own chroma reserves are painfully low. he has a little demichroma, but in terms of the more potent currency, he’s broke. ] You ought to go grocery shopping.

[Whenever people had tried to make friends with him in school, usually he told them he just wanted to paint. Dealing with people, making friends...it was hard. In the end, Seimei had granted him the one thing he could do.

Which could potentially bode well for their money situation.]

I don't have any money. I know I need a job but...[He's never been able to keep one. He's usually fired within the first week. But if he has to support Seimei then he better do it.]

I'll get one.

[ seimei is very aware that soubi can’t work, but things are different in this place. they’re a little more lenient toward moonblessed, considering their ability to generate chroma. surely soubi can bring something home. ]

I have a little. Open up your ChromaMeter app.

[ a generous master. ]

[At this point, Soubi knows that whatever money he earns will go to Seimei. In the end, everything belongs to Seimei.

And it's comforting. In a way. Not to have to own anything himself. Not even his own free will is his.

He does as Seimei tells him.]

[ it really isn’t much. seimei has only incidentally made chroma here and there, and demichroma isn’t easy to come by either. it’s enough for him to have been eating so far, however, and he transfers a portion of his remaining savings to soubi. ]

You should know how to shop.

[ soubi can cook. seimei knows this. ]

Oh, but I do want some potato chips. Other than that, get whatever you want.

[Potato chips. If this were Ritsuka, he would say it wasn't good for him. But he knows if he dares to say anything then Seimei will get upset.] What flavor?

[The last thing he needs to do is get the wrong one.

He knows that Seimei doesn't like to eat homemade food and so whatever he makes, Seimei won't eat it. It helps in some ways. Soubi doesn't need to eat a lot, usually doesn't, and so he can mostly focus on things that Seimei would eat.

Although he likes to cook and so that's the bad side to all of this. In the end, he knows he can get things that Seimei will eat. This shouldn't be too difficult.]

If they have consommé, I’ll take that. Otherwise, plain is fine.

[ it’s such a normal conversation. it’s almost like something that could pass between friends. ]

The food here is a little different from what I’m used to. [ casual, casual. ] I recognize a lot of it, but then there are some ingredients I’ve never heard of. It’s taken a lot of getting used to.

[ he misses japanese food, which is not something he ever really thought he would think. ]

[Soubi still isn't sure what he's going to do about food when it comes to Seimei. Especially if the food here isn't food that Seimei is used to. That definitely means that Soubi may not know what he's dealing with.

And this just sounds like he's dealing with a picky child. Ritsuka had been easier to feed than this.]

If there's foods you miss that you can't get here then maybe I can recreate them...

[Seimei will say no. He hates anything handmade but he has to offer.]

Soubi, you’ll spoil me.

[ which is to say, he doesn’t need a thing from soubi’s dirty hands. at least not until cordis strikes and he changes his mind, but even he doesn’t yet anticipate that kind of need. ]

Take care of yourself first. I know you’re not very good at it, so that’s an order.

[Even Soubi can read between the lines for that one. Not that he expected Seimei to let him.

And he had definitely expected that order as well. It was a common one for him to hear. It's really one of the orders he doesn't like. Taking care of himself required far too much effort than he wanted to give.

But he only nods.]

I will. I won't cause any problems.

[Which is what this is actually about.]

[ seimei has no complaints about that. it’s been a rocky start, and he imagines soubi will continue to make things difficult for him in the coming days, but seimei will set him on the right path once again. ]

Then we have nothing else to talk about.

[ he waves, dismissing soubi. ]
