▶ TDM .011

You awaken amidst the darkness with only a faint light to greet you. Your body is hemmed in by shards of crystals, gently sparkling and possibly pricking your skin. The surrounding landscape is dyed in the pinks and purples of the dusk filled with crystals protruding from the ground, some as large as a skyscraper. After an hour or two of wandering through the crystal wilderness, a group of people find you worse for wear. They are the gallant Moon Knights from the planet of Prismatica. Because of the strange phenomena during the past months when scientists observed the sudden appearance of rainbow crystals in the sky, the government has been feverishly combing through the moon for more Moonblessed to be rescued. You’ll eventually be brought into Iris’s moon government center.

You all may have your usual inquiries — Where are we? Who are you? What's going on? — and the Prismals are almost too eager to answer. They tell you about their world and about the first appearance of the Moonblessed as the medical staff give you an examination to make sure you’re not carrying any viruses or biological hazards. If you react violently, you may be restrained and nerfed with a specialized neurotransmitting gun that releases a numbing agent through the top of your spine. Once the examinations are over, you’re informed that you will be provided accommodations on their planet during your stay. You will then be escorted to the docks, and led onto a large transport vessel that makes frequent trips back and forth between the Iris moon and the planet. Faces onboard vary from both old and new Moonblessed as well as the local Prismals.

The next destination: Prismatica.

There and Back Again
Iris Moon, Government Center (Arrival) and Planet Prismatica, City of Lunatia | top

Welcome to Prismatica’s hub, Lunatia, the city of your dreams! A bustling metropolis lush with bright lights, vibrant colors, luxuriant plant life, and all the conveniences of technology absent from your own world… It seems like paradise to all the uninitiated. After a quick tour of the city, new arrivals can find themselves getting cozy in their new homes.

A  Settle in your new home at Level 2 to find new roommates and say hello to your neighbors! City officials will give you directions to the designated districts across Level 2 and instruct you to pick out a unit. Each apartment complex has a different aesthetic, some may look cozy, some stylish, and some bizarre. The free accommodations have a basic living space that can only fit two or three people at most in one unit.

Starter Chromaspace furnishings are provided which can be controlled with the touch of a built-in panel. Examples are color-changing curtains, transforming sofa beds, cabinets turning into tables, etc. Customizing your apartment or moving out will have to wait until you earn more chroma. Until then, why don’t you check out your new neighborhood or explore the city levels? Maybe your new roommates or neighbors can give you a “hand” with allowance for dinner.

B  As a Remooning gift from the Lunar Scientia Headquarters, the dedicated team from the Amphoria Room has released their latest perfected technology: Amphoria Pods. These VR Pods, which can fit up to four people at a time, have been set up in the gaming hub within Level 1’s PrismaPlace. They allow users to upload sceneries of their world in order to create a realistic holographic landscape of their homes that others can access and play around with, granting everyone the means to relive past memories with their loved ones as well as interact with the bestiary of other worlds. The pods also use the same technology that enhanced the popular virtual game, League Match Action Online (LmaO), which means you’re liable to feel the chill of cold environments, the burning heat from boiling water, the hard slap of your ex-lover, or the biting sting of a stray wasp. All who use the Amphoria Pods for the first time this year will also receive a small amount of Chroma in case things get too real.

God Save Us from the Queen
Level 1, PrismaPlace and Level 2, Greatmoon Groves | top

The first month of the year is packed with two of the most important winter events this season: Queen Elara’s birthday and the League Match Action Online (LmaO) PVP semi-finals. It just so happens that the Queen of Lunatia is also a huge LmaO fan. Coincidence? Definitely not! LmaO players and royal family fans alike can meet her at PrismaPlace, where she will be appearing in cosplay of her favorite hero, Ah-Kari, while holding a body pillow of Commander GareBear. You, too, can get an autograph or selfie with the birthday girl if you’re willing to fall in line! Her bodyguards will also be in LmaO cosplay, keeping the crowd under control during the long wait.

Queen Elara

Good day to you all! This may come as a surprise to our guests the Moonblessed, but I am a normal person despite my exalted position. Please do not think of me today as Queen Elara. Instead... my name is Ah-Kari, sorceress of the crystal! With my soul fan blades, through the darkness, I shall slice all who dare hurt my commander in twain!

But when she is not meeting and greeting...

Queen Elara

My comrades, we're going to make history today. We're going for a new record. Perhaps the highest kill counts or the fastest clear for this map — it matters not. We’ve practiced day and night for this tournament, so let us show everyone that we’re not to be taken lightly! Also, the livestream is going in the royal archive, so make your successors proud!!

... she will be furiously grinding her character and training her skills in LmaO in the hopes of qualifying for the finals. Spectators will see her bring her own team full of hapless palace attendants who are there to either serve as her practice match partners or provide support to the one-woman army that is Queen Elara.

PrismaPlace is packed with giant crowds, many of them also in cosplay. While the semi-finals are taking place, new and old LmaO players alike can participate in the game’s current campaign: players who form teams get an improved chance of spawning unique monsters as well as winning rare items and skins in those prized lootboxes! Teams can also try to clear the event’s story together, featuring an aerial battle fought on griffin-back, which is heavily inspired by the popular Lunatian epic, The Battle of Abraxas, a colorful and complex story about the conflict between two families fighting over the fictional land of griffins, Abraxas.

A  Progression in the event requires acquiring a griffin mount and getting it ready for battle. You can lure a wild one to yourself with a special veggie pie on a fishing pole. Should the griffin reject the lure, your character will be caught in a wind gaol and can only break out with the help of other players. Should you succeed, raising the griffin is a tedious task that involves players training alongside their respective griffins, running laps with them, taking them to hunt monsters, and feeding them properly. Depending on their diet, the food you give them will affect the color of its plumage and their battle stats.

Or you can skip the hard work and simply moonlace with your teammates through all the progression bars and required materials to save time. Once finished, you’ll be able to battle one another through the thunderous aerial domain of Abraxas. Clearing the event will net you an event-exclusive skin inspired by the royal family’s shining celestial robes and a weapon skin of a body pillow with your favorite character, so do your best!

B  In celebration of Queen Elara’s birthday, the office of the royal household is hosting a modest tea party in the Greatmoon Groves. Swiffy bots that are normally programmed to remind visitors to keep the groves clean are now playing a birthday jingle on repeat. For people who prefer to be away from the blinding neon lights and the thumping techno music of PrismaPlace, this is the ideal escape. Unlimited tea and cookies are being served!

The tea is a soft-colored lilac concoction made from Ehrysian tea leaves that are known to cause a huge spike of alertness and is popular to Moon Knights and office workers with long night shifts as well as gamers for those all-night grinding sessions. The assorted cookies have either Ah-Kari or Commander GareBear printed on them. In case it isn't obvious yet, both are the birthday girl’s favorite LmaO characters.

Any Moonblessed looking for extra income is welcome to be royal attendants for the day; the hours are paid by Demichroma. They must be properly dressed up as maids or butlers (outfits provided by the royal household) as they serve tables.

Say Cheese
Level 3, Caihong | top

Meanwhile, Caihong is in the midst of Remooning festivities in celebration of the new year, and merriment usually lasts a fortnight, filled with fireworks in the sky. Upon entering the district, beautiful Prismals with rat ears and tails greet you with a Happy Remooning and eagerly tug you along to join in.

Those welcomed will receive a pack of multi-colored sparklers, mooncakes topped with cheese, and a glowing drink called Champagne Supernova, poured in a thin glass in your hand. If you are over eighteen, the rat Prismals will ask if you prefer your drink with a kick. If you say yes, then they will add flavorful ice that causes extreme intoxication and might leave you to be susceptible to all levels of suggestion. Saying no (or if you’re under 18) will simply leave it as a sweet drink.

A  One of the party games being played by the locals is called Lucky Tail, which is basically pinning the tail on the holographic rat stand-in — with a twist, it must be played with a partner! Another participant will blindfold you, spin you around, then push you forward. The stand-in is located at the end of unsteady elevated platforms forming a maze, filled to the brim with distracting objects underneath. They’re long, they’re thick, and they’re vibrating furiously in an attempt to knock you off the platforms.

Your partner must guide you by voice to successfully navigate through the maze! The game is rigged with various mechanisms, so stepping on specific platforms will activate a number of traps against you or your partner: machines that may tickle, drop colorful slime, or cause the platform to repetitively spin, and who knows what else?

Should you manage to get through the obstacle course and pin the tail successfully, you and your partner will win copious amounts of Demichroma, courtesy of Buwan from Buwan’s Stop.

B  Another attraction is a fun magic glamour booth known for its face or body swap features. The booth staff, clad in their festive rat paraphernalia, will encourage you and your friends to take aesthetic shots using an illusion generator. The effects last an hour. Photographed images can be instantly uploaded and shared in Prismagram. New year, new you! Why not take the chance to celebrate this momentous occasion in a unique fashion? It’s all in good humor.

There are two buttons to press: (A) CUSTOM or (B) RANDOM. Pressing A will allow participants to customize their desired effects. Pressing B will cause the illusion magic to randomly rearrange participants in questionable positions, new outfits (or lack thereof), and you may even come out of the booth looking like your best friend or your worst rival. The possibilities are endless!

There and Back Again

[A]

[Shadow was not one to just take all of this at face value, even as he puts up a front of following along. This, of course, includes acting like he's going to live in one of the apartments that are being offered.]

Hrmph. [Of course that doesn't mean he has to be happy about it, and the grumpy three foot three hedgehog is probably (most likely) poking his head into occupied rooms as well. And without so much of a hello.]

Say Cheese

[A]

[The food was... interesting, and Shadow had been dragged into this celebration since he is not what one would call a party animal. But after a sip or two of the offered drink? He's most easily talked into partaking in the Lucky Tail game, but since he's going solo here that means he's paired with someone at random.

Pity whoever he's paired with.]

So who is going to be blindfolded then? [Depending on his partners answer, he might just be up for it.]

Wild Card
[Find the black and red hedgehog anywhere, being a sulky grump! Or maybe catch him after some of that suggestive drink and thus catch him in a better mood. Or make up your own thing, I'm cool with whatever.]

Arrival
[ Waking surrounded by crystal was unsettling enough but by the time he'd been collected, Scott was more than ready to find some real answers. Arriving at the government center has him relaxing, at least a little, his gaze taking in the building before he's distracted by the explanation and medical exam.

That definitely has him on edge, but once he's free to wander, he sets out to explore, finally locating the cafeteria after a few false starts. And food is something he's definitely interested in so he'll be piling a tray high before finding a table. ]

Mind if I sit here?

There and back again (A)

[ The apartment was at least convenient, Scott pausing once he's inside the door, taking in the furnishings before he moves to check the bedrooms and see which one is available, knocking lightly on one of the other doors and giving a faintly sheepish smile when it opens. ]

Hi, I'm Scott. [ Because that explains everything, really. ]

God Save Us From the Queen B

All things considered, the option of working to earn some Chroma is more appealing than the other options he's seen, the quiet attracting him more than the city itself. He's learned to filter the noise, but some time in a more outdoorsy area will do him some good and he's used to working. The suit is nicer than anything he owned before and Scott moves from table to table, delivering refills of food and drink.

Would you like a fresh cup?

Wildcard Scenario at me.

Jin Ling | The Untamed | Iris

[personal profile] inheritedpain 2020-01-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
00. Arrival

[ It's the barking, that wakes him up. The barking, and then the feeling of a wet nose pressing insistently against his cheek. He doesn't open his eyes yet - he feels far too uncomfortable - and instead blindly reaches out with a hand for the familiar side of his dog, Fairy. Usually Fairy is way better behaved than this (far more behaved than Jin Ling himself), so after a moment he cracks his eyes open to frown at the pup. ]

What's gotten into y--

[ He cuts off when his surroundings filter into his brain. Wait. Where the hell is he?

He sits up abruptly, crystal pieces scattering around him as he does so, the hair on the back of his neck rising with every second. Bad. This is bad? ]

Fairy, where are we?

[ It's a rhetorical question, of course, as he struggles to get up, grabbing his sword from where it lay beside him and kicking at some of the crystal shards scattered on the ground. This is wrong. This is wrong. When he fell asleep, he was still in Lanling. And now--

He drew his sword from its sheathe, scowling as he turned around quickly on the spot, eyes narrowed as he scanned the endless expanse of purple dust. ]

Show yourself! [ He yelled into the darkness, brandishing his sword. Someone, or something had brought him here. He was sure of that. ]

01. There and Back Again: A

[ The last 24 hours have been a suspicious whirl wind of helpful people and gifts - up to and including an entire apartment. They would probably be more welcome if Jin Ling had any real concept of where he was or why he was here, but despite everyone trying to tell him, he's mostly just yelled at people to shut up when they've made him too confused. He's starting to get the gist of it, though.

He is somewhere very far from home, with people very strange, as if they walked out of fairy tales. People who look like demons or half creatures and yet go about their daily lives as much as anyone else. Magic light that makes the entire night gleam with neon colours, strange devices that glow and blink and beep at him.

He has been pretending for the last several hours that of course he knows what All Of These Things Do and that he knows Exactly Where He Is, Thank You Very Much, but it's starting to get more than a little overwhelming.

The apartment grants him brief respite. At least here, for a moment, he and Fairy are alone. Well, not for long, apparently.

The moment someone else walks into the room, he's drawing his sword and pointing it threateningly at the door. Because, well, this is definitely how you greet new roommates. ]

02. There and Back Again: B

[ He avoided the pods, at first. With no real grasp for how the technology worked, he can't help but find the concept of walking to a box and hallucinating about another place anything but unnerving. But a few days of homesickness have made the concept a lot more attractive.

He's still hemming and hawing, though, pacing outside of the area with his sword, his brows knitted tightly. Whether he's debating on where he should go - (Lanling? Yunmeng?) - or whether he's trying to talk himself out of it, again, is unclear. At his heels, Fairy paces happily with him, convinced that this is a game that just hasn't been explained to her yet. He finally comes to a stop and frowns down at her. ]

It's not real. What does it matter if I go or not? This is stupid.

03. Say Cheese: A

[ To say that Jin Ling has a competitive streak a mile wide may be something of an understatement. He doesn't even really know what this challenge is, all he knows is that he wants to win it. With a half eaten mooncake in one hand, and a glass of sweet drink in the other (he wanted a kick but they kept telling him he was too young - stupid!!), he glares at the administrator. ]

What do you mean, I can't do it by myself! I could beat anyone here, hands down, ten times over! Even with three blindfolds on! Just let me in!

04. Say Cheese: B

[ For once in his life, Jin Ling actually seems to be in a good mood. Maybe the party has worn him down a bit, or maybe it's because he's finally found some familiar faces, or made some new friends. The poor souls that get counted in that illustrious group will find themselves approached by a smug, swaggering boy with a lopsided grin on his lips. ]

Come on! Let's do the glamour booth! Or are you just worried that I'll come out better looking than you?

Nie Mingjue - The Untamed - Sanguis

[personal profile] chifengzun 2020-01-08 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
GOD SAVE US FROM THE QUEEN [B]

[ Ever since setting foot in this strange land, Nie Mingjue hasn't liked any of it. Not one bit. After spending a night in this place, he's decided that this is either actually happening or it's very powerful magic. Whichever one, there was nothing else he could do except keep his eyes open and remain vigilant.

The party for the Queen's birthday was a perfect opportunity to do both. Or so he thought.

When Mingjue first heard of this strategic war game, he could admit that he was interested. But it, uh... quickly left him behind. The jargon and... everything was still beyond him. So he left the strange sights and entered the royal tea party instead, a scene that was at least somewhat familiar to him. Bit rude for the hostess to not be present for this event, but... the land was (again) strange, so he was just going to let that slide for now.

About two minutes and half a cup of purple tea later, his eyes have never been wider. His arm shoots out, grabbing the first servant to pass him by the collar. ]

What. Is. In. This.

[ Is he angry? Does he want more? It's a mystery. ]

SAY CHEESE [A]

[ Despite himself, Nie Mingjue was eating on the provided mooncakes. So far, they haven't done anything to him yet... The best way to test out ill side-effects, he decided, was to just try them for himself. Not the best solution, but the mooncakes were quite good so far.

He was in the middle of one when he came across the... game? Some fool with no spiritual power was relying completely on their partner to make it across the obstacle course. It was effective, to be honest. Built teamwork, trust, and reliance on senses beyond sight. The execution, however, left much to be desired.

Someone approached his side carrying a black blindfold. Mingjue instantly dropped the cake, his hand flying to Baxia's hilt as he glared at the newcomer. ]

Do not touch me with that.

Arrival

[ ...well. This was certainly not what he expected waking up. It definitely wasn't as comfortable as Aigis' lap and she's made of metal. But he supposed crystals weren't too far off. Just really pointy in some places. He laid there for a few more moments, testing arms and legs that were extremely lethargic only what felt like a moment prior. The intense fatigue wasn't felt, although he did feel tired still. It just wasn't as severe as it was before he fell asleep.

Finally, Makoto made the effort to sit up. His Gekkoukan attire was a little roughed up but otherwise he was unharmed, his Evoker (surprisingly) was at his side. That was new. Alrigght --]

Time to get up, I guess.

[ Wake up and get out there. whoops wrong Persona game ]

There and Back Again

[ Hands in his pockets and music faintly blasting through his earphones, Makoto stared a bit in disbelief at the empty before him. So he just... picks an empty place and viola, it's his? He felt like there was a catch of some kind. He had been moved around enough in his life to know that there usually was. Not that he was naturally distrusting, just that it was a fact of life. Still, with what he had learned, he also couldn't help but figure that taking a leap of faith wouldn't hurt.

There were worse things, after all. And money was easy to come by here. So, Makoto took that step and walked inside. It didn't look like anyone lived here so perhaps this really was an empty space. So, he took the time to place around with some of the settings, changing the colors and designs of the house. Perhaps the impromptu light show caught your eye?

Otherwise, later on, Makoto found himself checking out the Amphoria Pods where he simply sat on top of a school's rooftop. He laid down on one of he stone seats, earphones still over his ears and the spring breeze blowing through the area. Even if he never saw his friends again, the memories were quite precious. He didn't dare program the machine to actually reproduce them. His last memory of them was a bit too heartbreaking to try and recall and, should he be disturbed, Makoto would rather keep it to himself. He reached up to catch a sakura petal blowing in the breeze. ]

...you're all so precious to me.

[ And he hoped they were doing well now. ]

There and Back Again:

The phrase of "Be Careful What You Wish For" has never felt so true to her before now.

The excitement and troubles of her first arrival causes her to feel completely worn out. She wanted nothing more than to hide away in her home and never come out again. She was tired of dealing with humans and she is not at all sorry for scratching at one when they grabbed her.

First things first, she will flop unto the bed, not realizing that she may or may not have roommates. She just wanted to rest up a little before dealing with this whole new world. After resting, will come eating... Goddess, she doesn't know how long it has been since she last ate food.

Say Cheese:

While it might be normal for people to be enjoying the fireworks and drinks, enjoying the colors and the loud sounds each firework makes.....

.... Not the resident bird princess....

With each loud bang and loud crackle, Leanne let out either a shriek/squeak/yelp of terror as she didn't understand what was going on or happening. While trying to keep a brave face, her wings betrayed her the most as they would suddenly flare out behind her and poof out completely, not realizing if she has accidentally hit someone with a face full of wings and feathers.

She cannot escape this attack and there was no one she could really cling to for protection from this strange threat. Someone, please save her.

[ So, Ryza's a little lost in this Lunatia city place, and she's entirely unused to her surroundings — she's a country girl, or more accurately, an island girl, with little access to the outside world aside from her travels onto the mainland. And even then, her world doesn't quite have this sort of look or technology to it, aside from what she can glass about the Klint Kingdom.

Regardless, she's having a good time exploring anyway, but considering she's starting to get hungry and she can't make heads or tails of where she can find a restaurant (or even some greenery to make food out of), she decides to reach out to someone, literally, and put a hand on their arm. ]

Hey, could you tell me where— ah!

[ Is that her ice magic accidentally happening and making a small layer of crackling ice on your arm? Probably. Okay, yes. It is. Oops. ]

[ two ]

[ She's managed to find her way into the VR, and created a world based around her memory of the Pixie Forest, not too far from where her Atelier is situated. But she's not in her Atelier, oh no. She's actually looking for her friends, because she can't seem to find them outside of the VR so maybe they're inside. (She's not quite getting some of this technology stuff yet.) But while she searches, she takes some opportunities to gather some materials, unaware of their existence or lack thereof outside of this machine.

And she's gathering them with her Bomb Rod. So uh. Hope you're not too startled by explosions in your general vicinity? It's safe, she promises, just don't get too close. ]

[ three ]

[ Ryza is, unlucky for the two of them, the one meant to be giving directions through this maze. But she's having a difficult time giving good ones. Still, she's trying her best, so whoever you are, kind blindfolded soul, be patient. ]

IA: Arrival
[To say that Apollo has taken his arrival poorly is... Well. An understatement. But as a god who is typically the one doing the kidnapping as opposed to the victim he's less than pleased. He isn't even sure how such a thing could have been possible, especially since something seems to be keeping him from just. Leaving.

That shouldn't even be plausible for anyone outside of two people, and yet those words can't leave his lips. And perhaps that is what's most concerning and difficult to accept.

Presently the god of the Sun is skulking around the city proper, floating a few inches of the ground even though the action that usually takes such little effort seems to be actually draining him. He's hopelessly lost but is far too proud to admit it- although between his copious amounts of gold jewelry, lose-fitting white clothes, and unnecessary amounts of hair he sticks out like a sore thumb.

He's in the midst of fuming when he bumps into someone, instantly rounding on the poor stranger like they just insulted his sister.]

Watch it!

IB: Rooming
[By some miracle (or good samaritan) the redhead does finally manage to find his way to the apartments. But where one problem ends another begins, because Apollo has absolutely no idea how to figure out where his room is, let alone how to actually get inside. Thanks to his pride he's already running low on whatever Chroma he had upon arrival and the concept of electronics and things like "touchpads" are completely foreign, more or less stranding him in the halls of the building.

After much pacing, rattling doors, and attempting to just will them open he settles for stomping a foot, voice rising in frustration for whoever happens to be unlucky enough to be around.]

UGH! This place is the worst!

II: God Save Us from the Queen
[The Groves are, if nothing else, something of welcome sight. Despite all the unfamiliar trappings of the world the bit of nature is more akin to the garden or the forests he used to spend time with Artemis in.

But of course this place seems bent on making everything as irritating as possible, because some attendants seem to be under the impression that Apollo wants to help out with the serving. Anyone nearby will be treated to raised voices, with one in particular full of unabashed disdain.]

What do I look like?! I might be stuck here for now but do you honestly think I'll run around at your beck and call like some insect? Don't make me laugh!

[And with that he tries to whirl around and stomp off dramatically... Only to run directly into a Swiffy Bot and topple over with an "oomf!". Graceful.]

III: Say Cheese
[Of course Apollo is vaguely familiar with the concept of human festivals, but they're not something he's ever given a moment's consideration. In his eyes they're nothing more than a noisy collection of humans gathered into a smaller space than usual; ants collecting around something interesting one found and then led all the others to.

Given this avoidance he has no idea whether this... Whatever-it-is is anything like what humans back home do and really he doesn't care. When he's handed the treats and sparklers he just looks at them boredly, only sparing a moment to sniff at the Champagne Supernova before promptly trying to shove all of it at whoever happens to be walking nearby.]

You take this.

The Story of Dildo Baggins: A
[That is. A tall grey woman with pastel pink hair standing in the doorway of the apartment next to yours. She doesn't look too bewildered at least, and seems to have already picked up the whole 'hologram decoration' thing, going by how she's busily switching through all the beginner decoration schemes and clicking her tongue.]

This is absolutely horrendous. So many options, and not one where I can have a house full of fish, stuffed dolls, or both. Distasteful. Whatever is the point?

The Story of Dildo Baggins: B
[Oh, VR you say. Experiencing the world of other people, you say. Well, Chora's most prominent memory of the past 5 or so years is probably the same as anyone else from Eorzea, naturally; the Seventh Umbral Calamity. Witnessed from the depths of Limsa Lominsa, all tall white spires glowing against the Dalamud sky, people either watching in numb silence or screaming and running for cover.

[OHHHHHHH appearance modifications that aren't permanent? Chora's all about that! It's been her secret fantasy, ever since she hit puberty and shot up like a rocket, to look like a dainty princess instead of...Well, the tall, curvy thing she is otherwise. Still, it's not like she's suddenly lost her sense of adventure, so as she waits in line for that magic booth, she's just going to turn to whoever's behind her, put on her most winning smile, and stage whisper,] Hey, want to go in the booth with me? THERE AND BACK AGAIN [A]

[ Finn wondered if he should be used to this by now. He'd been on his own before, thrown into a new place with some sort of mission. But... he hadn't really been alone last time... Either way, he'd learned to not trust this whole dimension-hopping thing.

Finn listened to the entry spiel and allowed them to examine him all without hardly a word. He'd asked enough to know that the locals hadn't so much as heard of Vaikuntha or any of the other terms he pressed on them. Not sure if he was happy about that, but he'd also learned that his... abilities hadn't carried over. Despite being without Ramuh, the sudden freedom almost felt like a gift.

He'd been pointed to Level 2 to pick out a unit for himself. A bit crowded for his tastes these days, but he figured it would do. For now, he roamed around the neighborhood with hands stuffed in his jacket, quietly taking in the scenery and just trying to process. ]

GOD SAVE US FROM THE QUEEN [B]

[ When he'd heard of the Queen's birthday, he couldn't not attend. How stupid he'd been so long ago at the Empress' dinner had haunted him for months. He was never going to make the same mistakes again.

But this... wasn't that sort of situation. Instead, the Queen seemed excited about this game she was intent on playing with everyone. Finn watched from the sidelines for a while, trying to get a read on the underlying mood here but couldn't find anything suspicious. Rolling his shoulders, he decided to force himself to relax and go to the tea party instead.

Finn wasn't shocked by how alert the tea made him. If anything, he was used to it. He thanked a passing worker, taking a couple of cookies off of their tray and walking around the party. He was trying to make an effort to mingle more, but it just wasn't coming naturally to him these days.

He wondered how long that was going to work before this whole Chroma situation became a problem.

With his mind far away and eyes on the crowd, he'd managed to knock shoulders with someone passing by. Finn jumped aside, skittish, but quickly made himself relax. ]

Arrival

[ One moment, he was greeting Kaiba within the Afterlife (the stupid idiot) and next he was encased in crystal in an area that looked nothing at all like the Field of Reeds. Such a strange place, not even the mortal realm with Yugi and his friends looked like this. Nothing he could ever even imagine, really. Just where was he?

With a wince and a grunt, Atem pulled himself out of the crystal tomb that he had been encased in. The Millenium Puzzle weighed against his neck, almost surprising him. He wasn't entirely what the Puzzle would do for him here. He wasn't within the Field of Reeds, this place felt more like the mortal realm. Well, time to find out.

It would simply be a puzzle that needed solving. Of course, finding another soul within this crystal field would be the first priority. So, there will be an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh with incredibly wild tri-colored hair wandering about. ]

There and Back Again

[ Now dressed in more modern clothes as his Egyptian attire was definitely ill-suited for the colder weather here. Atem was currently in an apartment testing out the technology. There was no setting for anything even resembling Egyptian, but perhaps he could get something close to Yugi's place? Atem felt as though he had spent long enough in Japan to be able to get that right... right?

At least modern technology didn't through him off too badly, having been used to his time in modern day Japan. He sighed, scratching at the back of his neck as he tilted his head at the room before him. ]

I suppose there would be such a thing as too many choices.

[ Maybe he should leave well enough alone for now. Or maybe find someone who was Japanese. ]

[ here's the emotional setup: ever been in a war for your life, only to wind up in a furry hug-fueled paradise mid-battle? that's the mood here— mix confusion with shock with a vague sense of disappointment, stir with despondency, shake with resignation.

there, we've got that out of the way. let's move on to the prompts:
]

A. THERE AND BACK AGAIN.

[ do spirits need housing? do dead warriors need four walls and a roof? do androids dream of electric sheep?

here's Diarmuid, in front of the entrance to a sensible 2LDK flat, arms folded and chin resting against his knuckles. it's evident that he's considering Something about the space, but he's also blocking anyone else from taking a look— not to mention that he's holding twin spears in red and gold.

(it never hurts to be careful.)

eventually, he'll get the hint. a pivot, and his weapons vanish; he bows, obscuring his face in the process.
]

—My apologies. [ a beat, to exhale. ] ...If it's a room you're looking for, this one is free.

B. SAY CHEESE.

Ah, no, I—

[ hand up in the universal sign for refusal, Diarmuid is fielding a throng of eager-looking Prismals looking for someone to unload their food and drinks on. for someone so upright and straight-postured, the guy looks troubled— tired, even.

he breathes through his nose.
] ...Am I in "cosplay"? No, I—

[ why won't anyone let him finish his sentences... he's cut off by something equally banal, before he closes his eyes. his only wish for the Grail now is to fade into the sky like Mufasa, tbh.

so. here's the exit strategy: a backwards step. unfortunately, he'll find himself elbow-to-chest against someone else— sorry for jostling.
] —Excuse me. ...This is quite the crowd.

C. SAY CHEESE 2 - ELECTRIC BOOGALOO.

[ someone spilled their drink all over Diarmuid. that's it, that's the prompt.

which is to say, someone spilled the intoxicating drink all over the front of his bodysuit, and while it doesn't bother him— he can just discard his physical form and come back, right as rain— he's trying to find a quiet place before he just. you know. fucking vanishes into thin air in front of children.

let's not even try to pretend that this isn't the thirsty option where a guy is walking around with a wet 'shirt', though. as discreet as he's trying to be about it, he still stands out: too tall and stocky to be anything but noticeable.

[ amanda is, frankly, used to the '80s futuristic' vibe, for obvious reasons, though the animal people and neon aspects are kind of new and odd. she's--on edge, but being in space or on an alien planet or moon isn't strange, so she's trying to make the best of it. she's moved in, settled, and just ??? living. it's fine.

however, she has no money. right. okay. she wants to get some kind of comfort food for dinner, if she can find it, something like earth, and not the shit she's been eating in space. she misses home, she misses her mother even though she's--well, she hasn't given up, let's say that.

in any case she can't pay for some damn food so she may or may not cant her head a little if you're nearby, frowning, before venturing: ]

Hey. Question.

there and back again - b

[ A TASTE OF HOME, OF EARTH, OF GOOD SHIT--amanda is wary of ai for good reason but this isn't that. she puts in a good memory. or at least she tries. she's willing to give a taste of earth to you if you want it too. or even just a chill time she had in space.

however, what you get is not earth. what you get is either an initial encounter with a xenomorph or like the saddest scene in the game i'm sorry. warnings: xenomorph in the first video, major character death in the second.

in any case she doesn't shut down, but her stress spikes, just a little: she says nothing in the first option, dragging whoever came with her under the desk with her entirely, and in the second she frantically starts--changing the script, shutting down all the generators in order from memory. she doesn't want to relive this again, but she wonders if the tech here can take things into account: could she have saved samuels? ]

This--This isn't what I put in.

say cheese - a?

[ oh it's party time. much better than that horror show. phew. she--lets herself be led along by a cute rat person, and takes her gift and drink graciously. she doesn't accept the ice though, preferring to stay sober, and wanders the merrymaking for a long while. she's not going to join in on the game of lucky tail, apparently, but she is going to watch the goings on with interest, even managing a laugh or two when something wild happens. the demichroma is tempting though, and, well-- ]

🌟 Arrival 🌟

[ The most surprising thing, at first, when Allen begins to wake is the realization that he had fallen asleep and that he should not have been. So as soon as his eyes begin to flutter open (bright silvery-grey, framed somewhat messily by white hair that's half pulled back equally messily) he jolts awake and begins to stumble to his feet as small shards of... glass? fall from him, faintly musical. Even if his eyes are on his surroundings, and wide with shock. It's...

It's breathtaking, actually? The crystals—it isn't just the light or like stained glass, they look to be glowing. And yet it's so deeply foreboding as well.

Where... where had the Ark brought him? He thought he could only go places he'd been before.. But there's no way he could have been someplace like this. And the only thing apparent, as he looks around for any kind of landmark... is that he seems to be completely alone in it.

He should be relieved for that, and yet he isn't at all.

But at a slightly musical ring behind him, like more crystal shards falling to the ground or being ground under foot, he turns quickly, eyes snapping wide in some alarm and tensing. ]

Who's there? [ It's not uncalm, but his voice is tight. ]

🌟 There and Back Again 🌟

[ After what we can assume were... several attempts to GTFO and get away from everyone who was trying to examine or detain him once they found him... and several times that he needed to be stunned and sedated... you can now have one (1) mostly-civilized hobo Exorcist ready to interact with society! He actually seems almost accepting of the whole thing, although perhaps that's bitter resignation more than anything.

His spine also still feels like jelly and focusing is hard.

But he might also just be compartmentalizing like a pro because how would he even begin to truly process everything. At least until he's finally lead to the housing development and told to choose a flat. This takes a skeptical back-and-forth because nothing is ever free and of course it turns out it isn't, and he's not happy about that, but...

But...

He's too tired to be as squirrely as he would be of such a thing. He was tired of everything before he woke up in that place, he was resigned, HE WAS READY, THIS WAS ALL GOING TO BE OVER SOON—

And then he was here and everything with that wagon and Apocryphos seems a lifetime ago even if it was less than a day.

It's why as soon as he's half-heartedly glanced around the flat (he can't even register how strange everything looks and that he doesn't recognize half of anything as something that should exist because nothing here looks familiar at all, he's numbed to it) and is by himself that he finally sinks into a sofa and buries his head in his hands.

Shit. Just... shit.]

Haah... [ It's funny...

His eyes feel hot but it really does feel like his tears have dried up. ]

Kanda must be mad. [ He says, not as if lamenting the fact but as if somewhat (bitterly) consoled by it.

He won't hear the click of the door at first. ]

🌟 God Save Us From the Queen 🌟

[ So all of this? Allen wants none of this. This is baffling. Who would just so easily go play games and make merry at a party and celebrate after... after everything?? Maybe it's not the fault of these people that they're stuck here, but??? Lives are being upended, torn away from their duties and loved ones. He doesn't believe in moping but is there no sense of solemness for that??? People can't just be expected to go "oh, I guess this is my life now" and accept that so quickly??

Well, he does feel a little bad because he's at least been able to grasp enough to realize their being here is vitally important to this world. So of course the people here would find reason to celebrate and wouldn't think that much of it. Even if a lot of the details flew past him because he was so hung up on the bigger issues...

But regardless of wherever he is or how horribly everything is going, he will find a way to persist—and make money. A guy has to eat, after all. Gotta start with the basics—which is why as soon as he hears they're hiring wait staff for a royal event he shows up with the most professional cheer.

It seems a good sort of thing to covertly listen in on anything that can help him put together the situation he's in better too. It was one of Master's favorite ways of mingling to get information. Well, as one of the hobnobbing guests, not the help, but a good con man knows how to play to his strengths...

So he might be found either:

A) Cheerily serving tea with such masterful charm and a sparkling, polite demeanor that you'd think he does this professionally all the time. (He does, if you count his being an Odd Jobs Extraordinaire.) Would you like a refill, miss? More cookies, sir? Hahaha— ✨

Or B), in a corner he thought was secluded looking up somewhat guiltily if you managed to catch him hurriedly stuffing a large handful of cookies into his face. Yes, there are crumbs. A lot of crumbs. He was actually starving even before he woke up on that moon, okay. It's been months since he had a proper meal... ]

🌟 I Will Continue to Pray 🌟

[ Later, wedged away in the quietest part of the grove he could find where he might be away from prying eyes— one might notice the sort of odd sight of this boy just standing by himself, having closed his eyes and taken a deep breath like he's centering himself. Like he's getting ready to do something big—before he brings a gloved forefinger up in front of his face, grazing forehead and the tip of his nose. Like he's concentrating.

Or praying.

But he stops after a moment, looking somewhat worried but not exactly surprised either. And he takes another breath, squares his shoulders again, and repeats the gesture. This time however, he seems to be humming a melody very faintly. There's no words, but... it almost feels like a lullaby. Peaceful—

And yet it sounds so very sad too.

How strange.

But whatever the desired effect was, he doesn't seem to get it. As he stops after less than a minute of this, not even turning as he thumps a hand quite hard against the tree he was standing beside, shoulders sagging. (It shakes, a few leaves fall.) ]

Damnit. [ He doesn't really sound angry though. Just... drained. Frustrated.

And worried, as he presses his lips together. ]

There's nothing there...

THERE AND BACK AGAIN A

[A lot had happened in a short amount of time, he was still trying to process not being beaten to death let alone some strange terrifying bright world full of things he couldn't even imagine in the heavens! Still, he wanted to be a good boy and do what he was told, the people didn't seem mean and they even gave him instructions and kind suggestions.

Still... the layout was so unfamiliar, and the structures looked so strange. He was suppose to find a house, but once he did that, what then?

Th-this... this is... too much.

[Standing in the middle of the road, a map in his hands and residences all around he couldn't help but freeze as everything caught up to him at once.]

GOD SAVE US FROM THE QUEEN B

[There was a lot of celebration going on, but what people talked about felt really mixed. It was a time of celebration, the birthday of someone very important. Festivities were being held for that. That made sense. But then, there was talk of battle and destroying enemies. There was even displays of people fighting to the death. But, no one seemed overly concerned about it. They yelled, they cheered, but... this wasn't how war was.

What a terrifying place. Perhaps this was simply a tournament of skill. There were signs to imply that this was some sort of tournament but.... It was a bit too much and he was too afraid to ask anyone. He would definitely be called stupid for not knowing what was going on.

Instead he found a quieter place away from the noises and displays of violence, settling down with the tea and offered cookies. He should sit and think. What would his sister do in a situation like this?

He sighed deeply and sipped at his tea.

I-I'll find someone to ask l-later....

A. There and Back Again

[Adaptability was man's greatest asset. Without it, one had no hope in surviving in an ever-changing world. You had to be quick to accept change and turn it around to your advantage and if there was one thing Jin Guangyao was good at, it was turning things to his advantage.

This was no different, though he'd spent much of the days in his initial arrival with a feeling of tentative 'otherness,' like he was existing outside himself and watching everything happen. He took the information, accepted that this was sure a thing actually happening in his life (life?), and now it was just figuring out where to go from here.

He'd lost his hat and somehow that seemed symbolic but he wasn't about to delve too much into the nuances of it. That way surely lied madness and he couldn't afford such a thing right now.

But he'd been given a place to stay, apparently, and he spends some time methodically figuring out how things worked, cautiously poking and prodding with an eager mind and even more eager fingers to pry things apart and figure out how they worked.

He refrained from doing that literally (for now), but one press of the wrong button has his door suddenly slamming open hard enough to bounce off the opposite wall and probably scare the hell out of anyone out in the hall. Oops.

He pokes his head out, smile quick and apologetic and holding a hint of dimples.
]

My apologies. I'm still getting used to the...intricacies of this place.

B. Service With a Smile

[Well he hasn't gone the full route of employment as an attendant, but attending banquets and parties like this is a great way to get information! He makes small talk with people, mostly just trying to get an understanding of what they think about the queen, the current political climate, etc. etc. Normal things, you know!

He speaks kindly to the servants, with a genuine seeming interest in their lives. Their complaints get an ear and are placated with sympathetic noises, and though they give up everything,Guangyao gives up absolutely nothing. When asked for a name he smiles bashfully and tells them he's 'Meng Yao' and the name feels strange on his tongue and even stranger to hear. He almost kind of regrets it.

A bit later he fills his plate with cookies he's not going to eat himself (okay he nibbles one, and then two, because he likes sweets and they're good and who's going to judge him if he indulges a little?), and approaches anyone who appears to be alone.

His smile is charming and pleasant, dimples lighting up his face
]

Here, would you like one? This place can be a little overwhelming, but I haven't had anything but praise for the food thus far.

C. Say Cheese!

[Mistakes. Mistakes were made. He has so many regrets--or he will later, when he can think clearly. He's a victim of his own need to keep up a polite and humble face.

When the rat-people offered him a drink 'with a kick' he hadn't been expecting liquor like this. He honestly had expected some sort of spice and when was met with something sweet instead he'd drank it down with enthusiasm.

And how he was drunker than he'd ever, ever allowed himself. He's at least just aware enough to realize how bad it is and how he really needs to get to the safety of home--or what counted for it here--before something bad happened.

That's the plan anyhow. Instead he ends up tripping over his own robes that get tangled around his legs and he falls to the ground. His robes tear a little and there's blood and bruises to be had, but the absurdity of the situation just makes him start to laugh.

Well. Giggle. And giggle hard enough that he snorts which is incredibly embarrassing. But the embarrassment makes him giggle harder and snort again and he's clamping his hand over his mouth in a desperately futile attempt to smother himself as he gigglesnorts for another few seconds before letting out a soft, whining:
] Ow.

[His knees hurt. Help. Oh god. He struggles to untangle himself form his own robes--god why did he insist on so many layers?--and get up again, still occasionally falling into helpless giggling.

God he's going to hate himself so much for this later.

[ Caihong is exactly Duo's scene, especially since they also have free food. Unfortunately, when asked if one is 18, 'I might be!' is NOT the right answer... so sadly, he did not get any of the free booze.

He'll be stuffing mooncakes into his pockets and running about with manic abandon, burning sparklers in both hands. When he hears about the game Lucky Tail (and the hefty Demichroma award at the end), he immediately volunteers. Working with a partner is no skin off his back. Being blindfolded he doesn't like, but he can deal with it.

After tying on the blindfold, he gives his partner a thumbs up. ]

All right, pal. Don't you dare steer me wrong, I can easily find out where you live.

▶ THERE AND BACK AGAIN: A
A far cry from a tiny town on a river, entering the cold autumn. Even if it were more like the Capital, he could have never dreamed anything like this. Bright lights - lights, without fire, like the sun itself - and strange metal constructs skittering around. The medical tools the staff had used had been completely foreign to him to begin with, and now he was even more adrift.

This is what it's like to be an outsider, isn't it? He'd been one before, but this was... another world entirely.

He barely went into his given living space, not comfortable with the level of technology in there. It was alien, like the planet he was on - like he was, to this planet - and not being able to feel the Lines or the Earth again felt empty.

So he did what he could to find comfort: went to go look at the local plant life. Maybe, somehow, he could grow something from home? That was a potential option, if he earned it. Then at least he could have a little piece of it with him.

This tall man in a military-style outfit, smelling of blood and with sleeves stained red from it, was digging around in the gardens. Maybe he'd start small, local. A hobby, while he adjusted to not being in a state of panic, and something to calm him while being so lost.

▶ SAY CHEESE
Giant rats. Giant, talking, sentient rats, approaching him. Giant rats offering food and celebrating. What more educated people would recognize as PTSD, he immediately feels any curiosity fade away to dread. His chest hurts. He can almost see the black particles in the air, like ash, and hear the odd whispers in his head of the Rat Prophet's twisted lies.

"No," his response is immediate and curt, wanting to be left alone. He knows he's being rude, but he's getting too strong a reminder of mystical, potentially malicious beings in the guise of a plague carrier. This large, stoic man, still in his outfit with the blood on the sleeves, turns pale and visibly swallows before quickly turning to leave.

[You awaken in darkness. Blackboards flank the room on opposite ends, and chairs and desks are haphazardly scattered along the sides. What little sunlight that filters through the windows shines on you alone, handcuffed and tied up to another chair in this abandoned cram school. That is, until a girl steps into view. Her glare is a dagger to your chest. Her voice is a blade through your soul.]

Anyway, it's a stupid matter. Save your breath.

I'm going to kill you now.

[She lunges in, eyes blazing with murderous intent as she pulls something out of her plastic bag—

A pack of gum.]

Sorry, was this cold open too much for you? I just went with whatever felt sexy at the time. That's the aura I'm getting from this place. Don't you feel it, too?

[Fuck it, let's be a maid. She's broke and she doesn't want to even try touching anybody on this god-forsaken planet (yet). So here she is, serving you hors d'oeuvres on a platter.]

Here. Take them without staring. [She fidgets. Just a bit.] It's not like I wanted to show you my absolute territory, so hurry it up. I want to establish my character as quickly as possible.

iii

Everybody wants to be a cat, but why not a rat? Their teeth are tougher than most mammals and they can certainly eat more than twice their body weight. Yet we refuse to be associated with the creature. Perhaps our perception is colored by our language? "I smell a rat." "They ratted me out." The English language has figures of speech like that. But why a rat? Aren't flies and roaches more disgusting? Personally, I think it's because they're full of shit. You are what you eat, after all. I suppose that's what makes them so despicable. You should be careful. One might gnaw their way into your heart before you know it.

[She says all of this in a rather flat tone. You literally just met her. This is literally your first meeting.]

Anyway, the mooncakes. Do you want them?

[Because she is offering.]

arrival

[In Tyria, a world where terrifying creatures known as Elder Dragons could corrupt swathes of innocents with death, plants, fire, ice and even crystals, waking up in a half fugue state surrounded by entirely different but still crystalline structures was unnerving to say the least.

Scream worthy, really, for someone who had recently dealt with the Elder Dragon responsible for the Branded crystal corruption that ruined so much of the Ascalonian landscape. And scream she did, scrambling away and roughly brushing the shards off her skin while looking to the skies for any sign of that massive shadow.

It was only after Ana's mind cleared with forced deep breaths that she recalled two important facts - Kralkatorrik was pinned in the Unending Ocean, and neither his nor Aurene's crystals were this particular shade of pink. Wherever she had woken up was clearly not some land scarred by the Brand, and she had a strange feeling deep in the pit of her stomach she may not even be on Tyria anymore.

A feeling confirmed by the strange Asura-like airship that came to retrieve her and others, and by the explanations she could barely focus on. Her head was pounding, stomach lurching, and try as she might to keep it together it was the examination that sent her over the edge.

Naturally this was concerning for those attempting to ensure she wasn't dragging some fantastic disease along with her and required more time than she would have liked being poked and prodded, but she was thankfully given the all clear after a few hours. Whatever was said to her about the situation was terribly confusing; a buzzing noise that were supposed to be words making so little sense to her mind.

As it took her a little longer than most others to get released the halls of the government center were quiet, making the padding of her bare feet on the cold floor even louder as she found a place to sit and wait for the transport to wherever it was they were planning on taking her next.

As she took her seat and struggled with trembling hands to put her boots back on it struck her hard that she had yet to see a single familiar face. Not where she woke up, not on the transport, not in the halls as she was taken to be examined...

Not even her loyal pets were at her side.

The boot fell from her hands, landing with a thud on the floor. Face buried in her hands, shoulders shaking. Though tears didn't fall she still felt burning in the corners of her eyes.]

How did this even happen... ?

there and back again (a)

[Being taken to the city was no less confusing and upsetting for Ana, the brightness and vibrant colors rivaling Rata Sum and the obvious flashy technology enough to make even a pragmatic Asura like Zojja likely drool. Ana had no real qualms about technology, but it just wasn't how the humans of Tyria lived. Even Divinity's Reach, with the backing of rich nobles only made use of limited amounts of it.

She wasn't so inept that she couldn't make use of it but having so much around her, so much of it controlling the look and feel of this small space she had chosen was just overwhelming.

As such she didn't stay in long, deciding that "settling in" would have to wait for when she was a little less on edge. Stepping out of her accommodations she was met with a noisy stomach growl and the awareness that she hadn't had a proper meal since the night before.

Hand resting on her stomach over the leather of her armor she slumped against the wall next to the closed door, letting out a sigh. They had given her so much information at once, and now she could only recall maybe a third of it.]

I have a terrible feeling they don't take coins here.

there and back again (b)

[Ana had some passing experience with Virtual Reality, namely thanks to a certain Asura named Moto who had been one of the few to actually perfect the craft. Most others saw little or no practical use for it and Moto himself had turned it into more of an entertainment device.

That seemed to be a similar function to these pods, though without Moto or Taimi at the helm to get things started Ana had fumbled through the controls a few times before getting things working properly.

Even then, the memory she loaded up wasn't completely one she had intended, though it had been on her mind.

A brightly lit, glimmering chamber of gold and colored glass, the outside twisted spires reaching up to the roof of an underground chasm; inside, gold pedestals displaying various nicknacks.

At the center a young dragon, bright eyed and excited, bouncing about like a puppy greeted Ana.

Years had long since passed from this moment in time, when Aurene was still so small and unburdened by the hopes of Tyria, yet the scene displayed before Ana held the same scents, the same sounds and even the same air as the last time she had visited that chamber.

She moved forward to the dragon, bending at the knee and placing a hand on her neck and resting their foreheads together. Aurene chirped happily, nuzzling back.]

Things really were less complicated then, weren't they?

[A sigh, a sad smile. Ana knew this wasn't real, and yet she could do little to dash the heavy ache in her chest as if the past few years hadn't happened at all.

She started to sing softly, caring not if she wasn't alone in the pod.]

Aurene, Aurene, dragon full of light...

➵ god save us from the queen

[This was more like what Ana was used to, though "used to" in the loosest sense since Moto only ever opened Super Adventure Box once a year and she always promptly forgot half of what she was supposed to do when the event came around again.

But using virtual reality as an entertainment tool instead of destroying her heart with bittersweet memories was far more up her alley and absolutely got her attention enough to convince her braving the crowds was worth it.

And crowded it was. Not even Wintersday brought out this many people to one area back home, and there was legitimate concern she was going to get crushed if she wasn't careful.

Thankfully that didn't happen, and soon enough Ana was... not fighting in an epic battle and instead attempting to lure a wild griffon close with the provided food. Sitting cross legged on the ground, holding the pole and frowning as they all looked on from a distance but refused to edge anywhere near her.]

I was expecting something a lot more exciting. I never thought I'd miss the torture Gorrik put me through to raise my Skyscale.

When he had re-arrived in Prismatica, the memories came flooding back to him like a nasty trip. He'd written it off as a fever dream or something and went back to his normal life, doing his usual shady thing. Whatever that may be to us readers. He'll never tell.

This experience, however, reminds him strongly of a particularly traumatic incident where he fell into an uncomfortable sleep, trembling from a fever, fighting for his life in his head as it were. Even then, however, this dreamscape was gentle, mysterious; Not so different from his current predicament but with a lot less imminent danger.

There's no specific threat in this scenario (yet). He's simply observing the pale unsaturated field of flowers with hands in his pockets. Every once in a while, the scene will flicker into a new one, transitioning to a rainy day in front of a house. Then back again. He has no intentions of building real-life places into a simulation like this from an unreliable human brain, so this dreamscape will be the only thing that comes up.

Sometimes...if you're (un)lucky, you'll hear a sweet voice lilt through the air, coming from a figure far in the distance of this scene.

"Don't worry, she won't bite."

It feels like an entire lifetime ago when he last enjoyed a festival of this caliber. With the lack of obligation to uphold his identity here, he feels way more compelled to participate in the festivities tonight. With the lovely Prismals coaxing him eagerly towards the fun, he shrugs to himself and goes along with it with a smile, accepting drinks and even going as far as to allow them to spike his drink with something quite potent.

He's a pretty heavy drinker when the time allows it, and he's pretty sure his tolerance is decent, but this certainly throws him for a loop. It's no wonder that he finds himself fascinated by the booth and its flashy decorations. Whether someone decides to join him or not, he's climbing into the booth a little clumsily, scrolling through the options and hitting the randomize button to cast the illusion at a rapid pace.

"My...how absurd. Maybe I should grow a beard."

The beard doesn't feel like anything as he pretends to stroke it.

THERE AND BACK AGAIN (A)

Alright. Shopping for a space apartment. In space. Space-shopping.

[He's not really talking to anyone in particular as he makes his way down the corridor, having opted to investigate this particular apartment complex because of the architecture: sleek, modern, asymmetrical on the outside. If he was going to be looking for a place to stay in space, he might as well go all the way with the aesthetic.

Also, he really needs to get over the space part of this. He's been to space. As an alien hybrid, he was born there. That really shouldn't be the weirdest part of all this, but when he'd broken away from the team with the intent to leave town, he hadn't meant to go this far. Texas would have been fine.

He sighs, rubbing at the back of his neck as he turns a corner, only to collide with another person due to the fact that he'd been looking anywhere but ahead. He quickly rights himself, reaching out a hand to either offer assistance up or maybe pick up any items that may have been dropped.]

Whoa! Sorry about that— guess I wasn't paying attention. Kind of a lot to process right now?

GOD SAVE US FROM THE QUEEN (A)

[For all that's unfamiliar about this place, video games are something he can easily get behind, no matter what they are. When the opportunity to try out LmaO presents itself, curiosity easily gets the better of him. Before long, he's in deep, prepared to grind his way through the current event, his eyes set on that griffin mount. While it seems like there are some shortcuts to progression, he opts to do things the old-fashioned way, which is what brings him to trying to lure a wild griffin with a fishing pole and veggie pie. So far, no luck, but that just means it will be that much more satisfying when he pulls it off, right?]

Come on... aren't you at least a little hungry?

[The pie doesn't seem to be enough to grab the griffin's attention on its own, at least not yet— but calling out to it at least earns him a quizzical look in response from the creature itself.

Huh. Pretty expressive. That's some programming...]

There's more where this came from, too. Come on, buddy, just a little closer...

[He might need a hand from a more experienced player, as much as he hates to admit it. Clearly, animal handling isn't a thing in this game, or if it is, it's definitely not his strong suit.]

WILDCARD

[Teddy will be doing his best to roll with the punches and will probably spend some time sorting out his thoughts while indulging in the unlimited tea and cookies. He might even be able to be talked into a round of Lucky Tail. Hit him up wherever!]
